Ya i was half tempted to book in but then i saw the price and by the time your in and out from there on the sunday - its crazy price! Booked a place in the city cos want to be in around there on sat evening and early sunday but will be making my way to citywest win lose or draw....... In my search for accommodation for the wkend i have noticed that there are serious variations in prices of hotelsbmy different hotel search sites...came across this bargin for City West (have never used this site before but presume its ok) didnt book in the end as staying closer to the city centre (and im sure ill find a floor somewhere in city west if worst comes to worst!!!) www.roomex.com/citywest-hotel-dublin.48139.booknow.html?source=twopointfiveB&B for the 2 nites for 193 euro - now the difference will nearly pay for your 2 tickets for the match!!! You could also stay in the Maldron hotel (used to be comfort inn) they have one out in city west as well and there usually very reasonable.

Absolutely nothing to do with the game this but I thought I would share this wit ye anyway. During the Rose of Tralee one of the Roses mentioned that her escort had given her an unusual gift. It turns out that she had received a bottle of poitin and had told half the country that her escort was dealing illegal liquor. Anywho the escort has a famous brother, none other than Paul Galvins favourite (sparring partner) Noel O' Leary

D4 hotel? ? That place is a complete and utter kip these days!! It was baught by a property developer who intended to demolish the whole lot and build apartments etc. The planning fell through so now it's run as a bit of a flea-pit hotel with rooms at knock down prices. The wife and I stayed there after a party in Ballsbridge earlier in the year and thank God all we were doing was sleeping there for a few hours. The room stank! Terrible choice.

Just thinking today about the captaincy.
After Sunday's display I believe Tommy Walsh will start, probably at the expense of Donnacha. Then thoughts turn to Star. If he is fit, he may also start........probably at the expense of Darren. If this scenario plays out, what happens re the captaincy?......the last thing we need is internal politics the week before the AI. This will be a consideration when they sit down to pick the team, and from the management's perspective it is surely an unwelcome complication.
I'd be in favour of moving with the times and allowing management pick a captain and vice captain at the beginning of the year, which would hopefully allow them to pick the best fifteen, without having to consider how to accomodate a club or district appointed captain.

I dont think the captaincy will be an issue for the simple reason there's no way in the world he can start kieran in an all ireland final after playing only 40 mins of football since may. I think ultimatley Jack and co will base their selection on how things go in training over the next 3 weeks. Tommy for Donnacha but play him corner forward, and darren wing forward on miskella there's no way miskella will out run darren and he's physically strong as well. If things arent going well, Kieran can come in full forward with tommy and adopt the twin towers approach on Shields and co.

Derekcom, If it was anyone other than Star I would agree entirely, but he is a leader on and off the pitch.....and he scares Cork! Ultimately it will depend on training, but if he is deemed to be up to it, they may start him, although springing him from the bench is the more likely call.

Kieran is definitely the joker in our pack going into the final. How Jack et al use him clearly remains to be seen, how he moves in training will play a big role in determining that.

I agree but my fear would be if kieran did start and he wasnt going well or the injury was giving him grief, the cork crowd would go nuts to see him headed for the side line. The other scenario is 5 mins after half time - Kerry up by a point and the game in the melting pot - Jack signals for kieran - it would be soul destroying for cork, just when you though you had dealt with declan, darren, and gooch you get hit with kiearn. He'd be the first name on my team sheet if he was fully fit and had more games under he's belt.

I dont think kieran will start for the ai final, it would be lik paul galvin last year, coming into the final without match practice is not the ideal situation, unless god forbid we are struck down with injuries kiearn should be on the bench, and all going well he will make a huge impact, either in ff line or midfield battle if needed, what we need is all the our players match fit and firing on all cylinders, i think the only decision for joc and co is do he start tommy or leave him on the bench?

While I agree with a lot of what you say, I think Donaghy's presence alone makes the Cork guys nervous. They cannot handle him, he causes proper havoc every time he is in around their 14 yard line. I am convinced that the cracks that Donegal showed in the Cork full back line can be opened into roadways with the right kind of ball to the right man.Moving the ball quickly into the FF line wont give Cork the time to funnel players back. It is indeed a headache for Jack and co,but, if I was in his position and Star was fit he would be one of the first names on my team sheet. If he does start on the bench, I hope they don't delay too long if we are in trouble. It is important to have guys of his quality on the field.

If KD approaches even the level of fitness he had prior to the Longford game I would start him. I feel you should always start with your best available fifteen. Who should be sacrificed is a topic for later.
Cork do not have anybody to handle him.

So did his team mates and they just swerved out of the way of the train v kildare.
Kerry will have closed the door on Cork early in this game.

Game is going to be very hectic for first 20 mins. Will probably be slower as game goes on. If Kieran is anyway rusty at all it would be hard for him. Would be a huge boost for Cork if things not going his way. McGinley had a less serious injury and was not out for as long and he could not get to grips with the game at all.
