Kerry were not allowed warm up on pitch...sent to back pitch. A fee bald patches in front of the goal. Graham is togged out but separate from the squad completely.

O Beaglaoich looks gassed The man's been exceptional and scored twice one being a beaut. Louth lucky to still be in this.

Kerrys best performance YTD.
Kerry were in complete control and that goal was very fortuitous and against the run of play.
A 2nd clear goal chance missed by Louth in the 2nd half also.
Apart from that Kerry were very solid.
The spread of scores is the most pleasing as there is no over reliance on DC or Seanie to carry us.
We have finally copped on that our FF line will take all the attention and our runners can take scores.
Louth were a big physical team that were no mugs. They packed their defence and gave up the Kerry kickout.
Kicking 2.21 against that type of system is very pleasing.
Monaghan bet by 10 Meath bet by 15 Louth bet by 14.
You can't ask much more than that.

O Beaglaoich looks gassed I think he always looks banjaxed but it's probably just the way he carries himself. I remember Paula Radcliffe the British athlete. Looked like she was about to collapse after one lap and then just kept going very fast.

It was Paul Murphy who was caught for the goal. Isolated under a high ball in the FB line. Something we discussed earlier this week. What was discussed earlier in the week was Paul being targeted at corner back. That wasn't the case here. This was a shot for a point that was short and left. Looked like Paul was trying to leave it go wide. He should have attacked the ball. Maybe the communication from Ryan in goal should have been better. It was the Louth number 2 scored the goal.

But he was left 1 : 1 in that FB line which I think is a problem. He's a super footballer it's just not a position I like to see him in.

On the plus side,
I saw Graham O Sullivan swinging over a point before the game started.
I suspect he'll be back in 2 weeks.

It was Paul Murphy who was caught for the goal. My error I thought twas O Beaglaoich. It was Brian O Beaglaoich who was caught waiting for the ball for the goal. Maybe Shane Ryan could have claimed too? It dropped into the corner of the small square.

In the two years of this current format, Kerry are the first county to take 3 wins from 3. Galway, Derry, Mayo and Tyrone are lining up as potential quarter-final opponents. Roscommon and Cork outsiders depending on the preliminary draw, they'll want to draw Louth.

Encouraging performance today in that it was the most consistent 70 minutes all year. Louth competed well especially in the first 50 minutes but there was a gulf in class. Louth were never able to get to grips with Kerry’s movement and lacked a bit of composure at times. Only negatives were the goal which o Beaglaoich and Ryan both could have done more and also the goal chance early in the second half.

Thought we played well Today - workrate was high even late in the game ( intensity had dropped early in 2nd half but the ‘schmozzle’ seemed to re-ignite us a bit). What i was most happy with was that it really looked like we knew what to expect from Louth and we had a plan- movement in attack was v good and you could see in the warm up , that we had 2 or 3 v specific routines to get scores against the deep defence - and we got at lease 3 pts early on from that routine - 2 from Brian oB on the stand side and one from Joe oC on the other side. Thought all the players did well - not sure anyone was outstanding but all above solid. Def our missed chances at goal is still a concern and thenLouth goal was embarrassing but tbh I dont think we’d have left ourself so exposed on that one against tougher opposition. Portlaoise is great spot for a match for supporters - easy parking, kids on the pitch

our season begins now!
if cork get through, can we get them again in 1/4 final?
Cork, Galway, Mayo and Tyrone our most likely opponents, none easy.

Couldn't make yesterday, typical in that its the one game then not on any medium. Was confined to the frantic musings of Timmy & Ambrose.
Judging from what they were saying, highlights last night and posts on here we were always in control but still open again. It's concerning that lower ranked teams are cutting us open so often and we haven't nipped in the bud.
A more positive trend is the spread of scorers and burden being lifted off the 2 lads. We'll need that to continue obviously. They were saying on TSG that the 2 lads did good in the middle but it sounded on the radio like Louth got more than there share of joy from it? What was the verdict from those at it?
The fun stuff starts in 2 weeks, we'll know where we are then if we genuinely building or my earlier worry about sleepwalking into a primed Div 1 team in a quarter

My old match reports aren't what they used be, I may have partaken of a couple too many pints in the beer garden pre-game to really give a decent overview of the game.
What I can say is that the Louth fans around us on the Terrace were not too impressed with Conor Lane's officiating. Sloppy goal to give away - something that happens far too much for my liking this year. Defence looked a little ropey at times when run at hard - same old story.
Thought we held our own in midfield and the spread of scores up front continues to satisfy. Seanie quite enough by his standards as was Paudie. Brionn thriving in this free man bursting out from the backs/running on the shoulder role.
We've hammered the three opponents without getting near top gear. We'll see how we fair in the Quarters now. Championship starts here!
P.S. would there be any chance of the full game appearing up on youtube at some stage? Would like to watch Louth and Kerry's first goals back to see what exactly happened, ditto for the schommzole, didn't catch what started it.
P.S.S. would like to see David's score on 33mins again, class flick up from Dara - worthy point of the year contender!
