Looking ahead to Saturday night, we know Jack can’t have the same team, due to injuries, have few any updates on players availability for the rossies.
Going blind I will assume the same defence, put barry Dan back in for Stefan , now the forwards🙈, DM, SOS, AS, DC, DR, PC
Tony to the bench in favour of a more defensive set up.
A must win game, should have the measure of the rossies at home, but they bring a strong running game, which we have struggled against, v mayo and Tyrone.

I think Geaney & White are due to start. My guess is the team could look like this: 1) S.Ryan 2) G.O'Sullivan 3) J.Foley 4) T.O'Sullivan 5) P.Murphy 6) T.Morley 7) G.White 8) J.Barry 9) B.O'Sullivan 10) D.Moynihan 11) S.O'Shea 12) A.Spillane 13) P.Clifford 14) D.Clifford 15) P.Geaney A strong team by all accounts and gives us more options from the bench also. I expect a more free flowing game than the Armagh game we saw in Tralee.

Looks good team for sure, just wonder if Jack will slip the boys that are just back straight in , either way, if available, they will play a part.

Ya, we'd want to be hitting more towards our starting c'ship XV. I think we are very light in defence and midfield due to injury.
I'm disappointed in this regard that the likes of Dan Donoghue, Dylan Casey and Ronan Buckley saw no game time.
From the all Ireland winning team and subs played, no new player bar Donal Down and to a degree Barry Dan have made any inroads, I don't think or consider that a successful league campaign... do ye?
Anyway Saturday night, I would expect the following.
Ryan, Graham, Jason, Tom, Paul, Tadgh, Gavin, Jack and Barry Dan, Moynihan, Seanie, Adrian, Paudie, DC and Donal Down... I can see Paul off the bench.

I would say Moynihan has improved, especially in the last few games. But other than Donal O'Sullivan nothing new has really been discovered.

I think if Jack found 2 players in the league he will be happy.
I think he found that in Donal Down and Roche.
I think he also found Stefan and Barry Dan as players that can be introduced.
With the injured lads to return we are in a good position.

I agree with you Royal.I've been speaking to a few lads that would be all doom and gloom usually and even they aren't too bothered. The way I see it is Jack understands the irrelevance of another league cup and the importance of back to back AIs.

I caught up on terrace talk analysis of the kerry v Tyrone game, I just don’t get the talk about playing paudie at 11, Paudie plays all over, with priority of bringing ball out of defence and transitioning to the forwards, whether he plays from 10 to 15 the number has ZERO to do with his roll, come on lads pick up your analysis, paudie is going thru a dip, but as well as that, he is getting plenty of attention as the man that makes kerry play, he will come good. That’s the critical part of their analysis, I must agree with their comment on our defence, too many of our defenders are spending way to much time up front and maybe it’s costing us on the defensive side. Just my observations. If you want analysis, Terracetalk ain’t the place to go!! Terrace Talk is awful in truth. They are afraid to go out on a limb to call it for what it really is. Hickson far better than Moynihan it must be said but overall it is bad analysis.

Agree, I like Timmy, and know him well, but Eamon Hickson had more of a journalistic brain, and having played at a fairly high level, abet Kerry Junior so had a good insight to that aspect of county level.
The current incumbent, is bland and monotone to me.

I must say i enjoy terrace talk.
I don't listen for indept analysis but rather bias pro Kerry love in !!
When you are not in the county the music etc is just a bit special.
Being serious though it is challenging for a local station to be to critical of its own community.
We should be thankful too because I often hear how the Dubs don't have any live radio coverage of its games like we do.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy TT and the live commentary, truth be told my job has me on the road a lot and I'll listen to TT on the podcast on a Wednesday and to go one sad point further, I'll listen to the match commentary when on the road later in the week.

I have only recently discovered Podcasts to be honest. They are a lifesaver driving down to the Dingle Peninsula and I tend to binge on them. I have a subscription to Parkinson who is a bit of a headbanger but enjoyable. James O is good on the Football Pod.
I also enjoy the odd Crime podcast.
The journey is shortened.

Now that Veteran has left this forum, could he be persuaded to do a regular podcast? I'd definitely subscribe to that!

Well, the Roscommon team for Saturday evening has been named. Its a strong enough team, but a bit weak in the half back line and in midfield in my opinion. Even though the Rossies have a strong forward line,(I think that Cox is the weakest of the 6 named), and have 3 more good forwards on the bench, the Kerry backs will have enough to cope with them. I'm looking forward to the battle between the Rossies full back line against DC and his accomplices inside. I've been contributing on this board occasionally over the last 18 months or so, and really enjoy the various topics and debates. But I have to admit to you that I'm actually a Rossie who has been exiled in Kerry for over 30 years. I've been fairly involved in football here since I came down and I'm a very keen follower of football at all levels. I'll be in Tralee proudly wearing the Primrose and Blue of my birthplace the next evening. Here's hoping for a good entertaining and sporting match. What happens the next evening, hopefully we (The Rossies), can stay in division 1 where we can continue to play against the top teams again next year, and gain more vital experience which will hopefully transfer into championship form over the next few seasons.

Good post mg72. However I can't see this being a good weekend for Roscommon fans. Kerry should have moved on from the "block" of training as Jack O'Connor called it and be much fresher on Saturday night. Mainly for this reason but also because, with 2 games left, players will want to leave a lasting impression on Jack, the home crowd and the need to nail down the 6 points I think they will go at it from the start and win with a good few points to spare.

Now while I understand Kerry if they click can beat any team by 5 or more points but out of interest why do you think it's sure to happen this Saturday? Kerry in Tralee recently only beat Armagh by 1 point the same Armagh side that lost to Roscommon the week before by 3 points.

I fully expect Kerry to collect the two points on sat evening and barring a bizarre set of results on the last day should ensure div 1 status for 2024.While the team listed on this forum should get the job done sat evening the fact we are going then with 2 workers rather than scorers in the half forward line will allow teams to set up a drift defence in front of David Clifford thus reducing his scoring rate from open play.Against a better team than Roscommon out the summer this set up could cost us in a tight low scoring game .Again I agree the challenge for Jack is getting the balance right and also buffer the midfield which has been patchy throughout the league. If Jack can solve this puzzle Sam might indeed stay in the Kingdom next July.

For those interested, Roscommon team has been named. Kerry will presumably be naming theirs at 8pm tonight as usual
