Threw that game away, coughing up position to let Cork go level in 66min was ridiculous. Some of these lads need to seriously practice penos!!

Reminiscent of last July,
In control in the 2nd half and cough up a bad goal which Dylan Casey was caught out badly for.
Other self inflicted errors cost us in that 2nd half.
Overall I thought it was a good game given the conditions and better than 100 training sessions.
The ref was shocking too so much so Jack was booked.

Not too bothered about todays result. tough day for both teams with conditions. But my god where did the pull that ref out of today. This morning headlines were top referees failing the fitness test, well that fella certainly wouldn’t have got through hopefully we won’t cross paths again

A poor effort even though with more composure we could have held out at the end. I feel Cork deserved it over the full game. They were adventurous, we were tentative. I am not sure who was on Chris Og Jones for the goal but he was very poorly positioned
Our standard of penalty kicks was abysmal.
Not sure if we have learned much from the McGrath cup. It is fair to say that no fringe player has insisted on being included for the Derry game. Of course this chaos of introducing about twelve subs makes the whole exercise farcical .
The referee? The only consolation is that he does not look like a guy who would pass a fitness test. The hope then is that our paths will not cross again in 2024.

I wouldn’t be too worried about today’s result either, it was against a strong Cork 15 and we obviously weren’t taking it too serious making so many changes at half time. The positive is we emerge from the McGrath Cup with 3 quality new options in Joe O’Connor who I thought was our best player again today, Cillian Burke and Dylan Geaney. I expected O’Connor and Burke but Geaney has exceeded my expectations in the games he has played, obviously tougher tests await. Some players shortcomings were exposed today but it’s a good time for it to happen.

Disagree there, as per my post above I think Joe O’Connor, Cillian Burke and Dylan Geaney have all impressed and must start against Derry.

Jack will be delighted to get such a competitive game and be able to run the bench the way he did. While we had a slow start, I thought we edged it over the 70 minutes. Cork are clearly an improving team and will be striving for promotion but they still look a little short in some key positions to challenge at the business end of the championship.
Dylan Geaney really impressed me today in what were tough conditions. He deserves to see a lot of minutes in the league. Good also to see Killian show well, We know he can perform on the big day and just needs a bit more consistency. He was a miss in last years championship.
I expect a pretty strong team to be picked for next weekend. Jack will want a strong start at home and not be under pressure to have to win games later in the league.

Definitely an improving cork team , a great work out for both sides ahead of the national league. I think Dylan Geaney has been the positive from the McGrath cup, on the fringes awhile now, but stepped into the lime light at intercounty this month, young Burke still has a bit to go to impress me, the key word is young. I thought defensively as a unit today we were not at our best, especially in the middle third, overran quite often. I think for me Barry Dan has shown more as a commanding MF. Killian kicked well so hope his form continues. Looking forward to seeing what Derry has to offer ahead of next week against Donegal shortly.

Good test, Kerry will have learned a lot from that. Dylan Casey was lost in the 2nd half. The goal was criminal as much as our goal was from Corks point of view. I cant see Dylan Casey starting again after that. Joe O'Connor is almost guaranteed that starters shirt next week after the McGrath Cup he's had. Burke & Dylan Geaney should also be in contention, I also thoughy Michael Burns did inject a bit of pace when he came in to our attack, he didn't hold the ball long, caught the ball turned and kicked inside. Was evident our chief scorers weren't on the field today, we'll need 1 or 2 of them back next Saturday

I think Kerry will be happy enough with that. A good battle and plenty lads getting a good test. Joe o Connor did well on the ground but I would be a bit concerned about our ability to win kick outs when it is just pumped out. I thought Begley had a good game and the use of the high ball ended up with 3 points, so good variation there. Killian Spillane played well as did Dylan Geaney. Buckley mixed the good with the bad. I thought Moynihan and Casey were the biggest disappointments of the day. Moynihan doesn’t offer any scoring threat as seen by his missed mark downwind in the first half. I thought Conor Geaney and Roche did well when they came on. Evans looked a little green, running into tackles and losing the ball. A bit like Ruairi Murphy last year. He might need a year behind the scenes before he’s a factor

Really difficult conditions today where the young players bar Dylan Geaney really struggled dose of reality really before the national league commences which is what the management were looking for.The way young Evans was stripped of possession near the end in a turnover leading to a cork score highlights the above .Thought the stacks lads in defence really struggled and knowing my fellow south Kerry man jacks conservatism and cautiousness we prob won’t be seeing them again.this year.Overall a good workout Cillian Spillane and Burns when introduced impressive Joe O Connor solid in midfield and with the two Cliffords to be added to the attack I think we are in a much better place than last year heading into the national league

Kerry had the winning of this but didn't control the game from a winning position like last July. The more close finishes they are in the better but stating the obvious they need to get a lot better at closing out games. By the looks of things, Derry mean serious business and will be a big step up in opposition next week and those points will be hard won.

