Absolutely terrible performance. Yet again don’t know how to handle Tyrone. Every Tyrone team at every grade are up for Kerry . For some reason almost every time we can’t match them . Same story today slow buildup passing across the field taking the ball into tackles losing it to Tyrone and then fouling Blame the ref all you want they were terrible today I’ve no doubt if they meet in the championship Tyrone will beat them We have been our own worst enemies against Tyrone & others the last 20 years. The mental toughness & concentration is a worry. How many AI's did we throw away due to mentality and carrying the ball into tackles?. What we have lacked is leadership on the pitch since Darragh o Shea left in 2009. Our half-forward line is too lightweight & lack coehesion. Dara Moynihan is too inconsistant & lacks composure for this level. I think D Clifford needs a rest for the championship coming, I would like to see him in the half-forward line for the championship as he has a quick brain and can kick from distance.

This notion of a Tyrone hoodoo is just that, a notion in people's heads going back to the noughties encounters. The statistics don't bear it out at all. Our championship record v Tyrone is 4 wins each. Couldn't tell you what the league stats are but I'd imagine it's even enough over the years. It's probably 50/50 with Mayo and Dublin as well. True, Tyrone have won the last couple of meetings but they hadn't beaten Kerry for years before that; was there talk of a Kerry hex on Tyrone in those years? Was there f*ck.

I actually went from bring angry with the ref to having sympathy for the ref's family by the end of the game. Imagine they hear awful stuff everytime this hero officiates (it wasn't anything anti-Kerry, it became more obvious as the game went on he hadn't an iota about how officiating should work). May GAA HQ cut their losses there and remove him from the intercounty list.
I felt sorry for Okunbor where he again (same as Armagh) seems to have a more difficult time getting frees than the average player. Maybe it's the size of the player that the refs see rather than the foul. Star had something similar.
Disappointed with Ryan more for the kickouts right before half time than the goal he left in. I'm sure he's embarrassed by it. On the balance one of the two great saves should have resulted in a goal so Tyrone did work hard to deserve a goal. I hope some of the fringe players realise their time to shine is dwindling. Not many efforts to beat down the door before championship. Focus on the Rossies now and get the 2 points. Hopefully that will keep us safe for another year.

Another thing which is very annoying is this racket of naming a team on a Friday night and two changes again before the throw in today. 1 change last week. Why bother with the announcements if you’re going to do that. Might as well change the 15 while we are at it. Nothing to stop teams as the GAA seem disinterested in stopping it

I appreciate that the modern game is all about structure, systems, set plays etc. etc. But I think we are missing a maverick amongst our troops ala Dara o'Sé/Paul Galvin. We're just too predictable.

Ref was poor but not the cause of Kerry losing. Too many players below par especially our forwards bar Seanie.Sone poster last year got upset when someone said Tyrone were Jack's bogey team. Well they may be. Since Jack's return its 2 nil to Tyrone. Am I shocked? No! Disappointed yes! Maybe now some will stop taking about league finals and realise we are in a relegation battle. Mick with the greatest of respect Kerry prior to today could have qualified for a league final and i have every right to mention it. Im a glass half full person.. you can choose which way you look at it but generally it's to play Kerry down or talk up others.

Referee was diabolical but so were Kerry. Simply do not know what to do against teams that defend with 15 inside the 45. The game was played on Tyrone terms. Got away with it last week. Even when on the break its all sideways and backwards. Not sure about some of the substitutions either. Keeper threw the ball into his own net and doesn't look comfortable under the high ball. Half back line too light, Midfield a major concern, Forwards include workhorses who offer very little else. Unfair on Ryan, Very solid under the high ball and apart from a very unlucky error kept us in it. Unfair on Ryan alright. Made some good saves. Goalkeeping errors happen to the best of them. Tyrone showed hunger for battle today. It can prove to be a wake up call.

I think the balance of our team was impacted by the late changes to the starting 15, I do think Spillane in the HF line and BDS in MF were missed.
We had a good first half, but SOS faded in the second half, have to assume still not up to 70 minute, but he is coming back to his best. I think Tyrone took a lot from the scores just before the h add of time, I think that fed their energy in the second half. Not a great second half for sure but Tyrone worked their socks off, we had chances to draw level and that’s disappointing that we did not capitalise on these chances. The Clifford boys look tired, they need more rest time in fairness and they got plenty going on as well to deal with, mind them they will be back to their best come the summer.

