The hurling co championship was always given short change but this format ever since the split season model last year is an utter farce. Why are the hurling fraternity putting up with it? The competition over in around a month, teams training all year to be gone by the start of July utter madness! What is wrong with giving it a bit of space in August to breath.
Anyway looking forward to being down for the double header Saturday night.
Unfortunately the odds would be on another Ballyduff/Kilmoyley final, but we live in hope.

Is this the year Hermit? end the famine since 1968 The reason I don't go near this thread come the summer Mossie is cause it would inevitably end mourning another year onto the famine. I'm still haunted by 2011, everyone in Kilflynn is. We've been so good underage the last few years you'd think we might have a chance but look how else is left!! If there's any 3 clubs that will break you're heart it's Lixnaw, Kilmoyley and Ballyduff 😭 Still isn't there always hope, even if it's a fool's hope... Crotta kind of came in under the radar in 2011 and nearly sneaked a county title, it wasnt a team back boned by under age success like the present one This is a far more talented bunch Jordan Conway and Cillan Trant in the States is weakening their hand a bit heading into the business end of the championship though they might appear yet!

They had won the Div 1 league the year before so they had a bit of success behind them at the time. Just never pushed on to the next level for whatever reason.

Yes Parnells push on whilst St Brendans produced a mighty come back to claim victory over Kilgarvan The intermediate championship has become more interesting in recent years, Parnells have helped that I know it delays the intermediate final a few weeks but I hope the county board have the final as the curtain raiser to the senior final on the August weekend. It would be a wonderful platform for hurling in Tralee to have Parnells playing on county senior hurling final day and would give a lift to hurling in Tralee as well as to the status of the intermediate competition. It would also boost the attendance considerably and add to the occasion Last year, there was no curain raiser to the senior final, it took from the crowd and the occasion

Although seeing as it was on TV the CB were more than likely happy with the money from TG4 and didn't want to have the extra work. Regardless of the result will Parnells play in Munster? Or will the South Kerry championship winners go forward?

A lot of talk about ticket prices and quality of them recently, but €10 tomorrow for the senior semi-final double headers. Can't ask much more than that, brilliant value!

crotta vs kilmoyley.Kilmoyley have been consistenly good over last 25 years making the semifinal at least in most of these years but with very little under age success.Crotta have won 3 minor titles 2 under 21 s and are current north kerry champions ,but this has not translated thru to senior yet but this will change and i think today will show this.Crottas biggest downfall over the years is the in ability to close out games whereas kilmoyley have that belief.a 50 50 game but crotta might realize their potential today

First game wasn't the greatest but Lixnaw did enough to get the win.
Crotta should really have had a lot more to spare in the second game and probably just about deserved it in the end.
So a Crotta v Lixnaw final. It's really a hard one to call.
Lixnaw would have more experience at this level but Crotta possibly have the better players on paper. Will more than likely come down to a shoot out between the two Shane's.

When was the last time they met in final? Crotta haven't won since 68 I think 1968 since Crotta won last 1999 is the last time Crotta met Lixnaw in the final It went to a replay and Pat Cronin shot the injury time winner for Lixnaw Paul Galvin won the man of the match award and Eamon Fitzmaurice was midfield for Lixnaw Present day Crotta manager Brendan Mahony was playing for Crotta

I'll reply to all this fully in the morning. BUT I'm booked to fly out of Dublin at 5pm on Sunday 6 Aug. If we win I'll never forgive myself 😬. Alice understands the Kerry footbalers obsession, don't think she'll every understand Crotta cooking before the holidays 😭

Surely that can't be right. They have got the short straw all along a Sunday final is the least players amd supporters deserve.

F*CK it I'm changing the flights to the Monday. Will never forgive myself if they did it and I'm in Dublin airport.
My God Shane won that on his own at the end but huge shout out to Barry Mahoney, John Conway and Daniel O'Donoghue.
For anyone that wasn't there last night, what a difference O'Mahony would make to the Kerry hurlers. And I'll stand by this, we could have Brian Cody in charge of us, but not having Shane Nolan in the green and gold is a disgrace.
By the way, had to sit near that bloody Buff Egan last night. Jesus Christ it was hard going trying to watch a game with that fella roaring into his phone 🙄🤣

Was Mike Conway playing in the 99 final? jez you are right, he was, only 16 at the time His son Daragh had a mighty match tonight Kerry hurling has a great tradition of father and sons playing together. This year there was three different times it happened. Mikey Boyle and his son played together earlier in the championship and John Mike and Gavin Dooley have been for the last few years.

