Probably young Thompson who came in against Cork. He settled down after a few balls and he is decent defender. I would certainly include the Lucey lad as possible option at midfield. He's 6ft. 5 or 6 ins. tall and has good hands. He may not be the best distributor but possesion is v-important. I do expect Sommers to be recovered though.

Pa Killkenny is a blow for us, i reckon Thompson will fill in for him.! As regards Lucey...its unlikely he'll start lads. he is a fine size of a man but his footballing ability is quite limited! Sommers should make it alright....grady is a doubt though i hear....has been struggling with a knee injury prior to munster final and hasnt shaken it off yet! id expect mangan to come in wing...will be vital for breaks against that crowd! very tough team to pick for management!

I have long since given up on seeing Kerry winning a minor All Ireland.
I will settle now for seeing two of three gems coming through.
James Walsh and young Culhane and maybe one other.
Let the minor cup go to the teams on creatine

I agree lads , I can't see us winning a minor anytime soon . Our players just are not that good at that age they usually don't come through until they are 21 or 22 . I think we will be well beaten Saturday , Tyrone a big strong team and we just can't beat those types of teams . I do expect however to see four or five of this team coming through , O' Grady , Culhane ,Walsh , Kilkenny , Mark Reen has ability and maybe Sean Keane if that many make it then that's not too bad . In 2001 Kerry lost to Dublin but Declan o' Sullivan , Colm Cooper , Kieran Donaghy , Daniel Bohane , Donacha Walsh all made it . Already from 2008 Barry John Keane , James o' Donoghue , Barry John Walsh , and John Lyne have all been on the senior panel . Barry Shanahan , Paul Geaney , and maybe Daithi Casey are all prospects . So we won't win but three or four every year is what we are looking for .

As far as I am concerned, the trick isn't finding iron, we have plenty. The trick is turning it into solid steel.

Padraig McCarthy, David Culhane, Jason Hickson, Mark Reen, Eanna O'Connor. Chris O'Leary and Conor Cox were close, I think Conor might have been on the panel at one stage. We have a very young team, a lot of these guys are eligible next year as well.

Maybe history will repeat itself. Wasn't it in 2007 that Kerry went up against a highly fancied Tyrone side in the QF with a load of changes made after losing to Cork in the MF. They gave Tyrone a good beating that day.

A lot of changes lets hope it wont take them too long to settle into the game (taking into account its on in Croke Park too) when they mightnt be too familiar with each other.

Damien Horgan (Gk) is Jack O'Shea's nephew. Delighted for him and his family.

It is difficult to assess the merits of the team. There is no doubt but that a huge amount of work has gone into the preparation and there has been a massive commitment from all concerned. It has been suggested to me that maybe they peaked very early in the season and they looked exceptionally good then. In any case I believe that major changes had to me made after the Cork game. Watching some of the challenge games and training sessions I think it is fair to say that the selection of this team was very difficult. There were a good few injuries - otherwise the entire panel were all performing well and one would wonder if that was a good or a bad indicator.
Undoubtedly the boys that have been replaced and omitted will be disappointed today. They should not be. They are fine young men with a bright future and some of these lads that will represent this County in years to come. Parents and others who may wish to realize their personal and unfulfilled sporting ambitions sometimes put unhealthy pressure on young lads. At times like this they need positive, appropriate and constructive reasoning. As the old saying goes “It ain't what you eat but how you chew it”
Finally, I still believe that if they get the run of the ball that they can win this game. Best of luck boys.

I hope I am wrong but my hope for the young lads isn't great. Saw the Tyrone Vs Armagh Minor Game and they were pretty fearsome for a bunch of lads U-18.

Any bunch of lads wearing a Kerry jersey always have a chance no matter what age group. They have been getting the best of coaching from a very young age so they will always stand a chance. They might catch fire on the wide spaces of croke park it's all on the day. Here's hoping it happens

Well nobody expects Kerry to win on Saturday and thats an unusual position for any Kerry team. While Tyrone deserve to be hot favourites, I hope that Pat uses this to his advantage. Pat has the ability to bring the best out of fellas and I hope that happens on Saturday.

Damien Horgan is no relation of Jacko, it is his first cousin Shane Horgan who is Jack's nephew. The two of them are GK's.

Having only seen 2 of the games this year, there are so many changes to those lineouts that I dont know what to expect.
Having said that I think we should over-react to the poor performance against Cork. Conditions were very difficult and it was their first game in about 7 weeks (and throw the leaving cert into the ring too).
Kerry have a slight advantage in having already played an early start this year. If they can start the game well and use the wide open space of the pitch, they will have a chance.
Best of luck to them.

any idea why the 2 mid fileders are out, the young george lad is off the panel, did some thing happen him? Was at a Challenge game they had against Laune Rangers senior's in Killorglin last week. Durrant played no part in that game even when Somers limped off injured with some knock that is obviously still not right. Looked like a knee or an ankle injury. That Big tall lad from Dr.Crokes(I think) Lucey, came on before George so it's fairly obvious they lost hope in him after he's off form day against Cork. Its a shame Grady and Somers aren't 100%. That same game both Grady and Somers were playing well until both went off injured. Grady won alot of ball and I think Somers was on Liam Hasset. Bastible did well against Mike Frank as well so that should stand to him against Tyrone. A lot of gutsy decisions From Driscoll. Admire him for it. Feel there is a big game in the minors. They haven't played for the hour yet.
