Great win when you consider we went up there down a lot of injured players including Seanie, and David only playing a half, against a good Armagh team. The defence again was excellent, we’re a very difficult team to break down now. Going the other direction, in the first half especially I thought we coped with numbers behind the ball much better than we have in previous years. A patient, controlled build up and changing the point of attack often. David’s 1-2 was crucial, he was excellent when he came on bar the last shot which was a bad decision. Jack Savage had a very good game, was smart with the ball and kicked a few good points. I’m very impressed with Dylan Casey, excellent today. Jason Foley did a good enough job of limiting Rian O’Neill. Stephen O’Brien had his best performance in the last 2 years I thought. The main negative was we lost a number of kickouts in the second half, that will have to be looked at. Overall a very positive display, I wasn’t confident of a win beforehand.

Armagh never really materialised and went missing for large parts of the game showed up a bit more in the second half. Difficult to make sense of Armagh, got to play against the best team in the country and beat by a goal.
Kerry didn't put much effort in either and were comfortable for large portions of the game. It is likely to be a case of both teams achieving their goals and having nothing to play for. Hopefully we will meet again in the championship for an all or nothing game.
Hope you all enjoyed your trip to AG and safe journey home.

Was looking to see if Killian Spillane, given the start today could put his name on the starting team going forward, was hoping for more to be honest.

Fully agree - was hoping that today he would really take control as the folic point of the attack today but didn’t get into the game at all. I would say he is well behind Tony Brosnan now who seems to have more drive aggression and bite about him.

Armagh got a couple of gimme frees for overcarrying off short kickouts when it looked to me like the defenders were clearly being fouled (yes, I'm biased but..). Ryan seemed reluctant to go short after that, understandably.

I thought we were poor today Looked tired and ragged Passing was poor Kick outs when we went long we struggled to win possession We lost possession easily and got caught in possession too much That’s not a great Armagh team by any means
Dylan Casey is getting better and is settling into his new role well Adrian Spillane put in a good effort Would like to see Joe O’Connor get a start give Barry a rest

Still though, Ryan wanted to go short with every kick out. Last year against Tyrone we saw that this isn’t always a good thing. I’d like to see us mix it up a bit more and not always go short.

The big take away from the league so far is that the management have learnt to trust their bench and in fairness the players on the bench have earned that trust through their performances, they will push the starting 15, as well as provide quality to close out games .

What a satisfying win that was,
The ref was appalling for both teams and lost control in the second half.
I was delighted with Dylan Casey, looks every bit the Kerry footballer.
Jack Savage was very good, demanding the ball, setting up plays and adding that edge we need.
Jack Barry was very good along with Diarmuid.
Paidi has a great game and kicked the score of the game in the second half.
Killian Spillane was very quiet and you'd wonder what the lads confidence is like.
One finally point almost satisfying was another clean sheet and I was tempted to reply to Mick during the week who questioned that however I think its plain to see our backs are playing great stuff.

Another win and clean slate. I thought Jason, Diarmuid and Paudi were good and Adrian did a lot right. Jack Savage was good too and shouldn't have been carded. All in all a good league campaign and Kerry have moved on from losing leads and games tightly to putting together an impressive streak. Championship will throw up different challenges though and The Dubs have risen from the dead. Midfield was found wanting in the second half especially and, apart from one glorious fetch in the first half, Jack Barry was well beaten for most other kickouts. Im happy to be looking forward to a League Final.

Stephen O'Brien had a huge game today, worked his socks off all over the pitch. Great to see. Paudie, DOC, Jason immense as well. Clifford different class when he came on.
Pity about the shooting first half, should have been much more comfortable at HT. Still, it made for another one that we had to grind out so what harm?

Would love to see Stephen O’Brien regaining the form of a few years ago - would be a huge addition to our half forward line.

