If we could spare him I would play Murphy at center forward and move Sean O'Shea to full forward. Let him play out around the fringes of the D as far as the 45. He can kick a score but, he is too far back in the play a lot of the time. I have seen him a lot with UCC this year and his best scoring games were when he didnt go as deep and was available on the loop. Clifford in one corner and SOB in the other if JOD isnt fit. Half forward line of DOC Murphy and Moynihan. Moynihan and Murphy to break everything and scrap on the ground for it. It wont happen though. Who is the captain on Saturday? Gavin white if he plays? That front three of Clifford, O’Brien and O’Shea is what I was getting at above, with O’Shea a bit deeper than the other two. I think that could work. I’m not sure about having Murphy and Moynihan both in the half forwards I think it would make us a bit vulnerable on opposition restarts as neither are big men. Adrian Spillane might be a better fit there, centre forward is essentially a third midfielder role anyway the way Kerry have been setting up. That's the thing our weakness at mf means I Shea is playing as the thrid midfielder with mod effectively playing as a link man at the top of the d. 8 think o Shea would be amazing at that role tbh great passer and already has a great understanding with Clifford. I'd go with the below. With o brien and Moynihan as wing forwards doc as cf/mf and o Shea as the link man on the d with instruction to stay available ie in attack at all times with the half forwards given responsibility of picking up his man where possible. O brien doc(3rd mf) Moynihan/an other O Shea Clifford geaney

Anyone recommend a good Kerry bar in Queens New York to watch the game on Saturday? Deise. Exile not sure there is a Kerry or Cork bar any more in Woodside Sunnyside or Maspeth The Halfway line in Woodside seem to make a big effort they fly the county flags on the sidewalk when depending on who s playing , I’m hoping to stay home and watch on Gaa Go and am expecting the trend of so called “contenders “ to continue to fall at the first fence . Just lime Mayo Tyrone and Galway I see us joining this club but all will be the better for it as We can all do some re calibrating and only come back stronger than before Going to be a good year yet .

Strong bench too and Luke Connolly will be a driven man when he enters the fray. Being ambushed is NOT an excuse now for Kerry. Years of experience of this fixture has taught us to expect the unexpected from Cork. On the law of averages, Cork are well due a win in this fixture, and there are so many unknowns for Cork and for Kerry going into this match. For Kerry we are either good enough now or we're not and they'll be no excuses if beaten by this Cork team. Anyone who thinks this Cork team simply can't beat us hasn't been paying attention, there are no guarantees.

That cork full back line is there for the taking just like last year if we get any sort of decent ball into Clifford and geaney they will make hay. If cork get their gander up and start running at us like the first 20 mins last year it could be interesting I still think we will bea5 them handy enough kerry by 6

You see cork winning AND kerry having a good year it's 2019 not 2009! I’m not seeing how we can win this or any other either with a 3 ,6,8,9 unproven at this level being realistic. Regards having a good year I was puzzled to see the poor line out against Clare apparently not addressing some glaring inadequacies in key areas Just wondering when the shake up will happen my thinking is a loss to Cork might help us wake up and sort out some of our areas where we surely can find better in a county apparently full of footballing talent . My reference to Mayo Galway and Tyrone is that we could be in the same boat Saturday night but just like Them too we will probably come back stronger as a result .

I get your point to an extent but how many of the cork team are proven at this level ? Also if Moran isn't a proven Intercounty midfielder I don't know who is besides Fenton. If we lose to cork we have potential showdown v Tyrone, monaghan or mayo and then next up is dubs in croke park our season could be over before it starts.

I am sorry now but this is off the wall stuff. These young lads are more than capable and we were in the same boat last year and walloped Cork. Cork were relegated to division 3 when Kerry made a division 1 final and in most opinions are a top 4 side.

So if we beat Cork on Saturday we can look forward to a Super 8 game in Killarney on the weekend of July 14th against Galway or the team that beats them in the qualifiers. Should we lose then we play a qualifier game and then would face almost certainly Dublin in Croke Park that weekend.

We should be winning this quite comfortably. There are too many holes in that Cork back line, if we cant get change there we needn't bother with Super 8's. I like the look of the Cork half forward line, however, if we get a 20 minute spell that should be enough to see us build up enough of a lead to see us through to the super 8's. The prize is a huge one, a home game v Galway/qualifier in Killarney. That should be motivation enough for this team. It would be a disaster for kerry to lose on Saturday, make no mistake about it. It will be interesting to see the team selection, someone told me today that David Shaw will be starting on Saturday, I'd be fairly surprised if he does but it might be no harm to give more youth it's championship fling. It should be competitive and ferocious for 50-55minutes on saturday but Kerry's greater class and invaluable experience of having played division 1 football should see us through by 4/5 points. Safe travel to all on Saturday. Ciarraí Abú!

David Shaw would a surprise selection. As far as I can recall he was not on the panel for the Clare game. Presumably it would be for the injured JO’D.
If David is selected and Gavin White is not , would that mean we would have the crazy situation of David being captain on his debut?

Shaw is playing well by all accounts - featured in the recent challenge game vs Galway - has pace & an eye for goal - would be a surprise though if he was to start but you never know! Plenty of rumours that there will be 2/3 changes to Corks proposed starting XV - mind games aplenty!

If cork are as bad as last year there will be no point reading anything into the perfeocnace on Saturday.Shaw could light it up but, we would still have no idea how good he is until the Super 8's. Geaney scored 2-5 last year against cork and was very poor in the Super 8's. Unless we lose on Saturday we will not have a clue what we are like until the white heat comes on in Croker. If we get a handy home game against a poor team that makes it thru the qualifiers a la Roscommon or Kildare last year we could meet our first real test in Croke park or away ( not sure which comes first) and have only a week to save our season.

I could see Shaw @ 15 if Jack Barry is not match fit which has to be a possibility; Diarmuid O’Connor would offer more at midfield than either Spillane or Griffin, with Stephen O’Brien @ 12 - not sure on the captaincy but Gavin White must be a certain starter unless injured.

Kerry must stop Dublin this year.
The Five in a Row can not stand.
I don't care if they're not ready yet they have to be.

If we lose on Saturday we would have an opportunity to make the other group, alongside Cavan / qualifier, Roscommon and Dublin. I don’t think it will come to that but if it does that’s a group we can qualify from. Then again, if we can’t beat cork you’d wonder.
David Shaw would be a surprise selection and probably more likely to make the panel rather than be parachuted straight in to the lineup if he is indeed to be involved. I have high hopes for this young man, he and Clifford could make a formidable front two in the future.
