They might have a ready made replacement for Barry Dan back from Oz. he doesnt fill Barry Dan's shoes at this stage though in the circumstances it would be good to have him of course True enough.

Fair play to Dingle, long wait for county silverware. Sounded like a great game on RK, commiserations Kenmare.
How many clubs have done club/county championship double? Obviously EK probably hot favourites but could Dingle have a chance? Been knocking around the door now for a few years.

Hopefully Dylan Geaney gets the same look in for next years league that Donal Down & Dara Roche got this year. I think he has the potential to be better than the previously mentioned names and could compete for a regular substitute appearance come Championship. Paul Geaney still has a bit left in the tank I reckon, no way can I see him retiring.

Kenmare went agonisingly close to upsetting the odds but in the end it was Dingle who dug out the win when scoring the final 3 points, at a time when they were down to 14 men.
Dingle started the brightest and 3 Paul Geaney frees had them on the front foot - it was close to the end of the first quarter before Kenmare scored, a Sean O'Shea free.
Dingle began with Mark O'Connor at midfield but he played a deep role in an effort to cut off the supply to Sean O'Shea.
After Dylan Geaney found the net in a defence splitting moment, Dingle led by 1-04 to 0-02 but from here on it was all Kenmare with Hallissey and James McCarthy to the fore at midfield, Seanie on top at 11 and Stephen O'Brien booting two over from distance; Kenmare were unlucky to not have at least one goal in this period when first a David Ciuciu effort had Gavin Curran scrambling to keep a speculative ball out and then with Curran making a hash of a kick out which saw Seanie drive the ball over his head goalwards only for the ball to hit the underside of the crossbar and stay out; 1-04 to 0-06 at half time and it was anybody's game.
Kenmare began the 2nd half in dominant mood and with some terrific defence particularly from No 6 Tommy Cronin they kept Dingle at bay whilst Seanie kept the scoreboard ticking over - they led by 2, 0-11 to 1-06 on 50 mins when Dingle midfielder Billy O'Connor saw red for a foolish dig off the ball and now it was all to play for - a man and a point down it was Kenmare's to lose - that they did was down to partly to they retreating and trying to see the game out and also to Dingle's never say die spirit as they fought valiantly for every ball. Kevin O'Sullivan, outstanding all night, was black carded and from the free Conor Geaney struck the equaliser - a few minutes later they were in front when Paul Geaney placed Dylan for a mark and he duly obliged. There was still time for a last Kenmare attack but the final shot was tame and wide.
There were some contentious moments throughout, not least in the second half when the ref blew for a free and signalled in Dingle's favour only to rescind his decision and award and point the other way - this resulted in a Kenmare tap over. At the end, Mikey Geaney was hit side on by Sean O'Shea in what looked like a fair shoulder only for the ref to award a free to Dingle - he took out his notebook and quickly put it back in his pocket, probably realising he had already booked Seanie for an offence in the first half! This was a crucial call, as it came late in the game at the terrace side and would have given Kenmare possession at a vital part of the game.
Overall, Dingle just about deserved their win but it easily could have gone the way of Kenmare.

Watched the game on clubber, great game to be fair, I think Kenmare started too cagey and allowed Dingle dictate the early pace. GreenGold35 summed up the game perfectly. Few things stood out for me, Paul Geaney still has a lot tp offer, Dylan Geaney is worth a look ion the league as is James McCarthy from Kenmare,
Dingle were just about worthy winners, just about, good game but spoiled by some baffling and inconsistent decisions.
This competition has now become the focal point for the senior clubs as they rightly hedge their bets on a divisional win at county championship level.
Crokes, Dingle, Kenmare and Rathmore would be the strongest club sides to challenge the divisional sides.
Thing is, if Dingle do progress to the Club champion ship, it may minder the first team availability to Jack O'Connor for the likes of Tom Sullivan, both Geaneys and Barry Dan.
You wouldn't pick out Mark O'Conner yesterday, but to expect to just slot back in to the round ball is grossly unfair, more worringly, Tom O'Sullivan looked tired.... an extended club run could be detrimental in this regard...

