Any dates for these games . Interestingly the east kerry championship started this weekend, maybe a few more divisional boards could take a leaf out of their book

Interestingly the east kerry championship started this weekend, maybe a few more divisional boards could take a leaf out of their book Hard to see how that can progress with Crokes, legion and East Kerry (7 teams I think) guaranteed at least 2 more games in the county championship. Rathmore and the 3 teams in with st kierans have at least 1 more game.

Tarbert 1-15 Ballylongford 1-15 HT 1-8 0-9 A.E.T 1-21 1-17
This was a hugely entertaining match which was impartially if fussily refereed. A refreshing highlight of the contest was some excellent , long range point scoring by both sides. It would also be remiss of me not to comment on the condition of the playing surface. It was immaculate.
I imagine that Tarbert would have been fancied to win this and win it they did eventually but Ballylongford made them earn their keep. Tarbert played with the strong wind in the first half and through the forceful play of midfielders , Mark Buckley and Shea McDonnell, they had Ballylongford under pressure in the early stages and when Noel Kennedy goaled at the end of a fine movement it looked ominous for Bally. However the clever Joe McCarthy on the forty was posing a threat, he scored two from play, but it was the menace of corner forwards, Bryan Murphy( 0-4 from play) and Ciaran O'Connor, who posed most danger. Their point taking was of the firt rank. At the other end, Andrew Doherty (0-3 from play) and Ambrose Lanigan, made the Ballylongford backs aware that their afternoon could be very uncomfortable.
As the first half progressed it became increasingly apparent that Ballylongford were not just fulfilling a fixture. They had forged a one point lead with the aid of the wind. Then two things happened which seemed to copperfasten that impression. They won a free about fifty metres out. Dead eye Dick, Ciaran O'Connor, lined up to eassy a point no doubt. However, it went all the way to net. Of course a goal of that nature is always fortuitous. Nevertheless, it was appropriate that it fell to Ciaran. He scored six from play, three from frees and of course that goal. Sadly, in extra time he went off due to cramp. In view of his previous exploits his departure was hugely significant.
Shortly after Ciaran's goal, Tarbert struck back for a point and then the second incident to which I alluded occurred. While that point was being registered a skirmish broke out at the other end of the field which resulted in Tarbert's full back, Michael Heaphy, getting a red card. A goal up, playing with wind against fourteen men it surely was set up for a Ballylongford win. Not for the first time , we witnessed a ferocious resistance by a depleted team. It appeared that every Tarbert player was energised by the sending off and they now proceeded to play Ballylongford off the field. Dominant in practically every position they reeled off score after score without reply. Marshalled at the back by Danny Wren and an improving Shane Enright, driven forward by their midfielders and up front Andrew Doherty and Gerald O'Sullivan and especially Ambrose Lanoigan continued to be a nuisance. Ambsose at centre forward kicked four fine points from play. These heroic efforts meant that Tarbert had a two point lead as we approached the end. Inexplicably, Balllongford, with a lot of their players literally on their knees due to cramp, resurrected themselves to kick two points to tie it up. It was however the last kick of a dying hen.
Tarbert had their full complement for extra time during which they kicked six points to Ballylongford's two . Considering the circumstances , this must be one of the most satisfying wins Tarbert has ever had. It was an extraordinary display of heart and defiance and gives the promise of better things to come.

I suppose the North Kerry Board has no intention of switching the St. Senans/Listowel match from Sunday to Saturday to avoid a clash with the East Kerry/Dingle replay? I would like to see both.

Ah maybe too late but i'd gladly sign a petition on behalf of a Veteran of ur calivre, u alone wud hav well earned it but parts of NK board hardly inspire when it comes to the grassroots, bit of an idle talkin shop at the best of times, i found em poor show all the time they'd hav u kno they'd b above club faithful
