Agreed KG. It's important for the long term future of Kerry football that the big towns are well represented. The great advantage Kerry have is the strenght throughout the county. It is always a bit tougher in the towns with the additional distractions to maintain this advantage.

Some savage competition in midfield. Great to see. A year ago this week people were wondering if we had a midfield - Darragh in his last year, getting old, Scanlon still having to win people over despite his heroic performance against Dublin in 2007 and Quirke being treated like a pariah (by me among others). What a difference a year makes. Moran Kennelly Darragh Scanlon Quirke Donaghy potentially if released from full foward with Tommy in there. Bohane can play there Griffin

Brian Moran I'd say, David is unavailable due to U21 comittments.

He came on against Tyrone last time out. I saw that alright but there is a difference between a cameo appearance and starting! What I meant was- is he impressing in training, has anybody got any inside info on how he is doing? He is a very good footballer

Because so why the panic? The uncertainty could reduce the enjoyment of the Friday evening pints! Also the absence of a team to discuss with the chin stroking high stool experts may force us to discuss more trivial matters such as the economy and the presence or absence of a god etc! ;D

the timing of the announcement of the team selection is calculated by an advanced mathematical formula known only to the management. It is all part of our cunning plan to bewilder all before us into submission in 2009...... ;D ;D ;D

From having a look on google maps, Bellaghy looks to be quite a small little place. Am I looking at the correct location. Just about 10 miles beyond Dungannon. Not a bad spin from the smoke. I think I will go on sunday so.

Funny thing is where are numbers 26 to 30, Tyrone had them the last day. Sheehan has probably paid for his fitness and form, would have preferred to see Maher or Kennelly get a run instead of Quirke. We've seen him play before and I'd have doubts about his movement in Croke Park. Sean O Sullivan, Darragh(understandably) and Bryan aren't even in the subs at the moment.

This looks to be a formidable selection.
I did not realise that Kieran O'Leary, Aiden O'Shea and Killian were still eligible for u21 selection as per Kerry GAA website.
Looking at the substitutes I am surprised that it is Maurice Corridan rather than brother Pat that is chosen. I am also surprised that last year's u21 corner back, Colin O'Mahony, is not getting a run. He is not flamboyant but he has impressed me greatly as an old fashioned corner back. Perhaps, he is injured. On the other hand, I suppose they cannot accommodate everybody.
I have already written about one of my all time favourite Kerry players, MFR. It has been clear to me that he has lost his inter county edge for the past three or four years. Therefore, I cannot understand why they they keep recycling this once marvelous corner forward.

None of the three are u21,obviously a typo.
Strong enough team,Mike and Kieran will probably be a bit rusty. It might be tight enough in Derry on Sunday. The lads probably will have just undergone three weeks hard training also.
I accept your point re MFR veteran, its unlikely he will get into the final team ahead of several other players on the panel.Someone like MFR can play a huge role on the training ground in practice games. Its as much about the 33 as the first 15.
Best of luck to the lads and management on Sunday.

Aidan Shea, Young and O'Leary are not under 21. Are they injured or whats the story.
Didnt expect to see Tom Sullivan back after only a few weeks training. Interesting that Jack is sticking with Mahony full back, is an obvious sign thats where he sees him during the summer.
I didnt think they would risk Tadgh and am glad to see Quirke start. Thought he did well when he got a chance last year and if you look at the way Tyrone managed their midfield in last years final, there might be a place there for Quirke this year.
Big game for Donaghy. He'll have seen how Tommy W played against Tyrone and Donegal and will know that Jack is unlikely to favour a (yawn) "Twin Towers" full forward line this year. He knows he'll need to be on top of his game if he is to be first choice this year.
Good to see MFR back as well. Saw him line out at corner forward at a training match a few weeks before the all ireland last year. Scored every chance that came his way, didnt waste one. He still has something to offer, even if it is a cameo role.
Can see Kerry emerging with at least a point from this one and a draw could be on the cards (7/1 or thereabouts). But I think we might just shade it by a point or two.
