I think this achievement needs serious highlighting. The Green defeated one of the strongest hurling schools in Ireland - Ardscoil Rís in the decider to take the spoils back to the Kingdom. I also read The Green have applied to play Harty Cup in 2024/25 school year so they will be competing in the Hurling Harty cup and Corn Ui Mhuiri in football. That is serious going! Would be a good move imo. Hurling in Kerry can be slow to make the step up to the next level and often miss the opportunity. While The Green aren't likely to be winning the Harty Cup at least they're willing to pur themselves out there. Causeway had planned on it in 2021 I think but because of Covid there was none played. I think they might have played in it sometime in the 70s.

Is the O’Sullivan Cup final still going ahead tomorrow? I can’t find any word about it anywhere.

Historic win for mounthawk this Afternoon claiming there first Osullivan cup Strong team performance against a sem team who wouldn’t be as strong as previous sem teams but huge credit goes to a great performance backed by massive individual performances from Paddy Lane Tomas Kennedy And Jack Murphy
Mounthawk will be confident heading into the last 8 of the corn ui mhuiri but do not write the sem off as they have Maidhici Lynch To return who will be a massive boost to their quest for 3 in a row

Unfortunately missed the game but reading the reports seems like a very exciting final of two halves .Some scoring return from Lane Mounthawk and Hennigan Sem 1-16 between them Lane 1-09 with 1-02 from play and Hennigan 0-7 with 0-3 from play .Heartiest congratulations to Mounthawk on winning what I think is their first senior trophy .while a little fortunate to overcome sceilige in the semi final they will justifiably befavourites entering the knockout phase of the corn ui mhuiri after Christmas following the win over the sem today. There will be strong interest in the draw for this competition coming up in the next week with four Kerry teams in the hat.My own team sceilige could be the dark horses yet

....Rochestown who weaseled out of playing Pres Milltown are in action tomorrow in the preliminary quarter final. Could've been 5 kerry teams in the quarters.

It's quite amazing how the landscape of schools football has changed in the last decade.
If someone told you Milltown, Castleisland and Mouthawk would be in theCorn Uí Mhuirí you'd be told you were mad. Similarly if you told someone Mounthawk would overtake The Green as the main school in Tralee.

As the expression goes - one swallow does not make a summer Mounthawk's success has been over 20 years in the making - they have had some excellent players (and several Kerry minors) over that time but for various reasons (frequently injuries) they have not made the breakthrough until this year. The Green's fortunes have ebbed and flowed and they remain a strong bastion of football - even if hurling, soccer and basketball amongst other sports are flourishing there. Gone are the days when football was the only game in town for the Green and a doctors note was required to excuse a lad from compulsory participation in football. Great to see so many Kerry schools playing A football - I firmly believe the strength of schools is a major factor in the future strength of senior football at club and county level.

Not saying football will become second fiddle in Tralee CBS by any means but there is a huge push towards hurling in the school now by teachers from Clare, Limerick and Daithi Griffin from Ardfert.

Just Seen St Pats Record A Historic Win Vs CBS The Green In Moynihan Cup Shield Semi Final.
Not Too Often You See St Pats Competing Vs The Green At U19 Level.
Football Is Flying In The School Competing For The First Time Ever In The Corn Uí Mhuiri This Year Narrowly Losing To Abbey And Drawing Vs Clonakilty. With Better Teams Coming In The Next Few Years With Members Of Their Russell Cup Winning Team Already Playing At Senior Level This Is A Huge Stepping Stone For Them.
It Will Be Very Interesting To See How They’ll Fair Out In Frewen Cup (U17 Munster A) This January With ISK In Round 1
Full Time Score:
St Pats 0-15 CBS The Green 1-11 (14)

Is this O'Sullivan Cup? It is not that important - just great to have young fellas from all schools playing well organised football in their formative years.

Mounthawk look like they’re on the way to their first corn ui mhuiri back boned by about 6 Kerry u20s …
The sem are playing clon this week and I expect a sem win and due to the way the draw has played out sem and mounthawk will meet in the semi final and I think in reality that could be your eventual final winner in my opinion
On the other side Colaiste Na Scellig have a bit of a banana skin facing a mallow side who are very strong down the middle with numerous cork minors and rumours has it Ian OSullivan the south Kerry’s school star man will be unavailable for selection .Tralee had a comfortable win over a relatively poor Tipperary school … They are very young and only have 3 players on the age of the competition so I think they’ll have a tight game with colaiste na scellig or mallow but would be out of their depth facing a sem mounthawk side in the later stages
Could be a all Tralee final which is exactly what the area would need
Will be interesting

My old school sceilige hopefully will have too much for Mallow when they meet on tues .Word down south is that the sem have a lot of injuries and could be up against a strong clonakity team with 4 cork minor forward some of whom destroyed Kerry in the Munster minor final two years ago .Yes this young green team have done really well to get to the semi final and now have every chance of making the final.Word from Tralee is that Aidan O Shea Mounthawk manager and Kerry u 20 selector having managed to get a flattering 7 players into the Kerry u 20 squad is looking beyond corn ui mhuiri and has his goal set on winning the hogan cup.It would be a great achievement for Kerry schools football if 4 teams made the semi finals but I think at least one cork school could upset the apple cart but big week of school football ahead and especially best wishes to Sceilige who are trying to emulate the great teams of the past

Unfortunately my prediction of one cork school making the semi finals came true when my old school sceilige just got edged out yesterday by mallow in Banteer .A combination of injuries and a man of the match display by mallows Gearoid Daly on emmet Daly restricting him to one point from play was the difference in the end despite good displays especially from the Sceilige wing backs.Prob mistake by the management that the sceilige keeper did no take the last free that dropped short to make it a draw at the time especially as he had just landed a 45.This is prob the end of this golden generation for colaiste Na Sceilige over the past 3 years and not getting past the quarter final each of the 3 years will hurt especially this year as they were drawn in the weaker bottom half of the draw but in fairness they showed fierce tenacity yesterday and could not be faulted for effort.Wishing the 3 remaining Kerry schools all the best in the remainder of the competition.

Two good games lined up for the semi final probably a double header ?
Mounthawk should edge out the sem I think but you can never right off the sem . Sem will be boosted by the return on Maidhici lynch and you’ll probably expect to see him picking up paddy lane which will be a good battle if Jamie Moynihan can produce a performance like he did the last day vs clonakilty they won’t be far off it at all .. sems forward scoring spread have improved aswell rather then being individually relying on hennigan other guys stepped up aswell .. will be a cracker
I believe CBS Will just about edge out PA Mallow but by a very small margin Gearoid Daly is the main man at centre half back for the cork school but due to CBS Inside forward line threat you could see him having to go out of position to either mark Ronan Carroll Or Jerh Brosnan which could benefit CBS… Cbs have a good few injuries but should still have enough to win this game and will make a final in which they didn’t expect at the start of the year
