It's worrying to see Stacks getting beaten by 25 points in the first round after getting an awful hammering From Laune Rangers in the league.
The same Stacks then hammer Crokes in the second round. Crokes better hope Kierans play their 2nd team the next day out.

If anyone can clarify the rules to break ties (Kerry GAA Officer, maybe?), we'd all be thankful. The 2021 Eolaire doesn't appear to address the issue. The default GAA rules are If the usual rules for ties weren't being used for this competition, I would have thought it would surely be mentioned in the Eolaire; so I would be suprised if the above weren't the relevant rules.

Report (North Kerry Facebook Page)
KEANES SUPER VALUE COUNTY MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RD. 2 Mid Kerry 1-11 North Kerry 1-9
After their heroics in round 1 our minor footballers were brought back down to earth with a bang on Saturday (September 25th) as the much more determined Mid Kerry side finished just about deserving winners in a very enjoyable and well contested game at picturesque Beaufort. The men from the North really can only blame themselves; giving away possession at vital times and also playing themselves into trouble and certainly can thank their keeper Kieran Mackessy who made at least 3 outstanding saves when goals looked on. The game opened on a bright note for North Kerry with midfielder Robert Stack lofting over a superb long range point, Cormac Dillon followed with 2 from frees before Conor Spillane opened the home sides account with a neat point after 8mins. The visitors were enjoying good possession up to now but in a break-a-way Fergal Griffin kept his side in touch splitting the uprights. Cormac Dillon his sides top scorer with 5pts added another and at the first waterbreak North Kerry were in control and ahead by 2pts. Ben Downey and Shane Evans levelled up the tie by the 21st minute. Points were exchanged by Cormac Dillon and Mikey Moriarty before a late burst from the home side with Fergal Griffin and Conor Spillane giving their side a 2pt lead at the break. Mid Kerry 0-7 North Kerry 0-5.
On resumption North Kerry brought full back Eddie Healy to midfield and here he continued his great form. Rory O Mahony slotted over and in the 12th minute Eddie Healy from the right hand side of the Mid Kerry goal and with a left legged screamer that ended up in the far corner. Cormac Dillon, Rory O Mahony for North Kerry with Jack Teehan quickly replying leaving it 1-9 to 0-9 as we approached the 24th minute with North Kerry just about holding on and in trouble in many possessions with the stronger and more physicial home side getting to grips with the situation and when the home side got a scrambled goal with Conor Spillane claiming it; it really knocked the stuffing out of the visitors. As time ticked away and the sides all square and into injury time and despite plenty North Kerry pressure; Sean Evans and Jason O Connor kicked over the match winning scores. Plenty stars on both sides and for Mid Kerry; Liam Evans at full back covered everybody blade of grass on the field; Mikey Moriarty and Fionan Griffin controlled midfield for long periods while in attack Conor Spillane and Shane Evans impressed. For the visitors their stand out player was Eddie Healy at number 3, the half back line of Rory O Mahony, Adam Segal and Darragh Carey did well, Darragh Conway had plenty moments to remember at midfield while in an attack that never got into their rhythm only Cormac Dillon and Jerh Brosnan made an impact.
Teams and scorers; North Kerry; Kieran Mackessy, Luke Mansfield, Eddie Healy, 1gl, Conor Sweeney, Rory O Mahony, 2pts, Adam Segal, Darragh Carey, Robert Stack, 1pt, Darragh Conway, Jack Sheehan, Cormac Dillon, 5pts, Jack O Keeffe, Jerh Brosnan, Rian Quinn, Kaltyn Molloy. Report (Glenflesk Facebook)
Glenflesk 3 – 7 East Kerry 3 – 12 Two late goals proved the difference as East Kerry came out on top in a fiercely contested local derby with Glenflesk in Group 3 of the County Minor Football Championship. After a couple of wides in the early minutes, it was Glenflesk who opened the scoring with a superb goal. Dylan Roche gliding on to a long delivery, ghosting behind the East Kerry defense, and blasting the ball to the corner of the net with his left foot. East Kerry replied when Mark O Shea curled over an effortless score under heavy pressure. John Kelleher then pointed from well out, just as East Kerry lost midfielder Darran Ryan to a black card. Ryan’s loss did not affect them negatively though, as Palmer got his first goal of the day soon afterwards, finding the corner of the net with a classy left foot finish. Full forward Harry Kelly then converted a free, and his mark and score from Padraig Moynihan’s super pass left East Kerry two points ahead at the water break. The