The comments on the ref by the likes of O Dywer and Morgan is seriously poor form and one I hope doesn't continue.

o'Dwyer and Morgan were wrong to say this as now the ref on sunday will be self-concious and will make decisions to suit the public and not the game. I hope he is strong enough to be his own man and make his own decisions. No ref is perfect in anyones eyes.

All-Ireland final day is an occasion for all Kerry people to join in a common cause no matter where they are on the globe. I am in France and the '87 jersey will be put on Sunday morning with utmost pride in my belonging to the Kingdom. My club has the Novice in the bag for the first time in 37 years and I fully expect the lads to make the winter very short indeed by prevailing on Sunday. For all of us outside the Kingdom this almost visceral connection to our roots is vital and must never be downplayed. We, those that have left, feel Kerry football as acutely as a werewolf feels the moon's phases. It is part of us and perhaps other counties cannot fathom this, in short it is almost genetic. They say that the All-Blacks determine the health of the New Zealand stock exchange, in Kerry football can make even the bleakest depression seem less severe and I know this because I lived through some rough times in the early '80s. I have belief, not in any one player, but in something that no poster has mentioned and that is the sheer bloody-mindedness of this Kerry team. I believe they will win because they are the better team and not because they are more athletic or taller or have won the u-21 more times; no they will win because of what they represent and stand for.
An Riocht go deo!!

Lads this is a great AI for pundits. I don't hear anyone saying out loud that either team will win comfortably.
Keep the faith.

I just read through the articles thread, Kerrygold, what a fantastic orator you are, that message for Tadgh brought tears to my eyes, heres hoping he does get his medal tomorrow. Im nervous now, but a confident nervous, just dying for it to be tomorrow and the ball thrown in, i can't wait. Unfortunatly i won't be at the match but heading to my local with their big screen and fantastic atmosphere, unfortunatly we have a Cork man joining us, he is here for the weekend, especially to watch the match with us, he has been giving us grief already, god help him at 5 o clock tomorrow evening, as we are not answering back or giving him handy bars to give him a stick to beat us with, we are just storing it all up for what he is going to get back when we WIN tomorrow. Good Luck to all the lads on the team, especially the O'Sé's An Gaeltacht Abú, Ciarraí Abú

I dont believe that there has been much negativity about.
There has been a lot of reality about.
After the roller coaster ride of highs and lows that is understandable.
In another thread, Seamus mentions that Seamus Scanlon is his favourite player now. And I can understand that perfetly.
Seamus Scanlon must have a massive game tomorrow. And that includes winning kickouts, covering back, linking play. He is now Kerrys most inportant player. Why does Seamus Scanlon always seem to be in the right place? Could it be perhaps that he is a marvellous reader of the play. It wasnt until he was out injured that his real value to this team became apparent to some.
Since the team was picked I am started to believe that Kerry can win it. Especially with TW at 14.
That and a vibrant half forward line. Darragh will deliver all he has for 50 minutes.
The entire Tyrone half forward line was replaced against Cork. Consider that for a minute!!
This match hinges on our half forward line getting on top of the Cork half back line.
I believe they will do that.
Kerry by 3

Who was on the Late Late last night ? Missed it. Does Ryan do GAA well , not his natural habitat.
I don't find it too difficult to follow the Irish in Seo Spoirt , except when the speaker is from Donegal. I enjoyed the Tommy Griffin interview, he seems like a fierce relaxed character altogether.
This strange summer has passed so quickly all the memories, Killarney, a vague , unsettling afternoon, Cork, despair, my 'mad' sister predicting we would be back in Croke Park with the Rebels come September. Longford, the game of 2 halves, the relentless rain, the long drive home and the unanswered questions. Tralee, strange place for the time of year, strange slide towards the exit door, stopped only by PG, Dec and Diarmuid. The long conspiracy week that followed until at last, somewhere in the fine stadium at Tullamore, there was a flicker. Bank Holiday Monday, surreal, sublime.... And Meath, another damp day , a blue Kerry team doing what they needed to do. And so we are back with the Rebels again.
Good luck to the team and management, thank you for bringing us this way again. Please God we will finish out the road successfully.
Safe Journey to all. Ciarrai Abu.