Seeing a lot of giving out about the split season on Twitter with people complaining about the Kerry SHC final being played on August 6th. While it isn’t ideal, what do they expect to happen? The hurlers have been out for a good while. Would they rather they sit around for some reason and wait for everything to clash with the football with a further push to eliminate the dual player. This is the best scenario I can think of. While it might be a long while before the hurlers are out again, there really isn’t much else you can do

This is the best scenario I can think of. While it might be a long while before the hurlers are out again, there really isn’t much else you can do What would I expect: 1. That hurlers not be forced to play week-on-week, without a chance to recover from injuries, so that the championship is finished before the TWO football championships are played. 2. That clubs be allowed time to bed in their inter county hurlers before the championship matches are played off. This year, the hurling leagues were cut short as some matches were lost to the bad weather, while we have playoff in the football leagues because we don't use scoring differences to decide ranking. 3. That teams be given a minimum of 3 championship matches, in a similar manner to the footballers. Three senior clubs had their 2 championship matches on successive weekends, while 3 intermediate clubs were dispatched on successive Wednesdays. There is no reason that both a football and a hurling championship cannot run in parallel. If we need to keep divisional teams in the football championship, why not run off the divisional teams in midweek {like the intermediate hurlers} to reduce to a pair, to meet the senior club football championship finalists in county championship semi finals?

Intermediate final this evening should be an interesting one. Parallels more than likely favourites but it's far from a guaranteed.

Great win for Parnells tonight. A win hurling in Kerry has needed. If Crokes stay senior next year it can only be a good thing.
I'm thinking the last time therr was a senior club in Tralee was Stacks in and around 2000 or so.

I'm thinking the last time therr was a senior club in Tralee was Stacks in and around 2000 or so. You are about right , it was there or thereabouts, Stacks were absolutely woeful by then though Stacks were actually very competitive in the senior championsip from the late 1980s through to the mid 1990s Troubled and beat a few of the North Kerry teams and one year I remember them mentioned as a dark horse to win it They were backboned by some superb Tralee players off the Stacks team that won the 1986 Minor County Championship such as Martin McKivergan, Padraig Teehan, David O'Regan. Kerry hurler Seamus Sheehan from Causeway joined them and they had several players from traditional hurling counties living in Tralee. The club then left under age hurling lapse almost completely after the minor won in 1986 so by 2000 hurling in Stacks at senior level was a shambles. This was a shame as Austin Stacks\Rock Street had a great tradition of hurling back along Parnells have reached a few nice milestones the last few years, north kerry under 21 title about 2 years ago, kerry feile title and national feile title last year and now the intermediate championship. Really solid progress , well done to all. They have not only saved hurling in Tralee but are driving it on. Senior will be tough for them though much like it has been for Crokes but best of luck to them

While it might be a long while before the hurlers are out again, there really isn’t much else you can do start a week later so leaving certs dont miss the first round like some did this year, put in an extra wk some somewhere in the schedule as well, basically I am saying start a week later , allow an extra wk in between matches somewhere along the line, applying that the final would be on August 20th. this is not a big ask but as Moth says the TWO football championship trump everthing. It is not right but no one will tackle this problem

Great win for the St Brendans in the minor hurling championship final tonight
This was the third minor final in a row between St Brendans and Ballyduff, augurs well for both clubs
Winners
2021 - Ballyduff 2022 - St Brendans 2023 - St Brendans
Liam Og O'Connor St Brendans had a great match for Brendans and looks an excellent prospect
Evan Boyle Ballyduff is also a great prospect in hurling if football doesnt take over
Oisin Healy, Asdee and kerry minor footballer came on at half time, started last years final, has now played in 3 minor hurling finals in a row with Ballyduff, good to see a lad from Asdee playing hurling with Ballyduff, he may started if he hadnt such big football commitments this year
