So just to start with, I think it's ridiculous that the game was fixed for Paddys Day the same time all the parades are due to start. Can't see too many families coming as a result. Hopefully it'll be changed but think it will have been done so by now if so. Rant Over!!
Now to the game, I think this game is set up for a fairly comfortable Kerry win, a point for Kerry should guarantee Kerrys division 1 status for next year. Don't see us making a league final unless Derry slip up but this game is all about giving fellas a run and securing our league position. Roscommon have been poor so far in the league, barring a victory vs Monaghan they haven't been very competitive in games unless you count the draw with what was a poor Galway team in round 2 in brutal conditions. Kerry haven't been brilliant either and I'd expect fellas like Paul Geaney & Stephen O’Brien to see a good chunk of game time. But I do think Kerry will have too much for them and unfortunately for Roscommon they have Kerry & Derry in their last 2 games so I think their run in division 1 is coming to an end also.

Paul and Stephen these few weeks are make or break management have to decide whether to roll the dice another time Or Go with the new younger forwards I would not like to see a “ bomb squad “ scenario were we end up with an over load of inside forwards and be short on hard running hard tackling fleet footed runners

I heard it on the Kerry Football pod that they reckoned Kerry would go full strength for this game and give lads games against Galway then to fringe lads. I reckon they’d be better off giving it to lads for this game. Tell the young lads to go out and dig out a result away to Roscommon who are battling for every point. No point giving them a time in a waste of time game against Galway at the end as a token gesture. You would literally learn nothing. Now you can’t change the whole team, but just mix a few lads in. Team off the top of my head: Murphy Graham Foley Casey Okunbar Morley O’Brien DOC JOC Spillane Paudie Evans Clifford Roche Brosnan

I see the merits that we should mix it up vs Roscommon and go all out vs Galway, but discounting a relegation threatened Roscommon at home, may be not be the most prudent thing to do. I would be more in favour of trying players in both matches, while also retaining a solid and experienced spine.. It could be just as profitable to try players in both, but without the gamble.
I would appear from the league panel we have lost Cillian Bourke and Dylan Geaney, who will join Tom Sullivan, Killian Spillane, Brión O’Beagleoich and Mike Breen.
I would go with: Shane Ryan, Dylan Casey, Jason Foley, Damian Bourke, Graham O’Sullivan, Tadgh Morley, Sean O’Brien, Diarmuid O’Connor, Joe O’Connor, Adrain Spillane, Paudie, Stephen O’Brien, DC, Seanie and Paul Geaney.

Galway game then is a run out for plaeyrs on the fringes, to see what they are made of. lose to Roscommon and that all goes out the window so it all depend on the result

For me Adrian Spillane is going to be a key player this year. Now Jack Barry is gone we need someone to drop back and block the middle channel so Tadhg can sweep, like Jackndid. This was glaringly obvious against the Dubs. This is not natural to either O Connor in midfield but I feel its a role Adrian will cherish.

Galway is a top three team in my book I would say it won’t be a “waste of time game “ We could end up meeting them in the biggest game of our year in July I would like to go flat out to beat Galway Roscommon as you say we can get players more minutes that we need to try out because we need more depth in the squad Especially more defenders

For those unable to travel on Sunday the game is on TG4 1.45.
Whomever thought a game in St Patrick's day was a good idea.

It was and that's a little different as opposed to a full intercounty fixture list. I was in when Án Ģaeltacht played against Caltra.

I'd see more hype around an East Kerry Championship game than I have for this game. I wonder does the clash with Paddys weekend have such an impact or is it the opposition, or both 🤔

Actually the Dublin thread was very quiet too until the Thursday, then it took off in anticipation of the team selection.
Being honest, I think the fact it's Roscommon, the fact we won't be relegated or realistically make a league final leaves this fixture in limbo, thing is the Rossies are fighting for survival so wouldn't discount but there appears to be disengagement between the management and players there, which doesn't help their cause...
But ya, has the feel of a mid season pitch opening more than a national league fixture

But ya, has the feel of a mid season pitch opening more than a national league fixture Roscommon's League campaign has suffered due to a lot of injuries and players from last year that has opting out. Enda Smith was suspended for the Tyrone game and Brigids players was given the week off for that match, had they all played who knows it could be Roscommon on 5 points now and Tyrone 2 points. Donegal's Mark McHugh and Sligo's Gerry McGowan stepping away from their roles in the Roscommon management team hasn't helped either.

Kerry are in the perfect position going into this game. They have avoided relegation, have 2 games left to give new players experience, this one against a team that is not doing so well. Roscommon will try hard but must have some doubts about survival. Cillian Burke, Sean O'Brien, Dylan Casey, Barry Dan should all be starting. They should be given freedom to show what they can do and prove they can compete in this type of battle. A good performance here would be great for their confidence. And dropping 2 points may avoid a complicated situation that Kerry seem to be heading straight into, a training camp in Portugal and a league final on the same week. And with tired players there is the prospect of being beaten for the second time by Dublin or Derry in the league. Nothing to gained in that.
So a bit of political shrewdness may be in order.

Looks like Kerry will cost me on my league accumulator.
Donegal Down Kerry
All to finish top 2.
Really felt Kerry with our home games would make a final.
Ah well.

Of all the injured players, there is no mention or details of what Killian Spillane is suffering from or timeframe..

As we expected, most of the same team from Tyrone with a couple of fellas getting game time (Roche & Barry Dan). Good to see Mike Breen back in the squad, didn't expect to see him for another few weeks. Lets hope he can be in contention come Championship as I think he's our long term replacement for Tadgh at 6 when the time comes

Team as expected, delighted to see Sean retained and Spillane, it adds more balance. like the bench, Coffee, Breen, Spillane, Geaney etc..
Hope to see Breen and Spillane see game time.

Good few lads gone from the panel from last time out; Diarmuid O’Connor, Shane Murphy, Stefan Okunbor and Tony Brosnan. Presumably they’re all injured, 4 is a lot of injuries to pick up in 2 weeks of training.

Dylan and conor Geaney also missing but still can’t figure why not more new lads starting just don’t get it. Dubs today starting a bunch of new lads and still bring on vasquel mannion and mcCaffrey in the second half to really kill the game. There is no need to start Paul Murphy or even Graham tomorrow let a few young lads get some experience. All I see here is management too scared not having confidence in the whole panel and afraid to loose. Against Dublin Foley and graham got roasted but Casey gets dropped so he’s sitting on the bench since I mean is that giving him any confidence now did the same last year. If he is not good enough fine give another lad a chance.

so whos is out?
C Geaney D Geaney Stefan. Brosnan Brian O B Diarmuid. Burke Murphy probably just rotated. Ruari Murphy Tom Sullivan
anybody else?
given what jack said last week about injuries would be surprised to see an absolute avalanche of changes for Galway game and a few lads minded tomorrow
