Whatever else, give yourselves plenty of time to get to Killarney on Sat. Traffic in and around Killarney is worse now than it was in 2019. There are long term road closures and diversions in Kilcummin and Muckross areas (due to works by Irish Water) so some shortcuts previously available may not be there on this occasion.

Plenty of greyhounds on the Kerry team too. But we need a good test to see where we are.
Dublin won't get one till the Q-final at least.

Same 15,
Delighted for Casey as I think he is a tough back in the mould of Aidan O Mahony and will do a job on OShea.
Very strong bench delighted to see 3 midfield options their and Donal Dan back too.
Hope it stays dry.

Personally I think our half forward line is not suitable against a team like Mayo. We need Adrian Spillane or his ilk in there. Ronan Buckley is selected ahead of Dylan Geaney on the bench. I wonder is it reading too much into it to say that might suggest Adrian starts in place of maybe Paul Geaney.

Mayo team to play Kerry (All-Ireland SFC Group Stage Round 1 v Kerry, 20/5/2023):
1) Colm Reape (Knockmore) 2) Jack Coyne (Ballyhaunis) 3) David McBrien (Ballaghaderreen) 4) Sam Callinan (Ballina Stpehenites) 5) Stephen Coen (Hollymount/Carramore) 6) Conor Loftus (Crossmolina Deel Rovers) 7) Paddy Durcan (Castlebar Mitchels captain) 8) Matthew Ruane (Breaffy) 9) Diarmuid O’Connor (Ballintubber) 10) Fionn McDonagh (Westport) 11) Jack Carney (Kilmeena) 12) Jordan Flynn (Crossmolina Deel Rovers) 13) Aidan O’Shea (Breaffy) 14) James Carr (Ardagh) 15) Ryan O’Donoghue (Belmullet)
Substitutes: 16) Rory Byrne (Castlebar Mitchels) 17) Tommy Conroy (The Neale) 18) Jason Doherty (Burrishoole) 19) Enda Hession (Garrymore) 20) Darren McHale (Knockmore) 21) Donnacha McHugh (Castlebar Mitchels) 22) Eoghan McLaughlin (Westport) 23) Kevin McLoughlin (Knockmore) 24) Padraig O’Hora (Ballina Stephenites) 25) Paul Towey (Charlestown Sarsfields) 26) Bob Tuohy (Castlebar Mitchels)
Not a whole pile of surprises there in my opinion. Very similar team to what played throughout the whole league. Goes to show how serious Mayo took the league. What I'd be saying is given how similar Mayos team is to that night in Castlebar compared to Kerrys, Kerry will be alot more improved from that night than Mayo I'd nearly guarantee. Kerry will be alot more changed from that night (6 changes by my calculations). Mayo have 1 or 2 more options on the bench but that applies to Kerry also.

That thought has crossed my mind and I am a huge fan of the work-rate of the Templenoe man, put it this way, the matches in the league we won he was wing forward, he was missing of the games we lost. However, I saw a different dynamic in Limerick, the formation and play was contusive to fast movement, where the ball was transferred prior to going into the tackle, this prevents the turnover and keeps defenses on the back foot. Jack isn't a dummy team man either. Spillane may start and would add much needed physicality but still I feel the side selected will take the field.

Mayo are a different animal to clare in fairness we were always going to be on front foot there. Other than geaney it would be hard to drop anyone else. I think the team picked is good enough to win safe travels to all !

Anyone else worried about the mayo pace. I'd reverse that question - are Mayo worried? They should be because Kerry will be a different animal to the team beaten up in Castlebar during the league. There's massive pace in this Kerry team, especially in our defence. There's hardly a footballer in Ireland that will beat Jason Foley over a 100m flat race and Tom Sullivan ain't no slow coach either and there's plenty of pace up through the lines. This Kerry team are still relatively young, and only beginning to come into the start of their athletic prime and one thing they won't be caught for this year is pace. Psychologically it's interesting, as this is a free shot for Mayo with a huge safety net. They can bring the crazy, have a cut and just express themselves without fear of the result. We're a proud county in Kerry, we won't want to lose for the first time on home soil in more than generation. Kerry would also no more than Mayo like to win group and stay on the straight road. No Mayo pundit is on the airwaves 'old media and new' more than 2 minutes without reminding you they are the national league champions of Ireland, and god knows if they beat Kerry in Killarney a Hollywood movie won't be far behind with the way they like to boast. You'd think they'd be humility after being put on the backsides by Roscommon but nah Mayo are 'chomping at the bit' apparently and don't forget 'they are national league champions of Ireland'. I sincerely hope we tar Mayo and I think we will.

Heading home unfortunately after. OK then I'd park on main road as you are coming into Killarney and turn the car so you can head straight home. Don't park in the town as traffic is bad on match days.

Mayo ff line are tearing us to shreds. Mayo are destroying us. Only for Shane Ryan Mayo would be home and hosed. Jack and selectors outfoxed big time. The players have a small part to play as well.

I got slapped down after clare game for saying our midfield was poor. We have one consistent hider. Full back line nearly as bad.

Midfield again not commanding again and putting serious pressure on our backs.Bringing on Paul Murphy shows the lack of depth in our squad.
