Sounded like a classic in the semi final in Killarney today. 3-17 to 3-15 to the Marys. Some scoring in a 60 minute game!

It should be a cracking final!! But Mary's just edge it for me even though spa have expiernce of loosing these finals. Was at Mary's game today as I thought it was the best pick of the day. Big men and dominant around midfield with lively forwards inside. Spa will find it hard to break them down. Was reading match report of Mitchels and Spa game and seen the goals (link) www.kerrygaa.ie/news/366284/Spa_2_16_John_Mitchels_1_10 Two great goals by the spa man.

a lot of county fianls around the country have been switched to allow people watch the rugby. After the French game, who would want to miss it....

Going by the semi finals, Spa-Marys promises to be one not to be missed, rugby or no rugby. County board don't have much choice on this. They could hardly play the games at 3pm and 5 pm on a Sunday evening.

Yes but the county board have no choice but to fix the game for Sunday. There is an absolute glut of fixtures to be played yet this year. It will see most teams playing until Christmas.
The loss of Austin Stack Park, the only suitable venue with floodlights, is being keenly felt this winter.

Someone made a point during the week on the forum that finishing the Club, junior and intermediate championships earlier in the summer would see a greater focus from the district teams in the county championship. This probably makes sense?

The loss of Austin Stack Park, the only suitable venue with floodlights, is being keenly felt this winter. The winner of the intermediate is down to play a Tipp team (Upperchurch-Drombane or Clonmel Og )in Tipp on the weekend of the 25th. Seems like a case of crossing the fingers and hoping it isn't a draw. Anyone fancying having a bet on the game should stay well away from the draw anyway as I could easily see an "injury-time" winner deciding this if things are level towards the end. The situation in the Senior and Junior is a bit more relaxed as regards Munster as the Senior game is down for the 15th of November, while the Junior isn't until the 22nd of November.

South Kerry v Kenmare District is down for the 25th. Bit of a problem if St. Marys win at the weekend.

Ah shure if there's a draw the intermediate replay can take place Saturday morning, then the St Mary's lads can play Kenmare with South Kerry on Saturday evening and they they can represent Kerry in Munster against the Tipp team in Tipp on Sunday. Not a bother....

This probably makes sense? Wouldn't be possible as Novice, Junior and Intermediate teams will have players playing minor and in some cases, senior for Kerry and the "free weekends" where players are released to their clubs in the summer are confined to the senior championship. As it is currently, the Novice, Junior and Intermediate see the first round and quarter finals played over 2 or 3 weeks in April and the semi finals and finals played sometime in October/November.

Abbeydorney is only 5 miles from Tralee and could be used in my opinion for a Friday night or Saturday night game.

I would love to see Marys v Spa tomorrow.
The club championships, especially the junior and intermediate ones, are the best competitions and I love to see ordinary club players doing something inspirational on the road to winning the All Ireland in these competitions.
A few examples...
The performance of Adrian Cahill at corner back for Brosna in last years final in Croker. One of the Curtins at midfield finds himself in possesion about 45 yards out and lamps over a point and punches the air in delight as if to say "I will be telling the grandkids about that". .
In 2007 or 2008 in Croker, the leap by a Duagh player to fetch a kickout, the dummy kick with the right foot and then the massive point with the left from midfield. A quick look at the programme says it a young lad called Anthony Maher. A definite prospect when he fills out..
The final free by Stephen Wallace to win the junior final of 2007 (i think). He won itthe free himself and was injured. He gets treatment, gets up and puts a difficult kick from out near the sideline over the bar. John Egans goal v Warrenpoint in the best game I saw in 2015 in Portlaoise in the intermediate semifinal
The display by a midfielder for Kenmare in the junior final a few years ago. I think his name was Wharton. He was never to going to play county football so he emptied the tank for his club and the lads he went to primary school with.

It is certainly nice and romantic all right in the club context in the autumn/winter club window. It won't pay the bills at national level though for the Association or generate the cash flow.
