No Panic please but reality is we have a lot of work to do. It looked like we had only one forward Clifford ? SOS has gone MIA !! For the second or third week in a row .!!It’s clear we have no kicking or shooting coach in the camp because our finishing was junior football standard that s for goals and points no offense intended to Junior football and I m referring to Club Junior not County .
In the second half Dublin had at least ten attacks always with one or two overlapping extra players so my question is who is picking up these blue jerseys making it 8 against 6 is someone not doing their job? I would say so. We attacked and only went down the center today that’s like going into the lions den all the time . Credit where it’s due we went for it early and if we do some work on our finishing which is not acceptable by Kerry Standards we might keep the score board in better shape and keep the opposition defenders behind the in their own part of the field. Biggest talking points for me today is what is going on with Sean O Shea he’s a quality footballer but can we get him into the game he is supposed to be leader of the attack at no.11 ?? No production here at all John Small got sent off today he’s probably the best wrestler in GAA but how is he getting away with it so Long is hard to fathom fair play to the lines man for finally saying enough is enough he’s a serial offender for years now .Kilkenny is at it too now that’s his latest thing the black card is helping but clearly not deterring these guys . John Small looked shocked when the black card was shown should have walked a lot earlier .We have no chance with this team in the physicality stakes but if we go back to playing football we will do a lot better and that means not having the Dubs showing kerry Players how to score a simple point off either foot ?!!! I m embarrased being truthful.

I thought they were better than that. In the second half they were completely at sea and not fit enough. Maybe its too early to be match fit but how are Dublin so well conditioned this time of year? You'd have to feel for the players there today, playing away in front of a one sided crowd . The home supporters actually cheering ( or jeering) the few scores they got in that forgettable second half. Blaming Fitzmaurice ? I'm not sure. They simply are not up to the level. I'm not an expert, but there were errors today that EF did not make. Missed all our goal chances. A few erroneous reffing decisions, at crucial stages, went against us. Paul Geaney missed a couple of Hail Marys and the crazy suicidal tapping down of a kickout to an opponent. The plusses were a few good points from clifford and the fact that they did manufacture goal chances at all.

Murphy in goal, not going to do it at this level. Kelly put in a huge shift v galway and got dropped. Fitz would want to start winning games and forget about winning mind games! Also losing What have you based this analysis about Murphy on? He did nothing hugely wrong today, made good saves, from a kick out point of view he is let down by a poor midfield and static half back line. Also Dublin pushed up on the Kerry kick outs.

Thought the ref blackguarded us today at times. Called two foul handpasses that definitely weren't which resulted in scores for Dublin and there was a lot of blocking and holding by the Dubs off the ball. Same man was involved in the Diarmuid Connolly push last year so maybe he was trying to make up for it.

I thought Michael Darragh McAuley was just outstanding today. I didnt see that coming. And to think that they won the All Ireland in 2017 without him. He is a scamp too of course but every team has those. It was a game of two halves really. Once Barry OSullivan, Sean OSe and the off colour Paul Geaney went off, the game was over.
Having Michael Geaney and Adrian Spillane in the half forward line at the same time means not enough scoring power in the half forward line.
The biggest disappointment for me was the number of poor attempts at scoring. Some of the shot selection was poor.
I thought Shane Murphy pretty well in the circumstances as regards kickouts.
Dublin seem to be better than last year.

March 11th - timely reminder of the mountain we must climb this year. We came into the league with minimal expectations and thankfully picked up early points- another win hopefully against Kildare and we should have mission accomplished with regards the league.
Loads of prospects have been given their opportunity and hopefully EF now knows the shape of his Championship squad and in particular those who are not ready yet.
Two more league games and then the serious business of developing a game plan for the panel at our disposal. Sadly Dublin’s biggest challenge looks like coming from within this year- if they play to their ability nobody will get close to stopping the 4 in a row.
We live in hope...

Awesome stuff from the Dubs today. Fair play to them.
Of course there will be a lot of soul searching from our lads after today but lets not get carried away please.
Our goals this year should be to try and stay in Div 1 and blood and look at as many players as we can.
Qualify for the Super 8s and have a game at home, a game in Croke Park as well as a game in where ever it may be.
All these games will stand to us in the longer term. Baying for blood now is ludicrous.
Our boys were well beaten today but for Gods sake give these youngsters some time.
If we can improve on the mistakes we made today and get a nice mix of youth and experience come the Summer we wil be working in the right direction surely.

1.No kick out strategy 2.Inability of our backs to tackle 3.No structure or shape to our backline 4.Inability to win enough possession at midfield because of No.1 5.Absence of a game plan
These problems are apparent for last 3 years
Regardless of personel there's no reason why you can't be organised.. ALL these must be sorted or else were also rans.