IExactly what Kerry have lacked especially since Darragh o Shea. Badly missed in crunch games as our players are just at each other to step up. Just look at the fear of shooting today within range. Can Diarmuid O Connor step up this year at midfield?.

Think Jack & Co have learnt a lot d far which is a big plus - can we use Stefan & Donal Down in championship games? It’s a yes for me. Jury is out on Warren, Brosnan, Burns, Barry Dan - we have our two half backs to return, both certainly needed, both outstanding last year. We will have Diarmuid O’Connor, O’Brien , Geaney plus both Spillanes too - we will be at the business end of the championship, no doubt. Cork seem on the upgrade which is to be welcomed, Dublin struggling a bit & no guarantee Mannion & McCaffrey will return as the players they once were - two points against Roscommon & we should be ok. Today was disappointing, no doubt, but the standard of refereeing was brutal, esp in the 2nd half - we lost by 3, were denied two cast iron close in frees which might have got us over the line - they were blatantly bad calls and affected the final result.
We are also behind in terms of fitness but that will come.

Tyrone deserved it as they showed more directness & hunger. Serious worries about our midfield & forwards. D Clifford is going to get more attention this year but surely the management have anticipated this and put a plan in place because when David is double or triple teamed that leaves us at least 2 extra players free. Paudie Clifford is very inconsistant as has proved over the last 3 years. Jack Barry is on the panel for 6 years yet when it comes to the crunch he is found wanting. Jack did a commendable job with the defence last year now he has a job on his hands with midfield and the forwards. Paudie Clifford inconsistent in the last three years? Whut?

Yes modern football is all about systems but I can't for the life of me work out what Kerry's attacking system is, surely retaining possession and going back and forth across the 45 can't be part of a system? When Dublin played possession football they did so with purpose and clear plan of probing and moving a defence from side to side. Also, I mentioned after the Armagh match and I think so previous posts after the Tyrone game allude to a similar instance... Players having an opportunity to kick a point and not even attempt it! Players moving laterally across the area in front of the 21 or running into the D need to be having a go if the opportunity presents itself. Are players afraid of missing now? I'm sure these players would be shooting and scoring these chances if they were wearing their club jerseys. MFs and HFs need to be scoring.

I find it frustrating watching them trying to break down a blanket defence. There's no variation, it's the same thing all the time, play it into the corner, work it back out, play it into the other corner. Same against Armagh last week. When it's not working, like today, there's no plan B. Things pick up a bit when Tom O'Sullivan gets forward, he takes his man on. And when Donal O'Sullivan came on today, he ran at his defender and created two scores. But Tom O'Sullivan's a corner-back, and Donal isn't on the starting 15. It seems like there's no starting forward who can do this, i.e. run at his man with a bit of pace. Are they lacking a bit of pace up front? Also missing Gavin White in this respect. Management must take some responsibility with the lack of variation in attack. There are other things you can do, try the odd long ball into the full-forward line, try and engineer a mark. Something. Teams are game-planning for Clifford better this year, not letting him get one-on-one with a defender. And Kerry's answer to it is not great so far.

Disappointing result. A draw was there for us at the end but we missed a few chances we’d normally get. We need to beat Roscommon now. That and a Tyrone win against Monaghan would most likely leave us safe as we have the head to head against Monaghan and a better scoring difference than the teams around us.

Free count was staggering. Tyrone got 26 frees and Kerry got 7 frees. Staggering. Kerry were rudderless after a bright start to the game. We will let the head clear and re watch later. Safe travels home to all. Maybe because we fouled more often. We do foul alot and I have pointed this out before. Alot of it are needless fouls. We were the authors of our own destiny. We did nt deserve to win. We fouled nearly four times as often as Tyrone? - I don't think so. More like Tyrone were able to do as they liked with impunity whereas Kerry seemed to be pinged every time they looked crooked at a white shirt. Referee was clearly intimidated by the home crowd. And that's not to take away from Kerry's shortcomings but the officiating was a big factor here too.