I agree with Kingdomson that Kerry had the winning of that game today.
Very often when there are several players on the field who have this one chance to impress, no proper pattern emerges, and with all the substitutions, sometimes when a player gets possession in the scoring zone late in the game he is as much at sea as he was in the first five minutes (that is if he was on in the first five minutes). All in all I would see today as a positive. A few players showed they are not ready for intercounty and a few played themselves onto the team for the Derry game.
For Kerry it is not about players it is about attitude and today that was positive.

Showed plenty bottle on a dirty day, We've seen this before though only to flop afterwards. I think they're different now though tactically, trying different kickouts etc. They've been a shambles in the last 10 years would be good to see them at the races again

Agree with a few posters think there's a lot of positives to take from yesterday and of course the few negatives. Great to see Killian showing very well yesterday and when on form proves he can be lethal from any angle and his point taking was very impressive particularly his point from the long ball in to the square which he fielded over friend and foe, decided not to take the mark instead swivelled and popped it over with his left. Dylan has definitely been the stand out of the newcomers and must definitely be in with a shout of starting next week. Cillian Burke thought worked hard and think it was his pressing of the keeper that resulted in an turnover and resulted point. Thought we struggled a lot around the middle yesterday granted conditions didn't help but think this is an area we have to improve especially around breaking ball. We looked vulnerable again when ran at especially when Cork moved the ball quickly whenever our attacks broke down but I'm sure these are things that can be improved on. Standard of refereeing yesterday left a lot to be desired, must see it back again but I thought from where I was sitting Joe O'Connor was clearly fouled didn't give a free Cork moved the ball quickly that resulted in the goal. He was very quick to penalise Conor Geaney and a couple more of the lads for overcarrying when they had barely taken 3 steps after turning their marker and to cap it all he penalised Barry Dan for overcarrying after he had cleanly caught a mark in the middle which if my hearing is up to scratch I thought he had whistled for and after been surrounded by numerous Cork players he gave a free the other way, which I'm assuming is the reason Jack got the yellow for because he wasnt the only one who was baffled by that call. All in all its been a positive 3 games, got to look at a lot of the younger lads to see what they can offer, got a lot of minutes into the established players and apart from injuries to Mike Breen and Shane Murphy seem to come away with a clean bill of health. We've been thriving competitive football since last July so roll on next Saturday at 5.30!

Regardless of the twists and turns of outrageous fortune which both counties may go through, I'll always subscribe that that ancient Kerry adage - any day you beat Cork is a good day.
Alas yesterday was not a good day and the soaking I got in Thomond Park as Munster contrived to do the unthinkable and loss at home in Europe did nothing to improve matters.
My clothes are still soaking as I sit on the train and look forward to having to endure another monsoon once I get to Heuston!
Thoughts with the players and supporters enduring the elements in Croker as we speak 🥶

Just a final note. Most people on this forum agree that TG4 give us a great service overall and I agree fully with that. However, with so many new players on the pitch that the viewers would not readily recognise the commentary was not great. Repeatedly we heard, when a Kerry player got possession "Fear Ciarrai" or for a block down "Lamh Ciarrai". Sometimes he admitted that he didn't know the player, "n'fheadar ata ann". Maybe I'm being a bit unfair but I don't get to see many club games so I don't know all the new players.

There is no comparision. Brian Tyers on TG 4 is superb , the best in English or Irish in my view. I agree the guy on the streamed service yesterday was very poor. He seemed to be very familiar with the Cork players and is , as far as I know , O’Ceallaigh from Cork. So his happiness knew no bounds . Still, I suppose one should be happy that we got any service at all yesterday, difficult as it was to identify certain players.

I watched the match on my television. Was it my connection or did anyone else think the quality of the picture was poor. A bit grainey

You are right Veteran. Yesterdays coverage was streamed and I agree the live productions are excellent. I was glad to be able to watch the game and see the action. I didn't need commentary to appreciate Dylan's goal. The commentary was good for the most part. This is not a criticism, more banter than anything else, but it was very clear where he was from when a penalty was scored or missed. There is a long spring and summer to go yet.
