The "in camera and only open to fully accredited members of the county board" meeting that was supposed to be on in Cork where the situation relating to the finances of Pairc Ui Chaoimh were going to be "discussed" was cancelled at the last minute.....Also been told that there's a lot of talk that the Cork county board draw is getting a very very poor response..... Just heard this finance meeting has been cancelled again....once again at fairly short notice..... Pouring their money into IABA for consultant services. The thinking being they can spend all the coin, make no disclosures, no press releases and 0 accountability. Visionary thinking

Meanwhile, Kerry GAA collected €300,000 from a dinner in London and are in silicon valley this week beating the bushes. The Co Board Chairman and the fundraising committee are doing a top class job of fundraising that is not getting the recognition it deserves.

Has any one come across Jim McGuinness's Magnum Opus, is it for sale yet? 2 page spread in the Times but I haven't had time to read it.

Methinks James is taking the Che Guevara comparisons a bit too seriously. At least it suggests he is over the Messiah complex!

No doubt all ye Kerrymen will be delighted to hear of Tomas adding a Cork County medal to his collection today. I'm sure it will take pride of place among all the others he has won I was at the game and he played well enough. He got a yellow for a "tactical foul" (he's never made one of them before ). He almost scored a point (it hit the outside of the post). At the final whistle instead of celebrating he sought out as many Castlehaven players as he could and shook their hand which was a nice gesture I thought. He didn't seem too bothered about winning; sure twas only a Cork county anyway (I'm only messing).

Was actually thinking about the fact that there must be a serious chunk of Kerry lads with Cork county championship medals, especially with the various UCC(K) teams.

Anyone following the game in Kerry will know that Cealtra, the Meehans & Co, beat An Gealtact, the OSes & Co, in the 2004 All-Ireland club final.

Any idea if we have players on the international rules panel?
Would assume Maher, Moran, Crowley would be ideal for this anyway,
About 15 of the senior panel have been involved in the county championship or club finals lately so I doubt many of them are involved.

Leesider, I;m sure Paul Galvin and Eamon Fitzzmaurice will be delighted to be considered so low profile!!! Yes but when Galvin and Fitzmaurice won it with UCC they weren't household names as they hadn't yet even played for Kerry seniors. In fact in Cork any UCC county final victory is not seen in the same light as when a club or divisional side wins it. Because they nearly always have a lot of players from outside the county. Maybe not fair but that's the way it is.

Would be pure daft by Moran to be involved given he's been injured recently. Less Kerry players involved the better.

On the topic of county finals and winning in more than one county - anybody know of other players winning county medas in multiple counties. I expect two is not that unusual with colleges....

It would take a fairly accomplished nomad to win three or more senior club championships in three or more different counties!

Well it's up to the players. Can't really see anyone holding a gun to theirs heads either way. I think the players embrace it, and to represent your country is an honour as well as joining the best players from other counties. Getting to see what makes them tick might be valuable some intercounty Championship match down the road. I think Paul Murphy would a great pick for this, agree on Enright. I think Geaney, Crowley, Moran, Maher, Darran, Tommy and Donnacha. James would be ideal too but with the final and shoulder a definite no go. These occasions are treasured by players who will likely never see Sam. Great to see a class player like Conor McManus get a day to shine like he did last year.

The panel usually do a few weekends of early training at my club, this year there seemed to be fewer players available to Joe and he cut two of the sessions. This was early to mid September so no Kerry or Dublin players, other lads caught up in club stuff too so a lot of unfamiliar faces. I haven't seen a squad list lately so no idea who's involved now. I get the feeling that the players themselves enjoy it but it seems to be losing its appeal to supporters. the fact that they've moved from October to late November wont help either as Croke Park can be a bleak spot in July never mind then.

Just on the topic of players winning medals in different counties, Peadar Healy, the new Cork manager, won a South Kerry Championship medal with Valentia back in the 80's when he was a guard stationed in Caherciveen.

I see Sinead Kissane is questioning if the All-Blacks should be allowed both their National Anthem and the Haka before games, one or the other she tells us in the interest of fairness.
Personally I think Kerry should have their own Haka before games and call it the Yerra!

Our ice maiden has her own ritual, first humiliating Eddie O'Sullivan and now telling the world's greatest ever rugby team that to gain her approval they must banish their tribal rituals, although she did give 'em the option of abandoning their National Anthem. Personally I don't think TV3 should have cut the staff budget that much for the World Cup.