The positives. Clifford Burns Shane Murphy.
We played well in the first half and we played quick ball we had the beating of the Dublin backs.
The young lads know now where the bar is set.
For me the keeper situtation is sorted and Clifford is at home at this level.

Really struggled on our own kickouts once Dublin applied the pressure after 20 minutes. 2 kickouts over the sideline. As long as we have no kickout strategy it doesn't matter what goalkeeper we play.

I thought they said Barry John came on half time??? Did he even touch da ball? Some amount of players taking up too much space on the panel ... must b some kick in teeth for players busting their gut week in week out in training and then players coming from no where in da match day squad the last few weeks and centre stage today!!! While it did seems to be Dublin seniors against Kerry minors we just keep making the same mistakes over and over and

Shell shocked!! Didn't expect to win but second half was men against boys. The final scored probably flattered us as the Dubs hit the post n keeper made a couple of decent saves.. the second half was a humiliation.
It seems so long ago now but we started very well and could / should have scored two first half goals. Geaney's shot off the post n a bizarre 'rush of blood' when Sean O'Se went for power n sliced his kick after rounding Cluxton should have raised green flags. How we were to rue those.
Only positive was Clifford. Given the service, he caused consternation in Dubs defence. In second half, he just didn't receive any ball. Still created our best goal chance when he won the ball n put Mikey Geaney in - Kerry had an overlap and the right ball from Mikey would surely have led to a green flag - but alas, he lost control and ended up bundling it wide. It went rapidly downhill from there.
After this non-performance, it's going to be a difficult task to raise this team for next week's match v Kildare. This has become a must win if we are to avoid relegation.
Apologies for adding to the depression but it's been a long, disappointing day.

Not enought credit is being given to Dublin here. This team is outstanding and the new guys look the part too.
Kerry could and should have been six points up at one stage. But Dublin are capable of slipping into top gear very fast and they did that today. They ruthlessly targeted Paul Murphy and Sean o Se. I dont know why Shane Murphy is being critised.

Luck wasn't on our side and less than 24 hours earlier I witnessed 3 goals in Healy Park that virtually 'happened'. Still I don't think we will hold off this juggernaut for a while though Clux was on the boil from the off and he senses what is happening.
What is it that we are missing on the sideline all these years that has us make such calls and I'd be worried as we do close that gap. The pipeline is full-on and you'd be thinking that we will be the next team to beat the Dubs in Croker.
The full picture is that Dublin as a global city has resources that we can't ever hope to match and the enemy within is no help to us either. If Kerry can't do it then whom can? For the foreseeable future it looks like counties are competing to be beaten by the Dubs in the final.
And will ye stop blaming the goalie, or indeed any player - they did their level best to a man and they need our moral support and respect for what they give us, unless of course we want to be fairweathers, a very unKerry trait, hopefully!

Dublin were a class apart in the second half and went through Kerry like a dose of salts. Dublin run relentlessly at pace and at power and it is difficult in the extreme to stop it.
It was clear the way OSe and Geaney hobbled off at HT that they woyld not reappear. While neither excelled in the first half they both carried a threat. Geaney kicked poorly and also left his marker run the length of the field two or three times, all of which resulted in scores.
The problem I have with EF is his unwavering faith in players who have serially proven they are not good enough at the top level. We saw some start and finish today. Enough said. It is also absolutely apparent that Casey will not be getting the opportinity to demonstrate whether he is or is not good enough - EF would appear to have decided already and he is being thrown crumbs.

A first in Croke Park today.
I felt like a Louth (or any other Leinster county) fan in the first round of the Leinster Championship.
You know the type of game I'm talking about.
Louth v Dublin.
Louth get stuck in, build up a small lead (even manage to score a goal!)
But eventually, the blue machine clicks into gear and the boxes on the 'process' sheet start to be ticked one by one.
By the 50th minute, it's over for little Louth.
The sadistic side of the blue machine comes into view. Unfettered possession plays, 30 or 40 handpasses followed by a easy 'tap-over' for a point.
The machine 'knows' (AI is rapidly learning the game) that this crushes the spirit of the humans more so than the goal it could have easily manufactured 15 possession prior....
The humans never get near the ball for what seems like an eternity.
A goal is a sharp shock. You can recover quicker.
Death by a thousand paper cuts.
Yep, that's what today was like....

Whatever about the nonsense I just posted, as other people have said already, this Dublin team is on a different planet to all of the other teams in the country.
The problem (as I see it) is that that management doesn't seem to have done enough to fix the obvious issues that have dogged this panel for years now.
Nothing personal against against Fitz and co. but the gap is getting wider....