game was getting more and more edgy as time progressed, and stoppages for frees and throw balls were more common than open play. In fact, there was only one more score before half time, Palmer’s point ensuring East Kerry went in ahead by three points after a tense and competitive first half. O Shea again pointed from well out near the sideline to increase the East Kerry lead. A free from Roche brought a much needed score for Glenflesk, as they tried to keep in touch. A strong run from Palmer ended in another point, and when O Shea again found the target, East Kerry looked to be on their way to a comfortable win. Glenflesk though had other ideas. As they increased the pressure on the visitor’s kick outs, they got there reward’s as they earned a free for over carrying. Luke Crowley spotted Callam Cronin free up the field. As Cronin went to shoot, he was fouled from behind and a penalty was given. Crowley stepped up and his low penalty found the bottom corner. Jamie Moynihan point from a hand pass quickly followed. More great pressure from Roche forced a turnover that ended with Crowley again finding the corner of the net as Glenflesk’s hot run continued. From five behind, they now led by two at the second half stoppage. With Eoin Kelly receiving a black card for Glenflesk, Kilcummin’s O Shea got his third point of the day to reduce the lead to one. Glenflesk replied again, as Crowley’s magnificent outside of the right foot shot went straight down the middle. A Roche free after more great pressure brought the lead back out to three. Then East Kerry upped their efforts, and found the scoring run that would eventually prove crucial. They earned a penalty that Palmer coolly slotted down the middle, and then he completed his hat trick with another explosive finish. Crowley replicated his brilliant score from earlier with another audacious effort. East Kerry had control by this stage though, and two more O Shea point’s, plus two from James Horgan meant they took the spoils, after an hour of tenacious action. East Kerry just about did enough to win, and now advance to the quarter finals. Glenflesk again played superbly and believed they could win right to the end. They have played two of the best teams in the County these past two weeks, and were unfortunate not to win at least one. They now face Kenmare District next Saturday, and must put this disappointment behind them. They can be proud of their efforts so far, and go into that match on the back of two outstanding performances. Team 1. Jack O Donoghue, 2. Ignatius O Leary, 3. Ben Switzer, 4. Jack Kenneally, 5. Sean Guerin, 6. Eoin Kelly, 7. Darragh O Connor, 8. Darra McCormack, 9. John Kelleher 0 – 1, 10. Stephen Moynihan, 11. Luke Crowley 2 – 2, 12. Darragh O Connell, 28. Cian Lynch, 14. Report(Stacks Facebook)
MINOR FOOTBALL: Dr. Crokes 2-4 (10); Austin Stacks 8-11 (35). What a turn-around in one week. Last Saturday we suffered a heavy defeat in the opening round of the Co. Championship. On this Saturday our boys proved that last week was a once off as many in the Club knew it was and put on a stunning performance in Lewis Road to keep our chances of progressing in this year’s competition very much alive with a 25 points winning margin against the home side. We meant business from the very start with Damien Hogan pointing a free inside the first minute after Caden O’Mahony was fouled with goal written all over it. A minute later Paddy Lane scored our first from play and all our remaining scores thereafter, bar one more point, came from play. In the 3rd minute the home side went ahead with a goal but this was the one time they had a lead in the game. For the remainder of the half they added just three more points while we added 3 goals and seven points. Two of those goals came from Caden O’Mahony with the third coming from Damien Hogan and Caden also scored three of those seven points with the other four coming from Damien (2), Paddy Lane and Cillian Litchfield. This left us ahead by 3-9 to 1-3 at half time. We improved our goal-fest in the second half, adding five more, with second half substitute Josh Lynch scoring two and the other three coming from Damien Hogan, Caden O’Mahony and Paddy Lane. Our two points came at the start and end of the half – Cillian Litchfield and Josh Lynch on target, But this was a real team performance with all 20 playing superbly throughout the hour as we always knew they could. Team: Michael Tansley, Jack Doyle, Cian Dillane, Donnacha Horgan, Daniel Kirby, Colm Browne, Luke Casey, Cillian Litchfield (0-2), Enda Cahill (Capt), Caden O’Mahony (3-3), Paddy Lane (1-2), Jack Hannon, Sean Moynihan, Damien Hogan (2-3 –two frees), Darragh Moriarty. Subs used: Josh Lynch (37m) (2-1), Pádraig O’Halloran (38m), Mark Carmody (45m), Jamie Horgan (50m), Thomas Derege (52m).

