Can someone explain why the Junior final was brought forward (and rightly so), yet the intermediate final is another 2 weeks away. I can't see the reason, any explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Junior champions due out on Nov 9th, inter champs have no game until Nov 24th. munster.gaa.ie/fixtures/club-championships-2024/

Possibly a good thing it went to a replay instead of having nearly 3 months of a wait for the winners.

Have any of the Ardfert players returned from abroad for tomorrow's final? They had 2 on the winning kerry team in the NY championship, not sure the of the rules around eligibility to play at home, but interesting one for sure. Also the AFL comes to mind, closed season.

Game gone to Extra Time: Firies 0-11 Ardfert 1-08 Firies yet to lead in this game but never gave up despite being 5 points down with 15 to go. Late Firies equaliser has forced extra time, with a replay if theres still isn't a winner here in Tralee.

Well done Firies.

Ardfert were well in control going into last 15 minutes, they will be very disappointed, was there for the taking, but fair dues to fires never say die attitude got them back into the game and last chance saloon shot from niall o don delivered the levelling score with the game up.
All fires in extra time, both sides gave it all in tough conditions. Congrats to fires and hard luck Ardfert.

Not sure about minor but they have some good underage teams, their U15s got to the Div1. County League final recently where they were beaten by 1 point to a very strong Legion team. Definitely no shortage of players coming through from the underage in Firies.

Ya I think it was a minor game I saw them play against South Kerry a few years ago, would have been 2016 I'd say as there is a picture of them here before a county minor quarter final that year against West Kerry. kerryseyephotosales.photoshelter.com/image/I0000S7J78DVKAqMStar players were Niall Donohue and Donnacha O'Sullivan. Does Donnacha still play any bit?

Firies always had a big pick in my book - Farranfore, Ballyhar, Firies but the housing growth in Firies has really been a game changer The clubs looks well organised . along with the football, hurling at underage also very much promoted and ladies football also now well establised A club that is going places in my view. Ardfert also have big numbers at underage , are not far off a district team at this stage the way they are getting players out of hurling clubs nearby i.e. Kilmoyley, Ballyheigue and the odd one from Causeway like Brandon Barrett. I can see them back up intermediate before too long

I can see them back up intermediate before too long What Firies did was make a conscious decision when the age groups changed to U17 at minor level to disregard the typical junior team set up and enter a second team in the county league and get proper structured football to enable all senior players the chance to play competitive football throughout the year. That prevented any fall off, which most clubs are experiencing since the age group changing. The end result is, they have a very healthy and competitive squad of 40 odd seniors that they can now call upon for championship football. As one poster alluded to above, they have a significant catchment when you consider their neighbouring clubs are Ballymac, Castleisland, Currow, Castlemaine and the Killarney borders, the influx of families from the Killarney area only strengthens their hand. But all in all, they are a progressive club, run well and now benefiting from correct decisions made at top level.
