Plenty positives after tonight - Graham O’Sullivan very good along with Tony Brosnan. Half forward line a concern without Seanie Shea. Dara Moynihan was good but the others struggled to influence the game. Nice to see Pa Warren make his debut - I have a lot of time for him. No goals conceded although chances were given up tonight. Good composure towards the end to work the ball forward for the final score.

Ryan O Donoghue got MOTM, I thought Tony Brosnan was a shoe in for it. O Donoghue kept Mayo in touch with frees but from my seat in the stand he didn't too a whole pile else. Good to win a tight game without playing well up front, albeit Mayo have one of the toughest defences around. Our own defence really stood up when the pressure was on though. It was the winning of the game. Ref was very slow in giving us frees I thought, he was quicker to award Mayo a fre then ourselves I felt.

That was a dog fight and we won and that is very very pleasing against a very strong side.
We were arguably down 5 starters from our strongest side.
Positive- Dylan Casey and Graham O Sullivan are well able for this level. Tony Brosnan is a real forward. Finally and in my eyes the most important another clean sheet.
Negatives- Murphy didn't have a great night bar a good save. Midfield we seemed to get well beaten there.
However it was fantastic to win missing Seanie. Delighted.

I’d say Paudie is lucky to sleep easy tonight, what a gaffe! That was for a four point lead and he tries a side foot?

Only watched it on tv but O’Donoghue seemed to give Tom O’Sullivan a real roasting - win every ball that came his way & kicked his frees. Ref gave two very handy frees to Mayo - the retake after Hennelly missed his shot & one soon after; defence was excellent though.

Great to win a tight game but felt we a little lucky too. Our defense was breached a couple of times and Mayo probably should have scored at least one goal. Overall as a unit the defense played well though. Murphy in goals struggled with kickouts I felt but did make a very important save. In first half one of his kickouts to Ó Beaglaoi was lost but that was Brian s fault for standing still. I thought Dylan had a fine game and Jason top notch again. Though Tom Sull struggled a little tonight but still was nt bad. Graham a fine game and Morley and Ó Beaglaoi too. Though we struggled midfield again but they tried hard. Dara Moynihan tried hard and did well enough. Thought Jack and Adrian struggled. Paudie tried hard but was nt one of his better games. Tony Brosnan was impressive and David again was David. I'm his biggest fan but also his biggest critic. He scored 4 Brill points from play and kicks the wi ming free but he missed a couple of easy chances in first half and has a habit of giving silly passes away. He gave a lineball away in first half and gave away a silly ball just before half time too but we lucky to get away with it. Subs did OK when introduced. Overall conditions were poor so I'm happy enough to get the win. At least the pundits might stop this Kerry have a soft centr attitude. Onwards and upwards now. Ciarraí abu.

As a unit the defence have really performed - and this is with constant changes in personnel over the games this year. A strong positive and we look to be developing some depth in defence at last.
Jack Savage did little to advance his cause this evening but Tony Brosnan made the most of his start. Dara had one of his better performances and the Paudie Clifford free was nearly very costly. Was unhappy to see Shane Murphy so far out of his goal at times and felt we played too much ball inside our own 21 - both of these are high risk as a turnover could be very costly.
Midfield remains a concern and I thought Jack Barry struggled for pace when he was tracking back on a couple of occasions.
Overall a great workout and we even got the bonus of the 2 points.

As a few have said, good to see us win a close hard fought game. I feared at half time with the gap being so close and mayo getting in for goal 3 times against the wind. But our defending was tenacious second half! Although tom o sullivan got plenty of it in the 2nd half from o donoghue. Diarmuid o connor continues to impress me. Tony brosnan the star up front and thought Jason foley and morley did well at the back. Paudie will be a relieved man after that free! David will have better games, some bad misses and poor passing but still scored some massive points. I was baffled by some of the calls against us in the last 15 minutes but we held out and hopefully will stand to us. 1 more win from the last 2 and into a final so overall a good campaign so far.

Only in the door to find out the Donohue won motm. How did Jason Foley not get it. I thought he couldn't have done more.
A fantastic battling encounter. Really enjoyed that even football game, Good to get over the line.

Agree with above except would say Dara Moynihan did very well. Was hugely involved in several turnovers, several scores, scoring one himself and negated Mayos strong runners on his flank.

Yes Dara worked very hard and turned over the ball alot which was great to see. Showed aggression without fouling. There is going to be some battle at the back for places as everyone doing so well.

Really enjoyed that even football game, Good to get over the line. Because a biased Mayo man was selecting MOTM. He was quick to pour over and reject a Kerry free on Tony Brosnan but failed to see a crazy decision when the ref gave Mayo a free, post Hennelly retake, after Kerry perfectly executed a turnover without fouling on an isolated Mayo man. There are none so blind as those that will not see.

