Saturday 4th October - Austin Stack Park Shannon Rangers V South Kerry (4pm) Dingle V Killarney Legion (5:30pm)
Sun 5th October - Fitzgerald Stadium Mid Kerry V Laune Rangers (2pm) Austin Stacks V West Kerry (4pm)
Two good double headers to look forward to next weekend. Who is going to win it out? Who will be captain next year?

Exciting times with the CC back.
I'll go with: South Kerry Dingle in a tight one Rangers Stacks Favourites to go all the way?

I think Dingle are the dark horses despite a tough quarter-final on Saturday. West Kerry might shock Stacks.

Lads I must say Im puzzled as to why ye haven't even given Legion as much as a prayer. They knocked out a good (5-in-a-row hunting) Crokes team albeit they were without Gooch. Legion have some classy players such as Donoghue, Lyne and Conor Keane and some decent club players to complement them also. I wouldn't write them off at all. I wouldn't have them as clear cut favourites but at the same time I think they are in with a great shout of winning it out.

Not sure where you get the idea that people on here are not giving the legion a prayer.

I don't think anyone is writing them off! lol I said Dingle in a tight one!! Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Legion win.

I'm not writing Legion off either. Thought they might actually be favourites but I've side with Dingle to shade it. Doubt many will agree with my call on West Kerry to pull off a shock over Stacks.

impossible to call, perhaps the most open championship in years. could pose a problem in terms of captain next year, though i guess that Crowley, 3Donaghy, Donnacha, Declan/Sheehan/Killian would be the front runners, with O Donoghue also in line if Legion win (unlikely).i could be wrong, but West kerry, Shannon rangers and Dingle have no players who will make the senior team next year, so they would all have no captain in waiting.
assuming a divisional side wins it, whats the set up with the club senior and have the crokes a chance of winning that, meanging they'd be back in the Munster club?

Really looking forward to these games at the weekend, between South Kerry and Stacks I think but you never know.

Saturday 4th October - Austin Stack Park
Shannon Rangers V South Kerry (4pm) - a lot will depend on the availability of Declan Sullivan and fitness of Bryan Sheehan. While it is difficult to see past South Kerry but if there is going to be a shock next weekend this could be it.
Dingle V Killarney Legion (5:30pm) - bad preparation for Legion with the defeat to Spa but they had nothing to play for so maybe they had a weakened team out. Could be the best game of the weekend - will go for Legion by 2 or 3.
Sun 5th October - Fitzgerald Stadium Mid Kerry V Laune Rangers (2pm) - probably wont be for the faint hearted but Mid Kerry should be a good bit too strong. Austin Stacks V West Kerry (4pm) - Stacks were impressive in the last round and if they have been able to keep up that momentum they should be at least 6 points too good for West Kerry.

I think that semi finalists will be Legion, Stacks, South & Mid Kerry; Legion cannot be underestimated what with James O'D, Kelly, Lyne, Podge& Conor Keane; add in David O'Sullivan & Shaun Keane and you have a fine side; Billy Maguire is also a decent club player- they might be suspect in the full back line but should have too much for the men from the West; Dingle will rely on the Geaneys and will probably field all their minors but don't think it will be enough. Stacks sense that a county is there to be won and are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to oust West Kerry; they are strong throughout the field and with Star buzzing will probably be too strong ; South Kerry were the most impressive team I have seen this year but a lot will depend on how fit Declan & Bryan are- they have good back up in Killian, Greg Gibson plus Daly & O'Sullivan at mid field. Mid Kerry should be too strong for Laune Rangers but this is a local derby and anything could happen; Laune have belied their Div 2 form with this championship run but Darran, Donnacha, Gavan O' Grady plus Ronan Murphy should see them through.

whats the story with the senior club draw, or how far is that championship gone? Legion vs Crokes in the final. I'm not sure if there is a date yet. It will probably depend on how Legion progress in the county championship.

Leaving green and gold tinted glasses aside, the county championship is a higher calibre of championship than any other in the country. Divisional clubs have not gone too well of late but they do bring up the level of the championship. I think in 2011 three divisional clubs made the semi-finals. The intermediate and junior All-Ireland championships then offer all clubs at their level a route to Croker.

I'm lucky enough to be able to see about 10 county championship games a year and I cannot tell you the last time I came away impressed with what I saw.

I think it's club football overall that is of a high calibre, rather than specifically the county championship.

Can anyone tell me if Tomas O'Se, the Kerry minor, will feature for West Kerry this weekend? Iv had a look through the match reports this year and he doesn't seem to have played at all for the divisional side.

Right, I see He looks like he would be physically capable of it with many of his schoolmates turning out for Dingle as well. Is there any particular reason he's not playing any senior games

I did hear he was taking a year off (as opposed to college/uni) to go travelling with Riverdance so maybe he doesn't want to risk injury before that.

Yeah it's because of the dancing. And in fairness it's no bad thing that he doesn't play senior, less ware and tare; and hopefully he'll be better for it in the future.
