Holy Sh!te, 13,000 tickets for a stadium that holds 82,500. Thats less than 16%. Now I know with finals all the other counties the certain numbers of tickets but surely to God for a semi final the county board could have demanded more than 13,000. Do you honestly think that the Dublin Co Board are getting only 13,000 tickets? Like feck they are. If Kerry were playing Galway or Derry in a semi final and the county board said to Croke Park "We need 30,000 tickets", I could just see Croke Park biting Sean Walsh's hand off as he wrote the cheque! Is this another example of the Croke Park Authorities doing all in their power to see Dublin win an all ireland? Or is it the poor take up of tickets by Kerry fans for semi and quarter finals in the last few coming back to bite us in the ass? Somewhere, once upon a time, there was the breakdown of tickets for the All Ireland final. Believe it or not, it's not too different for the semi final. Put it this way, between the premium and box levels, there is over 10,000 tickets gone. That puts you down at 72,000. Give Dublin and Kerry 13,000 each and you're down to 46,000. Give Laois and Derry 4,000 each (semi final, not final) and you're down to 38,000. Sponsors, GAA central council, the kids who play at half time on the pitch etc - another 3,000 and you're down to 35,000. Now, that leaves you with approx 1,000 for each county board in the country. Do the other county boards get options on All Ireland semi final tickets? I think so, but am open to correction on this one. Will Dublin get more tickets, absolutely. Will they get more directly, yes, but not that many. Anyway, just a few figures to keep us thinking.

agreed kerryNorth, but a minimum of 15000 to 20000 tickets for competing all-ireland finalists would aleviate must problems at co.board level.

Staff: 1340 tickets.
I thought we were an amateur organisation!
I heard that each county was entitled to 300 tickets for semi finals. I think Willie O Connor said it on the Radio the other morning.
So ladies and gents, if Dublin get to the semi final next year we should bombard our own County Board and look to get our hands on one of the 300 tickets available.
What I am sure of though is that given the Dublin crowd is such a source of inspiration to the Dublin team (jesus they mention them enough in interviews) that the County Board will do all in their power to ensure that as many tickets as possible will fall into green and gold hands.

Loyalty scheme would be good idea. Dublin tried it a good few years ago. It went something along the lines of a coupon printed in the programme. You coold collect the coupons from your travels to carrick on shannon or wherever and then present them as proof of your loyalty.....the only problem was people were buying multiple programmes at the venues and distributing them to mates. They were almost taking it in turns to go to the away games. Didnt last long.
I am sure there could be a better option, but would the county board put in the effort to administer it

Loyalty scheme would cost too much to administer.
It would have to go along the lines of have a credit card type card, specific to each individual, that would be swiped at the entrance to each ground or if you bought a ticket through a club, your card updated by the club.
It'll never happen so theres no point going on about it. Just because you follow Kerry to the 4 corners of the country doesnt mean you cant also play an active role in your club, support your club though lotto draws, fundraisers etc which will entitle you to go into a draw for tickets for Kerry games.

In Sean Walsh's interview on Radio Kerry today he clearly indicated that they would try to look after anyone who goes to all the matches if they had trouble getting a ticket. He said they would have a fair idea of who goes to the matches and who doesnt, which makes sense. In fairness , I think this is usually the case . He did ask people to be patient though.

I think the introduction of a swipe-card at all turnstiles around the country should solve a lot of this problem. Tickets would then be allocated on a loyalty basis. Let's say you pick up 5 points for an inter-county or club championship game. But the points go up to 10 for a Junior B or a League game above in Ballybofey in the middle of March, thus giving 'supporters' that extra incentive to go to such games. I think Tommy or Mary who train the underage teams at home should automatically qualify for a ticket. But I sense that this could create more problems (especially with the amount of people involved at underage level). I think I may be on to something though...

I dont know the answer to that pony , but I would imagine that the couple of hundred faces that pop up at away league matches time and time again would be fairly recognisable . For the All Ireland last year , the county board looked after quite a few supporters who mailed in their ticket stubs. If I remember correctly there were one or two posters from this site who got them this way.

I got tickets before by just sending a cheque to HQ in Tralee and they sent them on to me in Dublin. On one occassion Tony O Keeffe gave me his home phone number and told me to call him when I arrived in Kerry so I could collect them off him (Munster Final). I had never met the man before. Obviously this wouldnt happen when you get to final stages as clubs get looked after first.
As for what Sean Walsh said, if I turned up at his office and said I was one of the people who goes to a load of the league games and all championship games he would look at me as if I had two heads. He couldnt know them. He may know a few of them alright.

Not a one. But this is standard procedure. No-one has one, but has been promised one, come the day they still dont have one but get one along the way and on top of that are asked if they want one if they dont have one. Its the Kerry way.
