I also watched the game back that was posted and agree it was a fine game which could have gone either way but also noticed mayo had no forward who started that game with maybe the exception for Doherty that we should expect to see lined out for Mayo on Sunday.

Absolutely shocking news up here this evening about Red Óg Murphy. A rising talent at 21 years young. What a leveller. RIP.

I don’t agree with the narrative in some places that this is a must win game for Kerry and that we are under pressure to win it now having lost to Tyrone. If we perform well and lose I don’t think it will make too much difference come championship. It’s no harm at all losing at this time of year, it gives plenty of time to work on weaknesses shown up by defeats. I would also like to see the likes of David Moran get some minutes into the legs and Joe O Connor & Dylan Casey get some more exposure at this level. I’ve no doubt Kerry are good enough to beat Mayo, given enough possession. This, I feel, may be our biggest issue, come Sunday. Mayo have the best midfield in the country, in my opinion. Around the middle they will try and make it as disjointed and chaotic as possible. Our midfield and half forward line will have to work like dogs to tag the counter attacking Mayo back line. I think it will be a very close game, might even have a small wager on a draw. Looking forward to Sunday and safe travel to all attending.

Delighted to see David Moran back in the panel. A bit disappointed that Dylan Casey and Tony Brosnan are relegated.

Yeah I think brosnan deserves his place over geaney. Graham vs Dylan is a 50/50 really really strong bench of course it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if there was an announcement at 15.55 Sunday saying number 25 Sean o Shea replaces number 15 Paul geaney either...

That is as strong a defensive unit as we can put out and will not concede scores cheaply .
Midfield still very much on probation and forward set up puzzling . Assumption is that Adrian will come out to assist midfield and Stephen will slot into his space leaving Geaney and DC inside . Cannot see Tony Brosnan cooling his heels on the bench all day so maybe 2nd half demand for him and Savage at the expense of Geaney and Stephen ? But what do I know ? In Jack we trust so roll on Sunday . Best of luck to our boys and safe travel and return to all .

Brosnan is unlucky not to be there but if he was it would be instead of Geaney. It’s our strongest available forward line otherwise IMO.

Is Dan O'Donoghue the only injured player missing?

Incredibly harsh on Tony Brosnan. But it might just be a horses for courses judgement call by the management Royal, I doubt its about any concerns over Brosnan's ability.

Strong team. I would have swapped White to 7, Begley to the corner and Graham to wing back. Nice to see Moran and Seánie back in some form. Great news for the Championship.
I think Kerry need to win as they need the players to foster a winning mentality in Croker. The last win there was the semi in 2019 and before that I think was 2017 in the q/f v Galway. The last win v Mayo there was over a decade ago. Mayo may have an eye on the Galway game as well so it may not be an indicator should we win. I'd like to hope if we beat Mayo it's because both teams went hammer and tongs.

I agree on winning the game - we need a win in HQ and lifting some silverware there.

Strongest panel we have released all year, I think the starting fifteen is the best XV on form, I was thinking that Graham would slip back into the corner, the form of he and O’Beagleoich, was too good to ignore, I see some are touting swopping both but I think the An Gaeltacht man is better suited to the wing whereas Graham is more versatile, the Dromid man first came to my attention as an serious option when playing in the corner for UCC.
The half forward line has more scope for breaking ball, Adrain will add more muscle to the midfield unit, while Paudie, Dara and Stephen will cover ground and be both the outlet and forward supply line.
Some are thinking the Geaney is harsh call on Brosnan, this to me smacks of Crowley vs Russell in 2004, similar Mayo play low ball to forward units, Geaney gives us an option over the head that Brosnan doesn’t, on the flip side, a cranky Brosnan off the bench with a point to prove is a dangerous commodity for Mayo to handle.
The bench for me is the big plus, Casey, Brosnan, Crowley and the big big bonus, the returning duo of Seanie and Moran,
Our championship XV is taking serious shape. Mayo had the option of springing game changers from the bench, Sunday we can spring Seanie, Brosnan and possibly Moran.
Jack has never been one for dummy teams, so I take it the named XV will start.

Looking forward to Sunday and will be interesting on a number of levels, not least to see if we can right some of the things that seriously malfunctioned on our last visit there. Much has been made of our penchant for conceeding handy goals, and the 3 conceded that day were pivotal to the outcome. However, with the exception of King David, our forwards were abject that day with only 2 forwards (DC with 6 and PC with 2) amassing more than 1 point from play. Compounded by 1 score from play only by a sub midfielder also with David, Jack and Tommy scoreless, Diarmuid notching a point. To that end, I will be especially interested to see how Monsieurs Spillane x 2, O'Brien and Geaney fare on Sunday - amassing one from play between them on the day against Tyrone, noting the Templenoe men were subs. Dara also didnt score but was clearly unfit and should not have been selected. Dara aside, the jury is well and truly out for me on a number of the forwards listed above - when it comes to the crunch against too level opposition (last 4) on hard ground.

What I like about our team for Sunday is that it's Jacks best team as opposed to a team that's picked to deal with Mayo.
Also it'll be interesting to see what impact we'll get from the bench.

Delighted to see David Moran back in the panel. A bit disappointed that Dylan Casey and Tony Brosnan are relegated. Maybe finish with 'finish with best' 15 tactic? We have about 10 greats and the next 10 are of a similar standard so we may be approaching what Gavin had in that we have a sub that can plug any hole - it is a 20 man game anyway and Moran would hardly be there if he isn't fit.

On the first point if Mayo do win on Sunday Kerry can learn from defeat and I think the result would have absolutely no bearing on a future meeting in the championship. A couple of other points - I am not as convinced as some others about Graham O'Sullivan. He has great attributes like skill and work rate, but sometimes he fails to read the opposition's attack and can be caught in "no man's land". With Kerry dominating most games so far it has not been a major issue. The standard will be higher as the season progresses. Hopefully some coach is working on this. Tony is very unlucky. As I've said before he is a very similar player to David. When one is doing the business the other is redundant. I thought he might have done enough to compel Jack to play both because the combined threat is worth it. Apparently not. Hopefully this can also be resolved.
