The question here is how much commercial income does the gaa lose from cancelling the inter county season.
Professional sports are back as TV money compensates somewhat. That is less relevant for the GAA but still a factor

I guess it does as they are not discriminating between venues. I think I heard that with a 2 metre social distancing rule that they could get 7k in Croke Park. I think the 30k thing is a misunderstanding. If they planned for 82k to turn up and only 30k turned, they would break even. However if they know that only 20k will attend, they can scale back their costs eg less programmes, food, staff, security etc

However if they know that only 20k will attend, they can scale back their costs eg less programmes, food, staff, security etc so the trade off is losing TV money versus relatively costs of staging games. I expect they will do their best to have an intercounty championship. The likes of Kildare and Laois and Offaly may not be allowed enter if their status remains as it is.

Championship is still over 2.5 months away. A lot will happen between now and then and unfortunately similar outbreaks could happen in other countries.

It's not quite a fortune that we make but it is a significant revenue stream. It covers our Referee fees for the year. It also is a great money spinner for the under 16s who do the selling. The adults are not paid. We do the Cusack Stand side and O Tooles do the Hogan side

I asked the GAA to give my refund to the player injury fund which apparently goes via the GPA, but they will send it to them.

Given the current Covid-19 environment it might be a mad request, but has anyone heard of any plans regarding season tickets going forward.
