Is that for certain sure? Would like to get to see my own club play but was hearing nothing had been set. Awfully late in the day to be not knowing date you play. The players deserve better.

The junior & premier junior clubs know their fixtures, I know my fixture details for 3rd August. Maybe the county board webpage is simply not updated, or may not be undated until this weeks Senior and Intermediate fixtures re completed.
But the club secretaries know.

I have spoken to people from several clubs at Junior level who have no idea when or where they are playing as of today.

Just coming back to this: clubs got an email in last 48 hours stating that round 1 of Junior and Prem Junior will be played August 3rd but that no times or venues will be announced until Monday coming as the board are struggling to get pitches! It’s abysmal stuff that clubs will be told championship football fixtures 6 days prior. The board showing a complete disregard for players and clubs.

All I say is it is no wonder so many young fellas are moving away or in general away from football. I commend the board often in terms of financial responsibility, infrastructure development etc. However, when it comes to our treatment of our club players and regard for their personal lives, in my opinion it is nothing short of shambolic. It is about time a player’s association was set up and included players in annual fixture schedules and discussions. Surely with paid people on our board there should be a plan laid out in all eventualities for Kerry’s departure for the championship. A Kerry club player probably has more games and a longer season than any other club player in the country and this is the type of nonsense they must contend with. Three major issues which I believe need to be addressed immediately. 1- County league games are being played on most bank holiday weekends. In general weekends before and after are left to the development league. Even if it were for the summer months that no games are to be played on a bank holiday weekend. 2- On top of this default day for the county league fixtures is Sunday if both teams cannot agree which is ludicrous. Again, even for summer months this should be addressed and the default for Saturday at 6pm.
3- No clear path to fixtures once Kerry has exited the championship. Hearing now that it will be run off up until the final stage last year it was semi final stage with a break the year previous to that it was a quarter final and then a break. Where is the consistency? I really feel if players are not consulted going forward, we will lose a massive playing population. Id propose that every club nominates a player to the “Kerry club players association” and they all meet with the board on annual basis relaying any issues or queries they may have from lads on the ground.
If there was any doubt in my mind choosing between a sport the issues outlined above would greatly influence my decision. This dinosaur mentality with fixtures needs a fresh injection to show our players we are listening to them.

Farcical really. Cannot understand why they don't make all the fixtures at the beginning for the entire group for all grades. Give clubs some chance to plan things. Give every team a home and away game before the final round. At least then everyone gets a home game that matters.

Club championship is a joke my club will play in the novice but can’t be played until a few teams get knocked out of the junior teams who shouldn’t be in that grade anyway why not run the novice as 2 groups of 4 or even 4 groups of 3 giving teams more games more competitive games

Just for comparison, my nephew in Cork plays for a Junior club and has known for a month or more where and when his 6 championship games across hurling and football are on. That’s in Cork with 240 odd clubs and 5 grades of both codes. Kerry county board won’t even tell 2 of the 4 football grades when they are playing until 5 days before. It is absolutely disgraceful.

How long was Frank Murphy full time secretary in Cork? A lot of Corkonians would have been less than happy with his fixture-fixing methods at the time! How many people sit down to make these fixtures in kerry? Very disheartening for families and partners planning holidays or otherwise with such short notice. Fixtures are a minefield but players needs should come first.

Our premier junior club champions will play the Waterford champions in the Munster Quarter-Final on 9/10 Nov at a Waterford venue.
Winner plays Limerick champions in the semi-final at Kerry venue if a Kerry club (Limerick venue if Waterford champs win the quarter-final).

Quite an open championship here one would say? Outside of obvious favourites Ballymac, many of the other teams would quietly fancy their chances…. Firies, Keel, Listry can’t be separated by bookmakers as second favourites

Both Ballymac and Keel taking care of business easily enough this evening. Listry have had quite a fall since that final against Fossa 2 years ago. They looked easily the best team in the competition that year but have really fallen apart since then. Impressive from Keel too in that they finished bottom of their group last year.

They were very impressive, very lively and pacey, a team to watch, but I feel they may not win it this year but will go deep in competition, looked very fit too, even the older keel players

Castle beat Waterville 1.12 to 1.11.
Some fantastic scores by Alan Fitzgerald and and a good goal by Thomas O'Donnell helped the home side to a 7 point lead at HT with the aid of a huge wind.
Waterville to their credit took thr game to Castle in the 2nd half and were level with 3 minutes remaining only for a free to win it for Castle.
Waterville can feel unlucky not to take a draw but it's Castle that progress.