Ya NK have made a good, good few changes to their Mid Kerry game, really shaken up their half forward line, not surprised as this line wa every ineffective in Beaufort.
The clash of both captains Segal from North Kerry and Killoeglins Hassett should be some clash if they line out as selected.

Well Hermit, A right good game back in Caherslee, North Kerry pulled away from Laune Rangers in the end, finishing up 1-18 to 2-10. Killorglin started better but a fumble by their keeper cost them an early green flag. The NK defence didn't fair much better allowing the corner forward to ghost past three to give them an early edge. At this stage listowel's Eddie Healy was at centre back on Hassett and for the remainder they had some tangle with the Listowel man shading it.
NK still don't know their best front six, the slow build up and delay with the final ball has to be rectified. At HT and when in the mix the introduction of Moyvane's Quinn and Sheehan from Tarbert improved the penetration and movement up front.
In the end a series of long range points from Dillon, Segal and Stack gave them the cushion. Healy for me was the stand out player for NK but they have a bit to work on up front despite kicking 1-18. The lateral passing and reluctance by some players to release quick ball has to.be addressed. But still, they are on the right side.

9 October results: Group 1: North Kerry 1-18 Laune Rangers 2-10; Mid Kerry 2-14 South Kerry 1-15. Mid Kerry win the group, North Kerry second. Group winners: Mid Kerry, St. Kieran's and East Kerry Group second: North Kerry, Austin Stacks and St. Brendan's Board. I presume the quarter-final games are on next Saturday, 16 October, but await confirmation from TCB on this.
Edit to delete confusion on how draw made to select the two group winners that go to semi-finals. See next post from Whosinmidfield for details.

Draw made. It was a draw between the 3 group winners to see who’d have to play the quarter final and East Kerry were drawn last so they’ll be involved in the quarter final stage.
The quarter finals matchups are;
North Kerry vs St Brendans
East Kerry vs Austin Stacks
Neutral venues I presume.

Very good game in Lewis Road. South Kerry pushed Mid Kerry all the way eventhough they were reduced to 14 before half time. A penalty goal by Mid Kerry in final qtr the difference between the teams. Conor Spillane scored something like 9 points. Both left and right leg. Played very well.

