On a side note this friday night at 6:30 Stacks play Crokes in the Minor Co.League Division 1 in Connolly Park. Crokes are unbeaten and top of the table and Stacks only lost one game and are second. Some good players from both sides to look at. Stacks have Robbie Murphy good Keeper. Backs Dylan Casey Pádraig Looney Ciarán O’Reilly. Midfield Philip Quilter and David Fitzmaurice Forwards Gearóid Fitzgerald Ferdia O’Brien Fergal Ryan Cian Liston.
Crokes with Neil Doherty in Goals. Backs Mark Fitzgerald David Naughton James McAuliffe Conor Harrington Séan O'Neill. Midfield Billy Courtney and Michael Potts. Forwards Jack Griffin David Shaw Mark O'Shea Mark Hartnett Brendan Coppinger. Should be a good game if anyone wants to go.

Looks like Crokes will be very strong in this year's minor Champ.. Have a fair beating to Firies in last game.

I agree with that that would be my 4 too. East Kerry probably slight favorites. Good forwards.

Dingle might not be as strong as they were the last 2 years but I wouldn't write them off. West Kerry should not be bad either. However , this is for another thread ha ha.

You can never right off dingle,so true. Will be a great championship so will have to wait until thats announced.Really looking forward to it this year. Some good football to be played and a lot of great tussles.I thought last years was poor enough but this year will be exciting. By the way, when does it get underway ?

Last year's championship was nothing short of exciting. Nobody would have predicted those 2 teams to be in the final. Final was not the best of games but the games before if were fantastic. Dingle VS East Kerry stood out for me. Little disappointing seeing West Kerry not able to field a team in their 2 games, they can surely pull 15 fellas together from 4 clubs ?

Limerick beat Tipp 3-8 to 0-11 tonight. So what does that tell us then?
Clare have already beaten Limerick. Let's be careful out there.

By all accounts the Clare v Limerick game was a very poor affair - I think last night was a case of Limerick getting off to a flyer (they were 1-4 to no score up after 10 minutes), and turning in a far better performance than they did in the Clare game while Tipperary had a very poor performance - Tipp kicked 12 wides and only got 2 points from play. I don't think it tells us a whole deal apart from the fact that young lads can be a bit inconsistent. I do think overall it makes it that little bit more likely Cork will be in the final from that side of the draw.

From all accounts of the Clare-Limerick game, it is obvious that Limerick kicked that game away and playing up in Miltown on the Atlantic coast is definitely worth a few points to Clare. Are our lads away to Clare in the semi final?? Also, Tipp had no dual players this year which definitely weakened them significantly as a few lads that played last year in the All Ireland football final chose hurling over the football this year. I hear Limerick were much too strong last night, be interesting to see if they give Cork a good rattle seen as Tipp really put it up to Cork but with minors, everyday is different!

If they don't win it this year they will never win it I think crokes won't be far away either very strong all over solid team ,, east Kerry won u16 2/3 years in row but had crokes , legion , firies, so they won't be as good now I think st Kireans won't be far away all there minor teams seen to b going well they won't b far away

Final stages of the Minors leagues taking place tonight with some interesting fixtures. Division 1 sees Stacks home to Firies (Firies beat Stacks by 1 pt in F'fore in Round 1) and Crokes home to G'guilla. Expect Stacks and Crokes to make the final. Division 2 final sees Na Gael play Rathmore with Na Gael favourites. Big games in most other divisions also.
When will the Championship Draw be made?

Division 1 Minor League final fixed for Austin Stacks Park on Friday - Stacks take on Crokes at 6.45. The sides met in Connolly Park two weeks ago with Crokes winning by 7 points and anything other than a Crokes win would be a big surprise. Crokes have won all games by convincing margins this campaign and +51 (with a game conceded to them) compared to +24 for Stacks shows their strength. The seven point margin against Stacks was the tightest any team have run Crokes this year.

Crokes won as expected but what a performance from Stacks who pushed them all the way to extra time. Stacks were 9 points up at one stage in the second half before Crokes stormed back to go three clear. Stacks pulled them back and had the last chance of normal time to win it. Both teams were cramping up in extra time and Crokes won extra time 4-2 to take division 1 honours. Crokes have been strong since u12's with this team (but slipped up on a few occasions)- Stacks have come from the lower divisons with this group and deserve great credit and can be proud of their achievements.

Best of luck to the minors against Clare tomorrow night - a potential banana skin of a game in a difficult venue. Get over it and a QF guaranteed, lose and the year is over. Who is Captain - Mikey Boyle and Sean O Luing are not starting?

Kerry would want to be on high alert tonight. As always with this age group, performances can vary hugely from game to game. It's a long journey on what effectively is a school day so hopefully the lads will do themselves justice and get the win that will go along with that.

Well done to the minors on last night's win. Going for 4 in a row Munsters now, not achieved by Kerry since the 50s.
Other semi tonight between Cork and Limerick.

I went to the game. I though Kerry were poor. Sean O'Shea was their best player. Good prospect for sure. Daniel O'Brien was a loss. The forwards kicked some bad wides and some terrible passes. Didn't click as a unit. That was an average Clare side. Of the backs Mike Foley played well. The full back line was a little shaky. Probably will keep their places though. Billy Courtney kick outs were excellent. Mark Ryan and Mike Breen put in a tremendous amount of work in midfield. Worked very hard. I still think Mike Breen in the backs would make the backs stronger but they don't have a top midfielder to replace him there. David Shaw played well when he came on. Kicked two points. I would start him ahead of Diarmuid O'Connor. Brian Friel was good looked sharp. David Clifford took too much out of the ball. Kicked for scores when he had other players in better positions. I would make two changes for the final. Daniel O'Brien to start at no.6. David Shaw at no.12. Great to get a win but big improvement needed to beat Cork.

I listened to the RK version of the game and got the sense our backs were under a lot of pressure in the second half in particular. Where was this pressure coming from - our half forward line not doing enough or our mid-field not doing enough or indeed the half back line itself. Would agree Mike Breen at 6 would give a stronger half back line - but that increases the mid-field dilema. Is Sweeney getting back to fitness or do this years selectors genuinely believe he is not worth starting with? Can you see Cormac Lennane getting back for July?

Based on the form book (albeit minors), you would think Limerick are in with a real shout tonight.

Linnane would definitely start at no.14 i think. Clifford in the corner. You could also look at bringing Friel out to 12. The other corner would be between Shaw and Ferdia O'Brien. You could look at Sweeney with Ryan in midfield. Breen to 6 O'Brien on the wing. David Naughton could push Reidy for the no.4 spot also. They put themselves under pressure. Gave the Clare forwards a lot of room to look up or take them on. You can't do that at any level.
