Completely disagree, ok admittedly you will not see a 1-18 to 2-12 score line but for edge, physicality and unpredictability or seasonal football you won't get better.
Down in the graceful South or the East O'Donoghue invariably it's St. Mary's or Crokes, Rathmore in East... pradictabe not so in NK. No consistency, no co league placing or divisional status, the likes of division 5 Ballyduff could easily beating a div 1 or 2 of a Listowel/Desmonds.
Funnily enough the NK Board is the richest in Kerry- why, cos crowd support. People will travel from all over Kerry to see a NK final, I've met people from Clare, Limerick and Tipp cos of the "occasion".
And yes the county board recent this bank balance.
I don't think many outsiders would travel to see a St Brendans, West Kerry or South Kerry Final.
Look at Brosna, county, Munster and all Ireland champions- but have never won an NK title cos of the competitiveness.

Horse I haven't been to Brosna in a long time, will Brosna be able to handle a massive game such as an NK final?

Horse I haven't been to Brosna in a long time, will Brosna be able to handle a massive game such as an NK final? Not sure there will be a massive crowd this time. It's last year's final and it feels like they're just getting it out of the way. No publicity or hype about it at all. And then this year's competition will be hot on its heels. Brosna's a nice little ground btw.

I was there at a an underage blitz over 10 years ago now and it's a lovely ground in fairness to them.
Hopefully theyl get a good crowd, a lot will depend on the weather I suppose.

Fine fine venue now K'boy, played there this year and the players said it was like a carpet. The club have invested a lot and you can see the fruitition. I can't see a big crowd going as this is the 2020 competition and board are only going through the motions, I would expect a bigger crowd for the first round games of Finuge vs St Senans or Ballyduff vs Tarbert of this year's C'ship.

At least 4 Covid cases in the Ballydonoghue camp. Should go ahead regardless. Presumably this will push it back two weeks so this years competition will most probably be affected as a result.

Awful talk by some of us above - if ye knew someone who had Covid then ye might see things differently.
I'd say the forum wishes everyone a speedy recovery and appreciates Desmond's compassion.

Well said Horse. Its a special competition and one with a deep history and tradition, long may it last! It's a bad sign when an asylum seeker is the only online defender to the NK championship..... the grå must be festering and taking root. Ya K'boy Brosna is a very progressive club very proactive and have serious work done on their wee club and grounds and now their hard work and graft is coming to fruitition.

About 2 or 3 months ago you suggested that Kerry had been fooled by Tyrone in a similar situation but now when it's your own club it's a different story. At least be consistent.

About 2 or 3 months ago you suggested that Kerry had been fooled by Tyrone in a similar situation but now when it's your own club it's a different story. At least be consistent. I am consistent but you should think before you post such sick commentary. It's not often I'd take offense but I do not believe any club would do what you appear to believe Ballydonoghue did. As for Tyrone, well I haven't seen or heard anything since that has me reconsider what I believed, and indeed what most believed at the time, 'they played a blinder' as PatS said on TSG! So yes it is different but not for the reason you put forward - your logic says every club would be lying if a player got Covid and they had to withdraw and so to remain honest they should endanger others, prey on the vulnerable - one infected person could infect thousands and this is the very 'superspreader' that will delay a return to normality. Either you didn't think this through or you are a nut case? The pitch in Brosna is a credit to rural clubs and we will have our annual spirited NK final when people can safely attend.

Four games listed for throw in this weekend, Saturday; Brosna vs Duagh as well as Ballyduff vs Tarbert
Sunday has and Moyvane vs Desmonds Finuge vs St Senans
For me Senans, Castleisland should win, I'll also give a hesitent vote to Duagh even away from home.
Ballyduff & Tarbert is the tie of the round for me, I'd give a vote to the hurling boys to prevail.
But with NK one never knows.

Ballydonoghue playing Castleisland on Sunday in 2020 final, Desmonds are well rested after Sunday's mismatch, the Newtown boys have really fallen from grace.
When ye play Bally in two weeks they will be after a tough clash. Barry is playing well for ye and was the missing link last year for a three in a row challenge.
The split season suits Ballyduff.
For me Castleland, Brosna, Ballyduff and Senans are my semi finalists.

Ballyduff 4-08 Tarbert 1-10 Brosna 2-12 Duagh 1-09 Finuge 0-07 St Senans 0-12 Moyvane 0-04 Castleisland Desmonds 5-18 Jays horse judging by the score lines, none of those games looked like classics, does the NKC take a while to get going? 🤔

Depending on the clash, admittedly round one has been a non-event bar Tarbert/Ballyduff . The quarters are more evenly matched.

Ballydonoghoors were forced to play Senans in '18 NK final just a week after semi replay vs was it Duffers? Rules state 2 weeks min break so hopefully we won't have to surrender again.
Is it just that Moyvane haven't a vintage crop or what - God be with the days when they were well up there. It is a geography that would be hit hard with rural depopulation, being on the border doesn't help though proximity to Limerick City would be no harm. What about Knockanure?

I saw castleisland against Na Gaeil a while back in the intermediate and although they lost they still looked handy, saying that I wasn't impressed by the castleisland players when they played for St kierans against KOR. What are listowel like these days?

in the 18 final senans were the better team on the day and the week between bally s semi and final had no bearing on the match.A team in tipperary are after playing hurling and football 17 weekends in a row culminating in winning the football ch ship with the hurling final to come