I went into this game thinking we probably would be beaten by a few points but I must say I has a sneaky suspicion that we might really put it up to them and maybe cause an upset. That said when act one closed today I was very frustrated by several missed opportunities in that half but I was happy with the endeavor of our play which resulted some great chances being created and our build up was fast and sharp with the Dubs on the back foot.
The loss of Sean O Sé and the replacement of Paul geaney (was he injured) for the second half seemed to have a very unsettling effect on our attacking shape and we looked disjointed and very disorganized thereafter. That entire unit needed a little leadership and despite some good early runs from our inside three the ball was not being used intelligently and the amount of foolish wides and poor passing was criminal. In the second half we never seemed to push with the intensity of the first, even late on when Clifford had a tap over free cluxtom just ran for his ball and tee and found a Dublin player in acheres of space. Surely this was one thing these young lads would have been told to do when we knew that their was a restart and it was on out terms for a change but we never pressed for some reason.
Overall I was very diddappointed with our second half but today there were green shoots nevertheless, these are just young lads and with a sprinkling of experienced players to lead and orchestrate in the summer months we will be a very different prospect in my opinion. Eamon Fitzmaurice needs to learn that light players are not an option in the back line when you meet a team like Dublin and when you are loosing your grip on a game you need to bring on a player with a bit of an edge in that back line. I was disappointed with some of his subs today, some fella needed to hop of a Dublin player and rise the blood in the Kerry players and this never looked like happening,
They will learn and it will be easy for EF to register with them the efforts that are required if you want to win when you roll into Croker, today they will have become a little wiser in relation to what works and what doesn’t against a tram like Dublin. Nothing like a sore pair of gonads to make a man change his fighting stance, I look forward to our next meeting

Honestly who thought we were going to beat Dublin today. I went in hoping that the young lads would get a run at Senior level in Croke Park and gain a bit of experience at the adult grade. The result was more of a rout than I'd hoped but the loss of Paul & Seanie at half time was a big mountain to climb. While I dont see us bringing Sam home this year, I'm not giving up on this bunch of players. I'd like to see more of Daithi Casey , I'm warming to Burns and there are green shoots if you care to look. Barry John was anonymous, I wondered at one point if the wrong name had been called as the sub, he's normally a good man to get in for a couple of points. David Clifford is a huge prospect for us but needs to be more conscious of shot selection. I believe this will come in time. My one big wish is that Liam Hassett would stay the hell off the field, he just seems to antagonise officials which is no good to anyone. Keep the faith, Ciarrai abu.

It is simply down to it now that you need absolutely everyone fit, get the matches 100% and you have a slim chance of catching them. Otherwise losing the likes of Geaney etc, not having Morley and a couple more, you pretty much have no chance.

But Dublin are capable of slipping into top gear very fast and they did that today. They ruthlessly targeted Paul Murphy and Sean o Se. I dont know why Shane Murphy is being critised. Totally agree with this. As Mickmack also mentioned earlier, Michael Darragh McAuley was outstanding. Really, did Dublin even get out of 2nd gear today? I thought Dublin were comfortably well within themselves and still blew us off the park, especially with an overpowering performance in that 1/3 quarter. They attacked our kickout and really did Shane have many options? Who was making themselves available? It looked to me like Dublin were closing down rapidly all avenues. The final scoreline in the end if anything, flattered Kerry and we should have lost by even more. We can count ourselves lucky Dublin weren't able to call on the services of James McCarthy, Kevin McManamon or Con O’Callaghan or a few more marquee players today. Kerry were humiliated in that second half and boys against men it certainly was. But it’s not just an age thing, the difference in size and physical power was stark. We simply had no defender there today to manage the physical power of Ciaran Kilkenny. I found my self wishing for the likes of Tadhy Morley to come in today, who did such a fine job on Kilkenny last year. Instead, I saw Fionn Fitzgerald coming on the pitch today, a nice tidy player but who physically still looks like his under 21 at this level. Fionn isn’t going frighten the likes of Paddy Andrews or Ciaran Killkeny and why would he? They’ve put him on his arse more than once before. I’m not blaming Fionn here but the point I’m making is, we simply didn’t have enough physical power or strength in our defence today and it wasn't simply a shape thing. Our best defender is Paul Murphy and he was well beaten and for me it was a size and power issue. You can’t match what you don’t have was the lesson thought today. Not just on today but looking at Dublin's resources the 4/5 in a row is certainly on for them and for how long in this century will Kerry stay as market leaders for All Ireland’s won? Give it 20 years at best. Today was just another reality check, we live in Dublin's world now.
