Liam Kearney stand out player for New York today in his first appearance for them. Surely he would have to be looked at for Kerry if he was around this season. I see he was listed at centre forward but did nt hear how he played. I see Gavin Ó Brien scored 2 points from midfield. Liam Kearney was a guy I had great hope for for Kerry at midfield. He came on as a sub v Dublin in croke park league game in 2020 and I was impressed with him. It's midfield we need strengthening in. Kearney would be a huge asset. Kearney was more in the middle and Gavin was in a more traditional full forward role occasionally coming out. In a poor 2nd half from New York I still thought Liam was one of the few looking to drive them on and was showing fierce leadership which was more impressive considering it was his debut. If I was Jack (assuming Jack is still in charge next season), I would be looking to bring in Liam for next years league. He is the kind of midfielder Kerry lack but that being said it's probably easier to look impressive in the Tailteann Cup but at the same time he's worth experimenting with because we are badly in need of strengthening our Midfield.

I have been having a think of what’s ahead of us this weekend, MH knows Kerry, he knows how to rattle us, know doubt about it, we have some vulnerabilities at the moment, be it fitness, confidence or what ever, but Mickey will look to take these vulnerabilities head on.
I expect a high octane game from Louth for 70 minutes, they will run and run and run some more, defending and attacking in equal amounts, it will require patience from us, it will require us to maximise our bench, we will need it, we will be tested.
I expect more or less the same team, I expect to win, hope the 2 week break has got renewed energy into the team.

I find it hard to see all 4 Football PQFs on the same day as 2 Hurling QFs. I would expect 2 PQFS probably to be moved to the Sunday. 8 big games on one weekend (Hurling & Football), means there will almost definitely be some television casualties in regards live games on tv/gaago. One of the downsides of the split season.

Doubt the fixtures people will give any thought to minors when deciding the senior fixtures - and this is not something new. Can remember going to a minor QF in Newbridge (against Offaly I think) one year and haring it up the road to Croker for a Kerry senior game later the same day.

The GAA website is saying Saturday June 24. I read somewhere that the 2 Tailteann Cup Semi Finals are locked in for Croke Park on the Sunday and will be on RTE. That probably means that preliminary Quarter Finals will not be on RTE as I'm assuming the Hurling Quarter Finals would take precedence on the Saturday

No doubt Louth will be well informed and prepped by Harte - if that includes trying to get under Kerry's skin then so be it. They won't be the first or last in that respect. If Kerry can't beat Louth and finish in the top 3 if this group, well they are truly better off out of it.
Its sh1t or get off the pot now for Kerry. If the players don't deliver, it means their hunger was sated by last years win and they dropped to a level where they became as ordinary as the chasing pack. It will also mean the management failed in both the psychological preparation where motivation and hunger is concerned and in tactical innovation where player selection and formation is concerned, standing still in the process.
Time will tell....

Does anyone know what panel players were allowed tog with their clubs at the weekend? Greg Horan played for Stacks. Not sure if he's still in the whatsapp group but Darragh Roche kicked a nice few points for Glenflesk against the Marys.

Greg Horan and Darragh Roche not on the panel anymore. We have to remember Paddy Tally knows a lot about Mickey Harte so that should stand to us.

I agree 100%.Darragh Roche was very effective during the league and would be a great asset on the panel. He is an excellent ball winner and good scorer. Also very hard to knock off the ball. For me he deserves to be on the Kerry panel. Not disagreeing but at whose expense should he be included?

My team for Sunday, assuming all available, no imagination involved, as always Jack don’t change too much, the key for me is early intervention of the bench, this game will be full on.
1) Shane Ryan 2) Graham O Sullivan 3) Jason Foley 4) Tom O'Sullivan 5) Paul Murphy 6) Tadgh Morley 7) Gavin White 8) Diarmuid O'Connor 9) Jack Barry 10) Dara Moyhnian 11) Paudie Clifford 12) Adrian Spillane 13) David Clifford 14) Seán O'Shea 15) Paul Geaney

I think Graham and Moynihan have to come under pressure for their starting positions. Beaglaoich if fit and Stephen O’Brien to come in.

I don't understand that at all. At the minute with Spillane injured surely he'd be in there replacing him. It's just very peculiar to have a lad who was clearly in the plans now not involved at all.

Darragh, as far as I know, received a hand injury which effectively ended his inter county preparation - probably only working his way back to fitness now.

Ya, Mike70, by in large the majority will pick 13 of that starting, agree too with edgeofthesquare, a fit Brión O’Beagleoich will start, the question is whether it is Graham or Murphy that would make way. I think Mike Breen must be pushing as well, from a physicality point of view. I think Murphy would serve us better on the final push in the last quarter. Moynihan and O’Brien for me are neck and neck, the key is just to figure out which one serve us better as a starter and which one is better utilised off the bench.
A fit Adrain has to start, there was a significant and very obvious decrease in our half forward line last day out when he failed to resume after the break.
Being honest, I know and have seen very little of Louth, the Mickey factor cannot go unnoticed, where are they likely to target or hurt us?

Louth are fit, well organised and very defensive. The only time the let themselves open was unbelievably against Dublin. They have some good players notably Sam Mulroy is their key man and will take marking. I'd expect Jason Foley to pick him up. Bottom line lads if we don't beat a team 2 divisions below us and beat them convincingly I think you'd have to question our participation in the championship!
