Where do we stand with regard to the All stars this year. There hasn’t been too many outstanding attacking performances. Without seeing anyone else’s team and with zero thought having gone into it this is the way I would have it Pre- final. Hughes Glynn Eoin Ban Gallagher Tom Sullivan McHugh Forker/Mogan McCambridge Langan Conroy McDaid Rian O’Neill Maher Turbitt Gallen ?
Just as I was typing really struggled with the forwards. Honestly don’t even feel great giving any of the 5 an all star nailed on so far. Definitely a good few backs who are more deserving. Maybe I’m missing forwards that I can’t think of but not a great sign

A shout for Brian Ó Beaglaoi.
We might be short nominations let alone All Stars. Maybe Paidi Clifford for a nomination.
Sam Mulroy for an All Star? Ryan O'Donoghue?

Too much competition in the half back line for O Beaglaioch. It’s either Tom or Paul in the full back line who have the best shout.
Don’t think Paudie has much of a chance to be honest.

No All Stars for Kerry this year. The nature of our campaign has meant we played only Derry and Armagh as significant games. Derry wax awful, no one deserved an All Star who played in that game. And in the end Armagh was a poor loss. There were too many standout performances in other games in Ulster and round robins.
I’d expect they will be shared between Galway, Armagh, Donegal, and Mayo.

Of our lads I'd say murphy and beaglaoich will get nominated at least beyond that maybe diarmuid or Tony brosnan. I'd say the all stars this year could be a collectors item no kerry or dublin players ! Which has only happened 3 times since 1971 1990 1998 and 2003!

This. I don't think we'll get an All star. I remember in the Armagh game at about the 50th or 60th minute I was thinking Paudie Clifford will get MOTM. Begley was the best player in the Derry game. Paul Murphy was our player of the season I think.

I’d say they will find an All Star place for the Louth wing back Craig Lennon who scored 4-7 from play in the championship including goals v Dublin in the Leinster final and against Kerry.
That is some scoring for a wing back.

That is some scoring for a wing back. Lennon didn't get the Louth goal against Kerry, it was the number 2. He was quiet enough against Kerry and was taken off half way through second half. I don't remember him doing much in the Donegal quarter final either. I would be surprised if Lennon got an all star ahead of lads like Forker, McCambridge, Mogan, Ryan McHugh and Dylan McHugh.

After the final I’m still struggling massively with this team, particularly in the forwards. At the moment this is what I think without not much thought gone into it: Hughes (Best goalkeeper this year, no doubt) McCambridge (Honestly never heard of him before this year, great year) McKay (Struggling a bit here but can’t think of anyone else) Tom Sullivan (People have overshadowed his goal miss as a non All Star year. He was Kerry’s front runner for FOTY until semi, destroyed Murray in quarter. He does things no other back can do and is taken for granted) McHugh (Galway’s best player this year) Forker (Touch and go between him and Silke) Mogan (Donegal’s best player this year) Conroy (Cert at midfield) Langan (Probably the closest call. Just think he was a bit better than both Armagh midfielders) Maher (Great final to cap a great year) O’Neill (Mixed the good with the bad, performed when it mattered most though) Conaty (Great year asides from Kerry game) Gallen (The only inside forward this year who performed consistently) ? ? (Honestly don’t know who should get the two other inside spots. Finnerty missed most of the year and played well in the semi. Turbitt was taken off today at 40 mins. Walsh couldn’t get one. A bad year to be an inside forward with 7 sweepers standing in front of you.

Lads, I cannot see any Kerry all star, the only ones on the arc are Tom Sull and Brión O'Beagleoich, but looking at the overall picture, it was a defenders year more than a forwards year .

Did he score that much from play? Good free taker but the other corner forward scored more play from what I remember

Edit: I see up the page here I also shouted for O'Donoghue.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that the only reason they won't pick TSG 15 is that, well TSG did it, so they have to be different; otherwise they will only as smart as TSG gang and we can't have that.
Any glitch in a non finalist puts paid to their chances and that we didn't prevail is a bit of a glitch in itself - I am sick all day myself after someone again sayin we'd have bate the pick of what was there yesterday; are they winding me up or what? On a good day I think we would but we weren't there so sin é but latchicos even on here thinking of next year has me throwing furniture around the gaff - I even mopped the floor to calm myself but the handle broke, probably with the surprise of never having met me before!
Donegal's Gallen is an interesting specimen - laddos tell me they just love marking him in training; do they hell, I'd say he is used to drop a hint of the slán agus beannacht! I saw him take over the show of a day in Donegal and he still a teen', probably the best performance in a club game I ever saw, bearing in my mind I was a late developer myself as an analyst (of the piss artist variant!) and so most of my evidence is outside Chiarraí - covered my arse nicely there! Seriously though Oisín is everything though I often wonder if the targeted physicality today has him injured so much, maybe a bit like our own freckled boy and that Clifford Dave is never injured has me thinking I'm right. The Donegal buachaillín rua has been plagues with injuries for years so if there is room for compassion he sure deserves consideration.

2 Clifford’s, Briain and Tom nominated. Tony Brosnan arguably unlucky to miss out. He’d probably a better year than David

I would love for their to some sort of system where the all stars are nominated through the year so it might be more representative. For example, kerry had a shot at end of normal time to put Armagh out. Would they have received 11 all star nominations if that had gone over the bar even though the difference is a single performance?
Also, am I right in saying that Barry McCambridge didn’t start a game until the quarter final? I don’t begrudge his nomination but there is a huge recency bias in the nominations.

To be fair didn't Donaghy get one in 14 based on 2 games. For me, Tom Sullivan Brian OBeaghlaoich Both deserve one but we will get lucky to get 1 and in truth that's what our year looked like.

I’d have to check that. He didn’t start most, if not all, of the Ulster games anyway. I agree with the recency bias though, but that happens every year. Owen Mulligan did flip all until he scored that goal in 2005, and got an All star.