Laune Rangers 2-10 North Kerry 1-18(Report Via Laune Rangers Website)
Laune Rangers efforts in the County Minor Football Championship came to an end on Saturday afternoon with defeat to North Kerry in Caherslee. It marked the third game versus a Divisional opponent, with the combination of Feale & Shannon Rangers representing 13 different clubs – while the previous games against Mid Kerry (5) and South Kerry (9) meant Laune Rangers came up against teams representing a combined 27 different clubs in their three games.
To that extent, the Division 1 Champions will rue a missed opportunity in both of their opening two fixtures, losing the first by a point and conceding a last kick of the game equallising goal in the second, as the strength in depth of North Kerry saw the pre-competition favourites pull away in the final quarter of Saturday’s game to take a deserved win. Laune Rangers talismanic midfielder Aona O’Shea missed out on the game through injury and joined Ciarán O’Sullivan on the sideline.
Scores were level after five minutes as Darragh Foley & Eoghan Hassett (free) pointed for their sides, before North Kerry took the lead with a goal as Rory O’Mahony pounced on a spilled ball as Adam Carey got caught with the October sunlight in his eyes. Cormac Dillon added a point, but Eoghan Hassett cancelled it out with a pointed free to leave North Kerry leading by 1-2 to 0-2 at the first water break.
Hassett and John Burke scored excellent points in quick succession before Rangers hit the net to take the lead – Jack O’Sullivan with excellent composure to pick up the ball and round a defender before squeezing it under the goalkeeper. Kieran Mackessy came upfield to point a free for North Kerry, while points from Jack O’Sullivan & Eoghan Hassett were answered by one for Rory O’Mahony to leave Rangers ahead by two at the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-6, North Kerry 1-4.
North Kerry had a great start to the second half with five consecutive points through Rory O’Mahony, Jack Sheehy, Jerh Brosnan, Darragh Foley & captain Adam Segal to go three ahead, before Eoghan Hassett stemmed the tide with a pointed free. However, Rangers took the lead again with a second goal as Oisín Birmingham was rewarded for a well timed run upfield as he finished the ball to the net. Cormac Dillon levelled with a point to see the sides tied at 2-7 to 1-10 at the second water break.
The strength in depth of North Kerry came through in the final quarter led by their Kerry Minor contingent up the spine of the team, while Eoin Lynch’s withdrawal to injury in the Rangers full backline was a hammer blow to the club side. Jack Sheehy & Cormac Dillon (free) put North Kerry ahead before Eoghan Hassett pointed a free to pull one back. Another two points by Eoghan Hassett wouldn’t be enough to take the win as North Kerry added points from Robbie Foley, Adam Segal, Rory O’Mahony (2), & Cormac Dillon (2) to ease to a five point win in the final couple of minutes. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-10, North Kerry 1-18.
It is ultimately disappointment for the Laune Rangers side, although they can take pride in the manner of their efforts in their club jersey in the Championship, going toe to toe with Divisional heavyweights & being in the mix in all games until the end. The side will hopefully have a Central Region Competition and/or Mid Kerry Championship to contest before their season ends.
Laune Rangers:- Adam Carey, Killian Spillane, Cathal O’Callaghan, Eoin Lynch, Tom Garry, Ryan Diggin, Oisín Birmingham (1-0), Cillian Foley, Tom Whittleton, John Burke (0-1), Eoghan Hassett (capt, 0-8, 5f), John Tuohy, Darragh O’Grady, Jack O’Sullivan (1-1), Jack Lynch. Subs used: Tim Mangan, David Crowley, Adam Owens, Joe Cronin Langham.
North Kerry:- Kieran Mackessy (Finuge, 0-1), Oisín Kennelly (Moyvane), Eddie Healy (Listowel Emmets), Conor Sweeney (Moyvane), Jack O’Keeffe (Moyvane), Adam Segal (capt, Ballyduff, 0-2), Daragh Carey (Listowel Emmets), Robert Stack (Beale), Darragh Conway (Finuge), Jerh Brosnan (Moyvane, 0-1) Cormac Dillon (Beale, 0-5, 1f), Jack Sheehy (Ballydonoghue, 0-2), Darragh Foley (Tarbert, 0-2), Rory O’Mahony (St Senans, 1-4), Keltyn Molloy (Finuge). Subs: Rian Quinn (Moyvane), Robbie Foley (Ballydonoghue, 0-1)

Conor Sweeney did very well on Darragh O Connor The Goal Was unlucky will be in serious contention for a minor spot
Eddie Healy Was expectional inside full back Aswell as midfield he’s better out the field in my opinion centre half back would be his best position
Jerh Brosnan Was Very Influential In The First Half was well marked by Eddie McCarthy
Cormac Dillon came to light when needed
Odhran Ferris was caught too deep I thought he should’ve moved inside full forward and maybe brought Kieran o Connor out Segal marked him well
Jake Foley had a good game off the bench

Double header in ASP on Saturday, Mid vs Kieran at 3 and East vs North at 5. Making of two good games.
I'm laughing at people saying the 'final' is the winners of East and North.
People forget that Mid Kerry already beat NK in Beaufort three weeks ago

How strong are East underage Horse? Would they be as fearsome as their senior counterparts? It will be a tough ask anyway for the NK crew. But hopefully they might give it a good rattle.

East Kerry have won the last 5 minor championships but this year’s team wouldn’t be on the same level as those teams. They’re still strong though, it should be very tight.

East Kerry will destroy north Kerry. North Kerry have been very lucky to get this far, shouldn't have got out of group. Mid Kerry v East Kerry in final

Before the championship I would have said the 2 strongest teams would be North Kerry and Brendans and North Kerry have got over Brendans. Mid Kerry beat North Kerry in the group but I wouldn’t read too much into that, if they meet again I’d fancy North Kerry. There won’t be much between North and East.

Cheers guys, as ever you just don't know with minors until the day itself. But obviously hoping NK can do themselves justice. We sorely need some green shoots on the club scene up here.