We can still get to the final on point deference if we win our last two games. It's unlikely that Armagh will win their last two. That should be the focus in training, we are not going to get relegated. My glass of course is always full to the brim.

Was really looking forward to this game and for the first twenty odd minutes I found myself asking what has happened to Tyrone. Then a freakish goal as a result of our keepers mishandling of a bread and butter ball seemed to waken a hunger in Tyrone they have lacked in recent games. They seemed to start connect and really start playing for each other which was bad news for us.
For me I was disappointed with our lack of a high press against the Tyrone kick out, I know Morgan has the ability to ping a ball over the top and create a dangerous attack if the opportunity arises. That said we did press quiet high but we failed to make it difficult for him to find a Tyrone player and thus we were on the back foot trying to defend against their running game as we were not anywhere even close to having a defensive structure in place as a result of having half the cavalry in an upfield half haphazard structure. Tyrone on the other hand retreated into a well organised defensive shell and we were for more concerned with hand passing in a controlled approach than probing with a fast ball or committing to runners to try to fracture their far too untested defensive shape.
I didn’t travel but I felt while the ref gave a few softish ones to the home side a quick rewind had me saying it was hard to argue with him as he got most decisions fairly correct. Kerry have enough firepower to defeat most teams if they get the ball up early and deliver intelligent ball but jogging up in an over controlled hand passing drill will bite them in the arse against a team like Tyrone or Derry. I think we either defend as we did in ‘22 and attack with pace with a view to disallowing our opposition an opportunity to create a defence that suffocated out best forwards. Seanie and David are living legends but no player can play against a team that can afford to deploy two or three defenders to stifle them while their teammates are eagerly waiting for a non pressure pass in a well drilled hand passing phase. It’s hard to watch a genius like David being smothered by players who have no worry or concern whatsoever that he might be dragging them collectively to an area of the field to create space and opportunities for his in running teammates. Strange tactics indeed which seem to serve the worries of our opponents, all that said we are missing serious cogs in our championship engine so let’s see what we can do against the Connaught men in the next two games. Giving a way a goal like that is as a result of an anxious dressing room. We give Tyrone the fodder to beat us when we make those mistakes. Pauric Readys attempt at clearing Tommy canavans goal by accident in an all Ireland final springs to mind. Blaming referees is sour grapes in my view. We need to press higher and be Ruthless when ahead.

How Mayo approach their last 2 matches will have an impact on the bottom of the table! But can't see them to go out to lose either! Unthinkable to be beaten by Roscommon at home. No disrespect to Roscommon!

Interesting comments and you could be right. However while I was very impressed with Stefan the last day its too early for judgement but he deserves to hold his place for the moon Jack B. I thought he had a fine game the last day. He also had a very good AI final last year. He has plenty in his locker but I get frustrated with him at times. Also has a habit of picking up silly cards but I'm still a fan of his. Jack Barry for me is in a similar position to Adrian Spillane, it's only when they are missing that we understand or get a feel for their true worth. Mayo bullied us on the flanks two weeks ago, whereas Saturday night was a differant gravy... Unfortunately, Spillane’s absence today was again sadly missed, a poor day at the office similar to the Mayo game, I find the comment on Ryan’s vulnerability under the high ball a tad amusing, seeing as it was a simple lapse of concentration cost us the three points, in saying that he did have two point blank saves one on one. The saves were good but the space and chances created were the frightening aspect. I’m also perturbed that we had no midfield cover on the bench, Stefan was badly caught out on occasion, it was interesting to note Rathmore’s Mark Ryan was not on the bench this week. Similar to Mayo game, lining out having four wing men below the average county height was always going to be exposes by a physical northern side. We can point the finger at the ref, but in all honesty we got what we deserved, we weren’t at the races at all. Jack said early doors, that winning the homes games was the priority and six points would on average result in us retaining the divisional status. The only positive for me, was Donal Down, in this regard the lack of game time for Killian is a wee bit alarming,

Stefan's midfield partner reserved one of his poorest performances in a Kerry jersey since, ironically enough, the All Ireland semi against the same opposition in 2021. Not easy for Stefan to step into a midfield missing some of the key players Kerry had around the middle 8 at the business end of last years c'ship. Possibly an unfair ask.