Thought Graham O'Sullivan was excellent. Very solid and has the physique for this level. Used the kick pass very well and always on the front foot. Would hope he gets another few opportunities at no.5. Begley and Foley impressive also. Dylan Casey had a fine game too. Loads of competition in defence.
Half forward line was fair, tonight showed how crucial Seanie is to this team.
Stephen O'Brien made a good impact.

The keeper situation is a huge worry. It will be interesting who they opt for in the final couple of games.
Felt Shane Ryan handled the 2 All Ireland finals very well in 2019 and would have expected him to push on as the No.1. I don't think Shane Murphys kickouts currently merit a starting position.

On the midfield issue. In fairness I think Mayo s midfield is as strong as they will come across. After 5 games for me though its the defenders that are catching the eye. Morley has been a tower of strength. Dan Ó Donoghue so solid. Tom Sull (although got it tough tonight) one of the vest around. O Beaglaoi White Paul Murphy and now Dylan Casey and Graham Ó Sullivan putting their hands up. Gavin Crowley also seems to be playing with great confidence but for me Kerry s player of the league so far is Jason Foley. I was often critical of him in the past but holy cow has he made me think again. He has been getting better with every game.

Dunno how it looked on the telly but the colour clash seemed quite pronounced in the flesh. Baffling that both teams changed colours and actually manufactured this situation. Was it responsible for one or two of the turnovers, I wonder - it's got to have impacted fellas' peripheral vision at least.

I think Kerrys midfield options will improve considerably with Joe and Moran. Joe got game time with his club this week in a challenge so isn't far off a run out for Kerry.
Tony Brosnan a huge plus and Dylan Casey too. Being eased in but both look the part.
Team tackling, workrate and discipline the most pleasing thing for me.

There are none so blind as those that will not see. Ref gave Mayo a few soft ones, I thought. Also gave the only card of the game to Tony Brosnan, and a free to Mayo, for what seemed a perfect shoulder and a likely turnover right at the end.

Great defensive display overall by Kerry, yet we could have conceded 2 goals. Midfield a bit dodgy . Handling errors, but conditions shocking. My big worry is Kick out strategy. It beat us against Dublin in AIF and I hope we're not caught out again. Overall a great effort and team performance

I'm not going to go over too much indepth analysis of our first home league win over Mayo since 2009!! Great to win a tight game in the end, though I thought we won the match in possession really All of the posts have been superb in their analysis and much better than me. From my perspective, Mayo were lucky to be that close to us even in the end,we didn't kick on when we should have, they were reliant on a lot of frees by what seemed like a biased referee. Our goalkeeper's kickouts is going to cost us yet. Eventhough when he kicks long, he's the best I've seen outside of Rory Beggan of Monaghan regarding distance. Midfield is a bigger problem, if you know that you can't win midfield, at least compete, by having a strategy of winning potential breaking and dirty ball with grounders. Overall, I'm very happy with our boys. Dara Moynihsn was instrumental in setting us on our way with vital disposes, kick passing catching the Mayo backing on the counter as they had pushed up. Huge Mayo following there tonight, the pitch held up superbly well. I did feel overall tonight, tgat both teams were not playing in full throttle, too much possession type handpassing, that is usually a symptom of shadow boxing, an impending duel again between both sides in a final? It was contrived at times I felt. Not as positive a style of play we're accustomed to in Kerry v Mayo matches, thats just a hunch I got from tonight. Does it ever stop raining for Kerry home football matches, but seems to be slways sunny for our Kerry home hurling matches. Had to laugh in the end, the pitch invasion by all of the Kerry youngsters before the referee blew his whistle, it was novel and funny to look at. Kevin McLoughlin at number 22 for Mayo threw his hands up perplexed, as if to lip read, " WTF! Is going on here?" as the youngsters invaded the pitch. A very rare sight. Referree was not one bit impressed leaving the pitch down under the stand tunnel.

Good win in tough conditions against a strong and up for it Mayo. Poor kick outs by Murphy. The short one that cost a point in the first half seemed to give him the jitters with going short after that. Foley and Graham O'Sullivan were the pick of the backs. Tom O'Sullivan will learn from a hard evening....I'm sure he has learnt a lot in case he's on O'Donoghue again this year. Midfield did alright. It'll be good to see a couple of new faces tried out there in the coming weeks. Dara works like a trooper. He has come on leaps and bounds since last year. I actually thought that Jack Savage had a very good 1st half. I'm not his greatest fan, and have regularly criticised his indiscipline, but he was greatly improved in that regard tonight. Brosnan was a huge threat every time that the ball came near him. Hopefully he'll get a start again next week. All in all, a good evenings work.

Agree on the colour of jerseys. Anytime Kerry and Mayo met in finals both wear their tradional colours same as Kerry and Donegal in 14 final. Agree our kickout strategy a worry and sometimes overpaying ball at the back. If Keeper is not sure of his kickout then lick as far as possible. Moran will offer alot with that problem but he not a full game man anymore.
