Apparently David will be in the squad named tonight and Seanie may well be starting. Looking forward to seeing the teamsheet and safe travels to all heading for Castlebar for the weekend. After my last visit there in Feb 2020 I've decided the pub and a big screen would be a more pleasant experience than freezing my ar$e off while sitting next a middle aged couple hurling abuse all game at a 21 year old David Clifford. Hope that particular husband and wife are there tomorrow for another David masterclass Which country might that couple be from?

Subs 16)S.Ryan 17)K.Spillane 18)D.Casey 19) J.O'Shea 20) G.Horan 21) S.Okunbor 22) S.O'Shea 23) D.Clifford 24) G.Crowley 25) B.Friel 26) M.Ryan 27) R.Buckley
Good team and bench. A lot of players from our potential Championship team in this squad. Good to see SOS & DC available also. Interesting to see Brian Friel in the squad also. He deserves a look after some impressive showings for Rathmore the year gone.

I wonder where Adrain Spillane is ? He has been excellent.

Our half back line and half forward line are quite small so we could have issues midfield. Will need the bench if we are going to win this.

Good to see Pa Warren given another chance. I thought he did well against Monaghan and had a couple of good turnovers. We have serious options in the half back line.

I was not far off in my selection, Adrian must be injured not on the subs either.
It’s going to be a tough opening half for that starting 15, but let’s see how they perform.
Mayo won’t be shooting the lights out, so the heavy artillery coming on at ht will be fine, me thinks.

Very strong bench, the additions of Seanie and DC is telling, what I’m most pleased with this the inclusion of Buckley and Mark Ryan from Rathmore on the bench, I hope he gets some game time,. Some of the starting XV I’d personally change, I take it the absence of Breen and Adrain must be injury related,
What is most pleasing is the firepower is gradually returning, PC came on last week, starts tomorrow, Seanie and DC this week. The pressure is really on the starting front six, with players of that caliber coming to come in, the changes to impress will be less and less from her on in.
Pressure is on the middle crew to hold their own, otherwise Buckley or Ryan may be in quicker than we expect.

Could be very tough on Murphy in goals. Mayo have Buckleys fingerprints on them already. They are pushing up on kickouts and making teams go long. Raferty had big issues getting his kickouts away in the last round.

Could be very tough on Murphy in goals. Agree, this could be a serious acid test for the Crokes lad. Question for ye, although McStay has alluded to his preference to Aidan O’Shea close to goals, that fact that Diarmuid O’Conner is selected in midfield beside Matthew Ruane, is it fair to expect a direct swop here from the off. If Aidan Shea is close to goals and in the corner as selected, does Jason go to the corner and Graham to full back. This will for me turn out to be a very interesting game, and one we will learn a hell of a lot from - could be very worthwhile in the long run.

We could get murdered on kick outs Yes I would be very worried about the kickouts. Kerry s half forward line is small as is our half vack line Morley aside. Tbh i don't think you can play Moynihan Paudie and Burns on the same half forward line especially against a team like Mayo. I feel the selectors got this one wrong. I agree but atleast we have the options on the line to change it up if needs be.

Certain journalist name checked kerry players at the kerryfc game tonight.
Unless there's been a change in travel arrangements, shouldn't those players be in mayo tonight?
From what I recall, kerry stayed in mayo the night before the last game.
So either these players travelling tomorrow or won't be involved.

I don’t think they travel the night before for a Saturday night league game. Its around a 3.5 hour trip so they could leave at 10 in the morning and get to Mayo early afternoon. Arrangements would be different of course for an afternoon start.

Looks like we have transformed in terms of the core base of artillery and such step-up is necessary if we are to have a chance of retraining the auld cannister.
Is it that the shorted season is accelerating selection of the Championship 15?
I wonder if Jarlath will be reverting to a shortened winter - what kind of a client is he, not many shrinking violets up that neck of the woods?

Which country might that couple be from? Mayo ain't no country Bally, it's supporters are an interesting species though 🤣 I thought O'Houra put that one to bed? As for Mayo supporters I never found 'em untoward, well apart from in the moment and when we can all let off. I generally find 'em good crack, noble culchies like ourselves taking it serious but not too far, king bucks of self-depreciating yarn, etc. And one thing for sure - you will always get a game of pure football from them, the most entertaining next to ourselves.

Would anyone have updates on the lads still not back like Brian O’B, White, O’Connor, Geaney, O’Brien? All injured or some taking an extended break?

Should see action before end of league Gavin White - Recovering from surgery but should be quiet close to a return and should play some part in the league. Diarmuid - Ankle Ligaments, out for another 3/4 weeks I'd imagine. Geaney - Recovering from a surgery on his ankle. Not sure about his timeline. SOB - Very little update on him, told he has an injury but not sure what or how long until he returns.

Well... no one said our All Ireland defence was going to be easy, but our pre-season title defence has failed, and based on this first half our league title defence is going going to fall the same fate
Jack's going to have some strong words in that dressing room.
Our defence is taking a roasting out there, no one is working for eachother just like the old days. The awful passing is not helping either in this regard. I've seen some lateral passing there as well which is certainly not Kerry football.
There's no real substance in our attack either, albeit against a blanket defence structure. we're not dynamic enough, no one really showing for the ball, waiting for the ball to fall into their hands, taking the ball into the tackle etc.
I think overall, we've just been bullied out there. I can imagine SOS and DC will have to come on soon if we're going to try salvage something, as improbable as it seems right now.

1st goal was a free out for over carrying. 2nd goal was very soft. Some very poor shooting and at least 3 or 4 balls played in to forwards 10 feet high giving the Mayo backs an open invitation to take ball and man. Midfield looks very immobile.
