Who are the main men to watch out for with Mid Kerry? Co. Board have fixed for Churchill, between that now and Healy Park last last week, it just shows the respect this competition is getting from the powers that be. Hogan, Clifford and Gannon in the full forward line. GAME OFF U15 Semi Final Game between North and Mid Kerry fixed for 12 noon has been postponed due to adverse weather. Common sense so fair play county board - Churchill would have been fair rough as wide open.

Hermit the NK U15 lost this morning 3-15 to 1-15, it was a game that half ran away from them early on, in the first quarter NK squandered a pile and went in 1-06 to 0-01 down at first water break, in fairness they battled back in second half to close the gap but in the last five minutes when chasing and snatching at goal chances instead if keeping the score board ticking over Mid Kerry pounced for the third goal to kill the tie. Mid Kerry are a very good outfit, two serious corner forwards with Stephen Gannon and Daire Hogan getting the majority of the 3-15. NK will learn and develop and tried to the end but in honesty Mid were marginally the better team.
I will say one thing though - how a county semi final can be officiated over without four neutral umpires is challenging, it should be mandatory for referee's to bring a team with him for any game at this level.

Saw that Horse, sounded like they made a really brave comeback though. Hope yer not too despondent in the house tonight, onwards and upwards its been a very positive year for underage NK football.

Under 15 District Final. 14/11/21 in Fitzgerald Stadium. Mid Kerry 5-4 Tralee District 0-11.
Wasn't a great match. Tralee were well the better team in the first half, but kicked an awful lot of handy chances wide or into the keepers arms. A good goal by Darragh Hogan kept Mid Kerry in it. Stephen Gannon always dangerous, but Mid Kerry had very little ball in first half. Paddy Lane was out around the middle of the field, won some good kickouts and came into the play from there. He scored a few nice points, but a lot of wide's. Mid Kerry couldn't handle him at all. 0-8 to 1-3 at HT. Mid Kerry got a goal and a point in the first minute of the second half and never looked back. David O'Brien went on Lane and quietened him. Lane even kicked a 21 yard free wide from dead centre. Stephen Gannon played havoc whenever the ball went into him. Darragh Hogan good too. 1 soft goal through the keepers arms, but it was over by then. Best for Tralee, Ben Murphy from Stacks was outstanding, he's big, strong, fast, skilful and under age again next year..... a definite minor in '23 and '24 I reckon, Sean Óg Brosnan, Daniel Kirby, Thomas Deregee (when played as a sweeper), Jake Hoare and Lane and Tomas Kennedy in 1st half. For Mid Kerry, Jamie Casey, David O'Brien, Gearoid Evans (in the 2nd half), Niall T O'Brien (in the 2nd half) Stephen Gannon, Darragh Hogan, Dara Clifford. Teams. Mid Kerry..Jamie Casey, David O'Brien, Shane Clifford, Aaron Dingam, Cian O'Brien, Dan Corcoran, Gearoid Evans, Eoin O'Connell, Keelan O'Sullivan, Timmy Galvin, Niall T O'Brien, Jack McGrath, Stephen Gannon, Dara Clifford, Darragh Hogan. Best subs...Patryk Randy and Michael Burns. Tralee.... Steven Conway, Sean Heaslip, Donnacha Horgan, Ciarán Kavanagh, Ben Murphy, Sean Óg Brosnan, Daniel Kirby, David Lucid, Paddy McMahon, Jake Hoare, Sean Corkery. Paddy Lane, Thomas Deregee, Tomas Kennedy. Man of the match.. Stephen Gannon

As expected, I felt the winner of last Sunday's clash with NK would prevail but sounds like they made hard enough work if it.

Is it time to make the minor county championship an all divisional competition. The County Board proposed to play a club championship at minor level this year. I assume it didn't happen due to time constraints. It's a pity because it would have been a good competition. The clubs did well in Round 1. Glenflesk and Laune Rangers came very close. Dr Crokes had a big win. Austin Stacks have struggled with numbers in recent weeks. I think that it'd be better if the Minor County championship is played like the present Under 15 championship with all divisional teams. The way it is at present, none of the club teams will ever be strong enough to compete competitively at the latter end of the competition, while the divisional areas where those clubs are from invariably suffer from not having those club sides as part of their set ups. You'd then have a couple of extra teams for the minor championship like Tralee District, Eoin Ruadh and possibly Killarney.
