Group 1: Still up in the air with first round being delayed. All will come down to Brosna v Ardfert this weekend to see who will join Firies you’d imagine. Group 2: Senans and Ballymac gone through. They will have a good battle for top spot. Churchill will be very disappointed with the 2 comprehensive defeats they have suffered. Group 3: Keel and Annuscaul gone through. Listry will also be very disappointed with how their championship has gone Group 4: All teams still have a chance to go through. Castlegregory will be expected to beat Pats well, which will leave it up to Waterville v Currow with Waterville needing a comprehensive win to go through

Very disappointing that none of the South Kerry teams have won a game (nor have St. Mary’s in the intermediate). The remaining teams have been compatible in the Junior but none of them have been mentioned as possible winners in that thread. It wasn’t that long ago that there was 4 or 5 South Kerry teams playing in the intermediate championship. I I know population is an issue but you would still hope that the teams could be more competitive than they are being right now.

Competitive rather than compatible I presume. It's sad to see SK teams doing so badly but I cannot see much changing with the way the population is going.

Typo that I just fixed (thank god for edit buttons). As much as population is an issue, there has to be more underlying problems that there has been such low representation on Kerry underage teams in the last decade or so. I think it’s something the Co. Board has to look into similar as Eamon Fitzmaurice did in North Kerry.

The representation from both NK and SK on the Kerry senior team recently is minimal… One from each region, Jason Foley and Graham O Sullivan. Compared to the days not so long ago with Galvin, Maher, Enright, Declan, Killian, Bryan to name only a few. Talent from both areas sprinkled all over the field.

Agree, but North Kerry have been a serious force at U15, U17 and U20 level over the last four or five years....
Players are coming again.... but it is as School Level that the big push should be....

Ballyduff have a few lovely footballers coming through, Kevin Goulding, Evan Boyle and Adam Segal. I think North Kerry clubs will produce a few senior kerry footballers down the line.

Great win for Currow tonight below in Waterville, 2 goals from Kevin Fitzgerald and John Curtin coming in with 5 points. I believe they finished top of the group as st pats beat Castlegregory by a point. Definitely underdogs for the championship ⚫️🟡

Quarter-final away teams: St. Senan's, Annascaul, Castlegregory, plus runner-up Group A - Firies/Ardfert loser (Firies if a draw)

A virtuoso performance by Cillian Trant inspired Senans. Keel were 8/13 favs going into the game but Senans power around the field was a key difference. Great to see Senans use the long kick out so successfully too instead of taking the easy option short. Firies beat Currow 2-13 to 3-8. Firies probably struggled to victory a little more than people thought here. They are a very young team. They would probably need Jack Sherwood back in order to win it, not sure what his situation is

I didn’t see the St. Senans match today but Cillian Trant is a young man I have frequently suggested should get a run with the Kerry team , at midfield or at wing forward. Strong in the air and durable as they come. The genes are right too. Grandnephew of Dr. Jim Brosnan and great grandnephew of Con Brosnan. A fine hurler with Crotta as well,
Sadly, Cillian may have to wait until the reign of Jack is over. It would appear that Jack does not like the cut of his jib.

Ardfert looked impressive at times v Castlegregory out in Kilmoyley but the game got a bit hot tempered at times.
Daithi Griffin was having a great game until he was sent off. The wing back Ferris was also excellent.
Ardfert have a very strong & fit bench to call on with the 3 Kerry county hurlers Colin Walsh (a goal), Eric Leen and Ronan Walsh all making an impact.
Ardfert v St Senans should be a cracking semi final with both sets of players well known to eachother in both the hurling & football circles in North Kerry.

Ballymac would be the favourites definitely but it’s not going to be a stroll by any stretch.
I think they will beat Firies and I think Ardfert might scrape over Senans. On face of it you would fancy Ballymac to win final but it’s a question of can they just get over the line then. Will the psychological burden affect them or will they finally win it?
Just to echo what Veteran has said, Cillian Trant is one of a few players you would have to say deserves a look in with Kerry based on form.

Kilmoyley(Lerrig) is a great venue for football even if Kilmoyley is a hurling club. A good few Kilmoyley hurlers play under age football with Ardfert , Rob Monohan the most known in recent times and you have Jordan Brick and Ronan Walsh now so the connection are there with Kilmoyley also in Ardert parish in diocese terms Ardfert are using Kilmoyley rather than Ardfert pitch as their home venue for championship matches in recent times, Kilmoyley(Lerrig) is a far better pitch. Ardfert are motoring very well particularly when you consider they have lost Mackessesey, Monohan and Brandon Barrett Seems to have a huge squad also Hard to call the Senans match, could well be a draw

Regarding Cillian Trant, he is a first cousin of the Corridan boys of Finuge/Lixnaw.
