Not a bother Veteran. It's not as good or as as detailed as your own reports, but I'm up at 5 for work so the cot is beckoning me!

Great game in Tralee this evening for a fiver entry. The big crowd present shows the appetite that's out there for good football. MTUK were very deserving of their win. The tackling by the backs was hard but fair, especially in the first half. It was like Aidan O'Mahony was out on the pitch himself! No Mike Breen or Dara Moynihan on show, but they managed grand without them. Tony Brosnan and Tomás O'Shea were a handful in the full forward line when the ball went into them fast. Once they got the ball in hand they were unstoppable and clinical with their finishing. Jack Savage slowed the ball down a lot at to times and got a lot of rough treatment. If he ever learns to concentrate on his own game instead of looking for help from the referee, he'll be a lot more valuable to the teams that he's on. Evan Looney at wingback and Daragh Lyme at 9 impressed too. Chris O'Donoghue was good for MTUC, but Mush made no impression against Fionán Mackessy. Overall, a good performance from MTUK, but MTUC were poor enough. However, I think that MTUC won't have enough to be thereabouts when the gold and silver is decided. Tralee look to have quite a strong team if they can get Breen and Moynihan back fit. When you mention rough treatment on savage, was he being fouled or what do you mean? Mush has the ability to really blow hot & cold and it sounds like tonight was no different. He struggles with a really tight marker and more or less needs a free role where he can pick up and run from deep.

Tralee have a very strong 15 and a few good subs. They seem to be better organised than other teams at the moment too. If they can get Moynihan and particularly Breen back I think they could be dark horses for the Sigerson. It’ll take a very strong team to beat them. It’s great to see 14 Kerry starters and an up and coming, young manager. It’d be very positive for Kerry football if they can give it a right good go.

Anyone know how Stefan got on today To be honest he had little impact on the game when he came on at HT. His physicality and athleticism is impressive.

MTUK did well in attack and defence - thought they struggled at mid field at times where they lost a lot of kick outs (including their own) particularly in the second half. Some good combination play by MTUK forwards in first half but again in the second half felt that both Brosnan and Savage took too much out of the ball and this resulted in turnovers and contributed to the lack of second half scores. Enjoyable game but whether it was the golden jerseys or the lighting it was challenging to identify players at times - two huge panels and several changes from the program. Ref left both teams go at it with some big hits and borderline tackles - think he brandished 3 cards in the game - it was a real Sigerson game from that perspective.

By"the rough treatment on Savage", I meant that he was really tightly and physically marked by his man, which is to be expected, but anytime that he passed it off, he was aggressively stopped in his tracks from carrying on in support, sometimes being dragged to the ground. Any decent forward worth his salt should expect that these days, and learn how to park the frustration and get on with the game. At one stage in the first half, when he was on a run with the ball, got a small tip from a back. He stopped up without a whistle having been blown to give out to the referee! When teams know that he's going to react like this, he'll always get 'special treatment". In saying this, I do think that he could be getting a bit more protection from referees.

There are advantages to being yesterday’s man. The Examiner suggested that Greg Horan did well as a sweeper. What did you think? Greg did well alright. Nothing fancy, he intercepted a lot of ball, and shifted it on safely. MTUC had a big full forward, David Buckley from Newcestown, who was very good at winning the ball, but his decision making with it was very bad. If he was on his game, Greg and the rest of the backs would have been tested more.

You're right about the jerseys.....it was very hard to identify the MTUK players at times. The panels were indeed huge...42 with MTUC and 39 with Tralee! Watching them all trying to get a decent warm up in was like watching a full pitch at a Cúl Camp!

The break till first week in February will give kerry a chance to get their injuries sorted, if they can get Breen and DM back, a huge boost to the squad. Games next week see losers from winners round, play winners from game between last weeks losers. UCC tonight, live streamed, a bit of kerry interest.

Ok so, he was continuously being taken out off the ball and the ref was doing nothing so he complained about it. Seems like a logical approach, you do know taking lads out off the ball is not in the rules?

What I'm saying is that Jack is long enough in the tooth at this stage to get on with the game, stop complaining and reacting to everything that goes on and punish the opposition with his undoubted skills.

Tralee wont be an easy draw for any team in the quarters based on what I’ve seen in the last 2 weeks. Very strong forward unit with tony brosnan, savage and ryan o grady very impressive tonight. Some of the scores by brosnan were pure class. They look strong around the middle too with mark o Shea and darragh Lyne helped ably by fionan mackessy who kept gavin o Brien very quiet. I was very disappointed by mush personally. Mike breen was not togged at all tonight which is a worry but the backs held their own with evan looney and greg horan doing particularly well. Mike Potts struggled on damien gore who was the only shining light for a relatively poor CIT team. Fionan Mackassey the Kerry hurler is some unit of a youngfella. He must be 6 foot 5 is he?

But sure that’s hard to do if you’re constantly being taken out off the ball. We need more officials on the field so that skilful players can be allowed to play the game as too many are being fouled out by hammer throwers. Noel o Leary made a career out of taking lads out off the ball, that shouldn’t be allowed to happen

Diarmuid O’Connor, Dylan Casey, Daniel O’Brien, Cian Gammell, Conor Geaney and Niall Geaney all likely to start. Michael O’Gara, Conor Hayes, Sean Quilter and Dylan Geaney are others who could see game time.

Anyone know how Stefan got on today To be honest he had little impact on the game when he came on at HT. His physicality and athleticism is impressive. Yeah seemed to cruise through the half. Marked Jason McGee for a good spell and kept him quiet but did very little on the ball. Can't believe UL didn't put him back to Full Back considering they were destroyed under the high ball. Got a late black card and seemed bemused considering he ended up underneath the LYIT player but the cameras missed it.

His main contribution was one very good turnover, his tackling seems to be very good. Agree it was madness they didn’t put him into full back near the end.

Problem is that it's pot luck whether the 4 umpires are going to make any contribution to the officiating on a given day. Likewise the linesmen too, sometimes. O'Leary only existed to get lads sent off.

Dylan Casey gone off with a knee injury. Was down for treatment for a couple of minutes.
Diarmuid just scored a penalty after Conor Geaney fielded a lovely ball.
Still 2-13 2-6 to UCD