Positives - 2 points, panel depth really showing signs of strength, defence working well as a unit Negatives - midfield struggle at times, some very poor shooting, lack of scoring forwards with a lot of reliance on DC and the absent SOS
Ref watch - felt two fouls given against Kerry on contested kicks out went the wrong way and made the game closer. Highlights the danger of the short kick outs when they are contested and the ref is the arbitrator of iffy decisions that could be costly. However midfield were not winning enough.
In need of serious work - kick outs and more guys taking (successful) scoring opportunities

Good to get out of Armagh with another test, another close game, another clean sheet and most importantly another win. The positives were the performances of the Kerry defence (especially Dylan Casey), the performances of Stephen O'Brien, Paudie Clifford and Jack Savage up front and that Joe O'Connor got some minutes into the legs and we can now afford to rest midfield players. Also though Diarmuid O'Connor was doing well until that head injury.
Negatives: Spillane and Brosnan were poor today. Tony was too quick to shoot on sight and had some poor wides whilst Killian didn't get involved in the 1st half at all apart from a couple of poor wides. Kick outs in the 2nd half, we were cleaned out. Both short and long, we got caught in possession too easily from our short kickouts. Long kickouts we just looked tired when contesting them in the 2nd half.
However, it's very positive that we got the win. Especially when we were missing the following: Seánie O Shea Dan Donoghue Paul Murphy Mike Breen Gavin White Gavin Crowley David Moran Dara Moynihan
Kerry are in a great place, a changed team for Tyrone next Sunday will give more fellas a chance and then a league final the following weekend and a chance for a lot of these guys to win a 1st Croke Park final in Kerry colours.

And Seanie O Shea, And David Clifford for half the game. I forgot to mention earlier too that Stephen O Brien was immense and was everywhere on the pitch.

Re jersey clash- looks like Armagh changed jersey but we didnt have to? Thinking back to Mayo game where both sides ‘had to’ wear alternative jersey- what am I missing?

Kerrys Dark Blue might have been too close to the black. I didn't think the clash of colours would have been a a problem. Kerry and Armagh both usually wear their own jerseys when playing each other.

Armagh also wrote the black jersey at home to Tyrone on the day of all the red cards. There may be an element of county boards trying to sell the second Jersey.

Would love to see Stephen O’Brien regaining the form of a few years ago - would be a huge addition to our half forward line. stephen has improved his game, his runs forward are more measured and heads up, the ball into Clifford for a goal is an example, previously Stephen was heading into trouble , great to see him going well, need all players we can to win SAM

Lads Kerry would have buckled last year under that pressure in the second half.
There is a real steel there now.

Must say the Athletic Grounds looked great today. Cracking atmosphere too.
Had to laugh at the Armagh youngsters making a beeline for Clifford & co at the end. Not exactly flattering to their own players.

Not exactly flattering to their own players. Some Ulster fans support their own counties obviously but they are also fanatical GAA supporters in general - I was surprised at the number of them that collected and wore other counties jerseys and not just their own club or county colours. Clifford has national superstar status so not surprised to see him mobbed for autographs and selfies - not an insult or slight to their own in any way shape or form.

Good performance, atmosphere was great / important to win another tight encounter. Positives - defensive structure held throughout; Brian O’Beaglaíoch did very well again - made a vital turnover when we needed momentum, turning into a key member of this team; Jack Savage came in for some amount of treatment in the first half - linesman missed 90% of it - Kerry sideline were furious, Savage made a positive contribution overall - looked for the ball continuously; DC was instrumental to the victory; Paudie had his best game in a while - strong running and decision making; O’Brien was a playmaker - superb pass to DC for the goal; Adrian put in another serious shift - covers huge ground, a real disruptive force; Casey was excellent throughout. Kickouts started well - in 2nd half when Armagh pressed we struggled to find our men - I think we lost 5 on the trot at a key period in the game. Felt we struggled with distance. Great competition for places in the half back line. The inside line is a conundrum - aside from DC who’s going to get 2/3 scores??

Well done on your victory folks. It was well deserved. We cant really have any complaints about the result. We just weren’t at it today, which was down to Kerry as well. We never seemed to get closer than the 3 points in the second half, and Clifford coming on just made the difference really.
Disappointed, but we didn’t play well enough to get anything. And had we nicked a goal at the end , I thought it would have been undeserved.
Safe journey home.