What's grossly unfair for me is some lad who's training and playing all year not getting a jersey to accomodate a fella who doesn't even play the game. Is someone going to miss out on a medal too?

Mark O’Connor is very popular with his Dingle teammates. He would’ve played with them all the way up until he went to Australia so there would be no issue with him coming into the team. As it turned out he replaced Barry Dan who was injured.

Kerins O'Rahillys relegated, just beaten by Na Gaeil in an entertaining enough game.
Senior 2024 looks like this
Dr.Crokes Dingle Kenmare Spa Templenoe Na Gaeil Rathmore Fossa or Miltown/Castlemaine.
Some big teams now in intermediate next year with Stacks, Rahillys and Legion now after being relegated. Hopefully Fossa make the jump to senior as it might be the only way to stop the Districts at this stage.

I dreamed a dream in times gone by..😥 Jez, when I lived in Tralee, Mitchels, the Rock and the Narries were all semior clubs partaking in the county championship and holding their own. Now Na Gaeil are the solitary Tralee senior club... how times have changed. Don't want to throw in the boot, but Walsh, Moran and Barry John are in the twilight of their club career, I had confidence in the Rock, they have a good underage structure, numbers and talent coming through, Strand Road don't in my eyes... they could be there for a while

Agreed. To be honest going junior is not out of the question especially if Jack savage, Gavin o Brien and Cormac Coffey stay abroad long term Imo I don't think it's as big a surprise as people think Strand Road going down. They're really struggling with players underage and are very dependent on Moran etc

Some spin in twelve months. It’s more a symptom of our championship format, when you have teams like west kerry or Shannon rangers who rarely win a championship game or don’t even fullfill a fixture, then you have competitive teams like legion, stacks and kor getting ruled out, there is something wrong. It will be a poorer championship if we still have a county championship without these teams.

Legion have won the county championship once in the 40s and been in the final once since. Strand Road have won one title since the 50s and thst was over 20 years ago. Every club will have some argument as to why they shouldn't be relegated. As I've said before if teams don't get relegated we'll end up with another joke like when Mitchels refused to be relegated.

But I can’t help wondering, sitting here in my arm chair looking at the crowd in stacks park for ballymac v listowel, st Kieran’s v Feale rangers wound not bring the crowd. Looking forward to another great club final, signing off here, as the spuds are being served before throw in.

Unlike seemingly most people I think 8 Senior clubs is fine. When you look at the 4 clubs involved in the promotion and relegation finals to and from Senior; Fossa, Milltown Castlemaine, Na Gaeil and Rahillys, none are at a standard where I’d say they have to be a Senior club championship team. Top of Intermediate and bottom of Senior is the right marker for these quality teams. Yesterday there was 2 very average sides on view. I think the way it is now is perfect, it should be an achievement to reach and stay at Senior.
I do agree with the suggestion of the divisional sides playing against each other while using the club championship as the qualifier for clubs for the county championship semi finals as tiredness was clearly a factor for Dingle against Mid Kerry.

Moran was still with Kerry which meant his fitness levels were high. Combine those factors with Shane Brosnan, Ross O’Callaghan, Con Barrett and Tommy Walsh now approaching the end of their careers and it’s a completely different side. Rahillys have dropped off significantly in the space of a year, they currently aren’t at the standard of a Senior club. Unfortunately with the state of their underage and the age profile of the team it was only a matter of time before they were relegated and I don’t see them getting back.

Bless you, you don’t get it do you, we are not talking about winners we are talking about a competitive championship, the 3 clubs I mentioned have been in the qtr finals even semi finals more than most division sides, it’s time to end this divisional rubbish, no rhyme nor reason to it, unless you have some magical reason why we should continue to run 2 championships, burning out our best and facilitating ineptness at the other end. Just take a look at the game in stacks park today, club is where it’s at I am afraid.
