Munster Council officials are hoping to conduct a coin toss on Tuesday evening to determine a venue for the province’s senior football final between Kerry and Clare on May 5th.
The sides met at the Gaelic Grounds in last year’s Munster SFC decider, but that venue is not available for the fixture this season as the Great Limerick Run is taking place in the city on the same date.
As a result, Kerry and Clare will toss for home advantage – with the showdown to be fixed either for Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney or Cusack Park, Ennis.
The Munster Council is tonight launching the John Doyle Cup, which is to be presented to the province’s minor hurling winners annually, and the expectation is with representatives of Kerry and Clare in attendance that a coin toss can be arranged around that event.

Even though a large crowd wouldn't be expected, if it were to be in Killarney that weekend it would mean pandemonium in Killarney as it would clash with the rally of the lakes on the bank holiday weekend. Would make some weekend for Killarney but the place would be packed to the rafters.

Surely this is the opportunity to commence a home and away arrangement. It is win win for the economies of Killarney and Ennis.
Considering that the Clare supporters have to travel to Cork for the hurling next Sunday , Kerry should be magnanimous and give Ennis the initial game.

Clare have won the coin toss. Munster Final is in Ennis on Sunday May 5th @ 1.45pm. I think that's a good thing, Last year Clare were atrocious in Limerick and they'd surely want to put in a better performance this year. It'll stand to Kerry.

When Kerry next meet Clare outside of a Munster final, will that be in Ennis as well?

When Kerry next meet Clare outside of a Munster final, will that be in Ennis as well? I imagine so. It would be unfair otherwise. I'd prefer the neutral final be done away with. Clare are a tough nut to crack in Eniis, outside Ennis not so much.

It’s brilliant this game is fixed for Ennis. Look back at the last ten years with Clare in the championship, every time we’ve played them outside of Cusack Park, we’ve beaten them off the field and not learned much. 2014, 2017 and 2019 they ran us close and put up a good fight, next Sunday they’ll be up for it and it’ll be good prep for the group stages.

Hope we get a game aswell. Last year was pointless. The Munster hurling championship was always the main attraction in the other 5 counties but this new round robin format has turned it into a monster in terms of appeal. If the Munster football championship has any future atall, the people who own it (Munster Gaa) will have to find a way of bringing Kerry & Cork to places like Ennis, Thurles, Rathkeale, Dungarvan more often. There are football people in all these counties crying out for something to bring a football buzz to their home patch.

Great it is in Ennis, will surely bring out more Clare fans that wouldn't otherwise attend the game. 1st Munster Football Final in Ennis for over 100 years. I would imagine it wouldn't make much of a difference in the number of Kerry fans that would have attended if it would have been in Limerick. Will be a bit of a novelty event and it should make it a closer game than it would have been in another venue. Will be a new experience to Kerry players also and hopefully will stand to them.

Quick question lads,
Presuming we get over Clare we should be at home Sat the 18th of May.
Is there something else on that day in Killarney as there is very little accommodation showing online.
Have to plan ahead with kids etc!

Interesting that Cusack Park was acceptable to Munster GAA - with a capacity of 18,800 it risks being a sell out event. Suggest those intending to travel buy tickets as soon as they go on sale.
Limerick is unavailable due to Marathon, Half Marathon and 6 mile races taking place that morning - but most Kerry followers will have to get though Limerick to get to Ennis for a 1.45 start - hopefully the main roads are not impacted by the race traffic.
Feels like a tighter pitch than Fitzgerald stadium but Humphrey Kelleher gives the dimensions as being 2 mt longer and 5 mt wider than Killarney.
A full house would create some atmosphere.

If you go through the toll you will have no issue with traffic.

On the match itself do people think Morley to 3 was just a once off to counter the hurley/powter axis ie Morley would be as good a physical match up for hurley and white would match up speed wise with powter or will we see Morley at 3 again ?

Whatever about Morley at 3 Id def rather not have Gavin C.B.Morley was very good at fb in 2019.Hurley is a handful for any fb.Gavin is better suited to the wing I think.Ideally Id like Morley back cb.I think O Beaglaoi would do a fine job full back too.

If we beat Clare when would be the first round of the group stage in Killarney.
I had it put down as weekend of 25-26 May (when I've a bloody wedding to be at) but saw somebody on here say its the weekend before?

It would be the weekend 18th/19th. the 2nd match the 1st/2nd of June and the 3rd game the 15th/ 16th of June. I think Kerry can meet Derry, Monaghan ,Roscommon, loser of Donegal /Tyrone next Sunday in the first game in Killarney.

Round 1 is the weekend of May 18/19 for groups involving Munster and Connacht winners. The following weekend for the other 2 groups.