After a rather frenetic week of travel, I got back this morning. And only then, managed to see the Team Selection. Maybe everybody-else has gotten used to the selection - but I cannot credit that Donnacha has not made the cut. I really cannot credit it.
Here is a guy with a massive engine, an unreal work ethic, a Martin Peters gift of spiriting in to slot goals, whose performance in his last game had him heading for MOM - until he was taken off. Here is a guy who can actually play Gaelic Football - naturally.
I could say a lot more about how I feel the selection process has been tainted all year - nothing new about this. Happens in the corporate world all the time. This strikes me a perfect example of Group Think.
I think Donnacha is unfortunate in that the only thing he had going for him was his ability and performance on the field. There was no other factor intruding on the selection process, in his case. It made it an easier decision to drop him - because that is what has happened here.
Maybe a few hours sleep will remove my angst - because the Saturday before a Kerry All-Ireland is my favourite day of the year. It's like Christmas Eve when we all still believed in Santa.

Happy with the selection, the few doubts I have can be rectified by a combination of positional switches and from the bench. Darragh will need to give it all from the first minute and not pace himself in order to last longer. Wheather he gives us a good 25 minutes or 50 minutes we will be well on our way. At 34 when the tongue goes out it does not go back in again especially in the engine room.
Feel very good about tomorrow, expecting a great display full of togetherness and confidence unlike last year when we were all over the place. Best half forward line in the game and this time seemingly with a fully fit starting 15 and panel.
Can't ever recall Kerry being underdogs for a final and only losing one game all year at that. Shows how much Cork have improved but so have Kerry.
The Cork supporters are smug with confidence, so different to '07. They remind me of Mayo in '97.
Best of luck to the team and may the management make all the right decisions.

Best of luck to all the players and managemnt tomorrow. I'm heading up in the morning on the supporters bus. We have had many journeys to places we thought we would never see and play teams we thought we would never have to play. Hopefully we will have an extra person coming home to the kingdom on monday in the form of sam maguire!

Reading through all the papers today I'd estimate the majority of articles are tipping Kerry in a tight game. Its around the margin of two to one. So is it only the bookies that have kerry down as underdogs?
I think kerry will start with all low ball into the full forward line. If its not sticking after ten minutes maybe then try the high ball. I think kennelly will do more swapping in and out with darren as opposed to declan. If Canty is on Kennelly they will be looking to move him away from the half back line where he is so dominant.
If its Miskella on Kennelly they will move him in if cork go pure man for man. They could then exploit two big men in the full forward line without taking from the ball carrying or pace in the half forwards if darren is moved out there.
Will Tommy be moved out early on with declan going in in order to butress our midfield with all the big men. Then your looking at a half forward line of Kennelly, Walsh and Galvin, all capable of winning their own ball. You could then by pass kerrys midfield by moving the ball over them

Just settled into the usual hostelery in Dublin the night before the big game. Was A steady convoy of KY cars on the road as we meandered our way towards the capital constantly ajusdting the radio to get the last few strains of sports Saturday on Radio Kerry.
Stopped to collect a few of the papers that were sold out in the local shop in Toomevara. The shop was busy with green and gold clad customers.
Festooned in the hotel lobby the table in front of me cannot be seen for the differing sports sections that are scattered all over it. The laptop is whirring away as I await emails about tickets for friends. Still a constant stream of Kerry residents stream past. We exchange a few words but usually its just a quick nod or fleeting glance. Each one of them has that 'knowing look'.
The bars across the street are filling up and you can hear the constant high pitched tone of the lilting cork accent inter mingled with the soft Kerry brogue. Now that we're in Dublin the nerves have lessened a bit. The anticipation is almost over. The papers are giving mixed signals about who they think will win.
If kerry get a good start and keep the cork half backs under control we're on our way to victory. Kennelly in his first final could hold the key to success. If hes marked by Canty he'll have to negate him. If he's market by anyone else he'll have to make hay.
Kerry by 4-7 points. Tommy Walsh to set up more scores than ever and declan and gooch to top score for kerry
