Who owns Hawk Eye. I'm not a believer in conspiracy theories but after a few pints watching this game I'm becoming one. Also I thought Kelly from the mark was point. A quick Google says Sony (since 2010), having been developed by a Siemens subsidiary in the UK in 2001. So Japan owns it.

I'd prefer to see Kerry play Galway than Derry in a final if we are to win tomorrow. Galway aren't as defence orientated as Derry are so it would certainly suit Kerry better. I can't see Galway troubling Kerrys defence to much if we were to play them in a final but that's hopefully a discussion for another day.

Only a fool with little knowledge and no history of our game would discount a Galway football team in an All Ireland final at any level. This Galway side are serious opposition to whichever opponent they meet.

I was impressed early in the Armagh game when Galway purposely didn't bring the ball into contact.
Something Kerry did vs Tyrone to ill effect last year.
You wanna see the ball moving. In general carrying is not the way to go.

To be fair to RTE today, they used the long wide screen view a lot and it was possible to see how each side were building and defending. I though Derrys tactic of keeping 3 forwards inside the 14 yard line was very clever at the start of the match. It meant space between the 14 and the 45 yard line for the midfield and half backs exploit.
Galway ground it out though in that first half and stayed in the game. Galway are expertly coached in not taking the ball into contact.

I was at the match today. A lot of posters seen to be blaming Derry for the poor quality of the game. For me both teams mirrored each other defensively in the first half. Both teams had 15 men defending inside their own 65. These defensive systems were not broken down because both teams were so slow in transitioning from defence to attack. It was only after Galway got 3 quick scorable frees early in the second half that the game opened up a bit. And a mean a bit as Galway still only scored 6 times in the second half despite Derry going man for man for the last 15 minutes. Dreadful stuff from both teams. Comer scored 2-2 from play. Outside of that Galway scored 2 points from play. I will be surprised if this Galway team troubles tomorrow's winner.

Delighted Galway won. They will be a real threat to tomorrows winners. At least the final will be a game of football now. If Derry won today, it would be a misery like the 2014 final.

Is it me or has hawk eye been dodgy all year, I feel like I've seen it malfunction a couple of times this year already. It must be starting to show it's age. I’m going to re-watch our match with Galway to see if we’ve been robbed of a point from Hawkeye somewhere. Our year might not be over yet!

The two worst semis in history were 92 Donegal and Mayo and 2011 Donegal and Dublin. All the so called experts gave the wi bees no hope in final. Donegal won in 92 and Dublin 11.Just a comnent You’re forgetting Tyrone Kerry 2003. It was brutal.

From what we saw yesterday derry were very lucky to have made it that far "tactical genius" or not. Ye must have a fair few regrets Ard Mhaca! By far the best ulster team from what we have seen post provincials and playing a nice brand as well hopefully ye get ulster won next year. The more footballing teams playing the better the competition will be. Thank god Derry are gone what they serve up is not football

Every match does take on a life of its own, and there was no guarantee we’d have beat Derry, but there definitely was an All Ireland final place there for the taking this year. I just hope this is the start of something for us though, and that we realise that we can compete at the business end of the championship. So hopefully we can build on this year.

I am surprised there is not much talk about the Hawk-Eye cock up on Saturday - the technical gaff is one thing but the fact that TV evidence was used in the course of a match to make a decision may have consequences. I fully understand that this resulted in the an error being rectified but the basic issue is a referee used technology to change what had happened during the game - will this be the beginning of the use of video for major games?

Would we want a VAR type thing in GAA. I dont think so. Although the rugby TMO seems to work well.

Mick - I am not advocating for VAR but simply pointing out the potential for "the law of unintended consequences"- by allowing TV cameras be used to change an on field decision in the course of a game has the landscape been changed?

I suppose technology (Hawkeye) was used to change an on-field decision in the first place (umpires gave the point initially) so the precedent is already there.

They were fortunate that Shane Walshs free came at the end of the first half.
The officials and ref could look at the tv and the ref has the power to call a score...even belatedly.
They clearly used tv evidence.
However...imagine if Sean oSheas free was flagged wide by Hawkeye and extratime was being awaited.... would the ref have decided that going by the tv...it was a point so..... forget extra time lads....I am giving Kerry an extra point.....so Kerry have won.

True. The hawkeye calls given at the Hill 16 end in recent games are all very suspect. The Galway hurlers in particular have good reason to feel aggrieved. What about Armagh v Galway...any strange calls in that game.

I can’t recall any Hawkeye moments, but you tend to miss a lot of stuff when you’re engrossed in a game. Things might be more obvious on second viewing.

If I’m remembering the right one, Conor Glass’s shot was over the height of the posts and the umpire called for Hawkeye so wasn’t clear by any means. Was that the one that Eamonn Fitzmaurice and Dara Maloney were discussing? The Hawkeye showed it going over the inside half of the post which is classified as a wide but the Derry crowd cheered before the Nil came up on screen as they thought it was going to be given as a point. Or am I getting mixed up?

Or am I getting mixed up? You see this quite a bit and I can't understand it. If a ball actually hits the inside of a post, it could, depending on the trajectory, come back into play but it's more than likely going to go over. It definitely can't go wide. So why is it always given as a miss?
