Having watched Dublin last night and Kerry today its hard not to feel the year is already a forgone conclusion. March or not Kerry seem a few levels below Dublin. I've never been more pessimistic than I am now. Keep the faith.

Decent reaction yesterday by our lads but it took the row to really get them going! After that they kicked on.
Some great first phase scores off kickouts, Seánie and Paudie interchanged well and linked. If we can do that would be hard to defend against. David was in good form. Needs to not get involved in silly stuff. Adrian once he doesn’t overplay it is a valuable player for his work rate. Dara Moynihan played well and moved the ball forward a lot more than he was doing before. Conor Geaney didn’t go well unfortunately. I don’t think he was comfortable with the role he was being asked to play. In the Derry game when he came on as an inside forward he showed very well. Would like to see him get a start there.
Defence was better while still having room for improvement. Paul Murphy showed he’s still a step ahead of most others. Great to see Seán O’Brien doing well enough.
Midfield- much better from both of them. Diarmuid in particular. And Tyrone are decent around middle so that was a good test.
Roscommon game and Galway should see a bit more of panel lads starting or coming on hopefully. Seán O’Brien, Cillian Burke, Dylan Geaney, Stephen O’Brien, Paul Geaney, Okunbor, Begley could all certainly do with game time. We aren’t going to make league final so need to make use of the 2 games.

i think if we get a win v Roscommon, then Galway will see 9 or 10 changes - lads that have been injured will be put in. the team v Roscommon will be as close as possible to the championship starting 15. if i am right, i think its likely that we have no chance of getting to a league final even if we win our last 2 games as Derry and Dublin would still probably beat us on head to head. beat Roscommon hopefully and then thats our league finished essentially If more than 2 finish on the same points it goes to points difference. Kerry 17 behind Dublin and Derry in that regard. Would need to beat Roscommon and Galway by cricket scores.

Morale was so low after last week's demolition that any kind of a win would have sufficed against Tyrone. In fairness to the team they gave us more than any kind of a win, albeit against much inferior opponents. It doesn't erase the sour of taste of last weekend but it will suffice for the day. We started slowly, played smart , fast football for long stretches and finished sluggishly.
The schmozzle ignited them and ignited the crowd. Indeed, the crowd responded to the team's efforts and created an intense atmosphere for long periods. This was in stark contrast to the Mayo game when the crowd were muted because what they were witnessing left them numb. I have no idea why David initiated that melee. He had no business acting so militantly and was lucky not to have been carded. He subsequently picked up a yellow for an innocuous offence. Delayed reaction by a referee who is as poor today as the day he started his career. Do these fellows ever improve with age and experience as we always expect footballers to do. It was farcical watching his efforts at controlling and responding to the melee. He was like an old woman trying to shoo her hens into the fowl house from a marauding fox. Out to grass with you Mr. Coldrick.
The unsatisfactory areas, so glaring against the Dubs, were largely minimised . The key to addressing those areas was the increased work rate , combatively increased. This enabled us to get our kicks out away cleaner and in turn to pressurise the Tyrone kicks out. Another much improved area of course , so anaemic against Dublin, was our midfield. This was a significant achievement because Tyrone have a formidable set up there. Diarmuid seems to reserve his best displays for the Tyrone lads and he was outstanding yesterday. Some people leaving the Stadium yesterday were critical of Joe O'Connor, saying he did not get on enough of the ball. That may be true but he endeared himself to me because of his unapologetic desire for physical contact. We need more of that and in defence as well. Joe is not as flashy as Diarmuid but he has other qualities which may become manifest with more experience. Paddy Kavanagh used to play a bit of football as well as write. He used to disparagingly describe himself as a mullacker I will take the liberty of describing Joe, in a non pejorative fashion, as a mullacker. Perhaps, we may have found the ideal midfield combination of Mr. Flash and Mr. Mullacker. En passant, a mullacker or two would serve us well in the backline where we are, perhaps, over endowed with "footballers".
Looking after the kicks out and securing parity at midfield enabled us to attack with speed and smartness. In turn this facilitated us, when the opportunity arose, to kick some glorious long range points. The reality was that the margin of victory should have been greater at the end. It wasn't because of a slackening of work rate with coupled with a dollop of complacency. That is a worry.
I liked the fact that Shane Ryan kept the head up when embarking on his kicks out. He does not do that all the time thereby missing some runs by his backs. Worryingly, he made a hash of two high balls, getting an inconclusive fist to them. He is normally very secure in those situations.
Paul Murphy did well against Darragh Canavan in the corner apart from one misplaced pass. I have been critical of Gavin White because of a tendency to finish up non productively in a cul de sac. That wasn't in evidence yesterday. Apart from one clumsy tackle after the scuffle he was authoritative in everything he did. There never was a question about this man's ability, rather his ability to read which option is the optimal one in a particular situation.
Dara Moynihan is another player who attracts his share of criticism, not least from myself. Too often he runs about in a fruitless manner with little to show on the credit side of the ledger. Yesterday was different. We witnessed his usual energy but this time it was channeled in an intelligent fashion, tackling relentlessly with the head up to see what was on next. He even kicked a long range point with his left foot! More of the same Dara.
My main take away message from Killarney was our increased work rate . In sport , as in life, work hard and the rewards are likely to flow. Standing back and waiting for things to happen is a recipe adopted by losers.
Needless to say I must say a few words about David. None of those frees were easy but he struck them all immaculately. I had a good view of him in the first half, being more or less in his corner! A of ball came into him. Not once was he beaten for possession. Now, in the summer those balls would bounce in front of him but the surface yesterday was not allowing the ball to bounce with the result that he had to go down on his toes to collect. Still not one spilled. He is a prospect definitely.

You would expect dublin to beat both galway and tyrone judging by the form of all 3 leaving them on ten with the highest score difference. Probably joined by derry if they win against mayo or Rossies. Highly unlikely we will make a league final unless derry and mayo draw and derry rest a load versus roscommon leaving us and Dublin on ten and mayo and derry on 9. It could happen ! Be better off just concerning ourselves on performance and winning last two games whilst blooding a couple more lads if possible.

Did we ever look like scoring a goal at any stage? Seanie had a great chance after a pass from White. Dara Moynihan also turned over the corner back with Morgan out of his goal. The deflected ball was dropping into Paudie’s lap and all he had to do was commit Morgan and then square it to Seanie who was on his own in the middle, but alas he didn’t even catch it because he was already a move ahead in his brain I’d suspect.

Question: Is it time that David Coldrick moved on? I think so but then again you're always going to have a lot of inconsistent and poor referees. For me only David Gough, Sean Hurson, Conor Lane and Paddy Neilan I'd be comfortable enough with refereeing a big championship match involving Kerry come the summer You’re spot on

Good morale boosting win indeed. Just delighted for all involved they got a result in the aftermath of a tough week following the Croke Park debacle. Hopefully, the injuries clear up, and Kerry enjoy some better luck on that front for the remaining season. Perhaps we have done enough to survive in Div 1 and we should be able to wrap some fellas up in cotton wool. You'd want some size of a panel these days to mitigate against injuries in such a condensed playing season, and we need some fortune here. As was evidenced over the weekend Dublin’s ever growing playing pool is a big advantage on that front.

The game panned out very much as anticipated.
I thought Joe had a good game and continued the pattern of improvement he has shown since the start of the season. It is not so much his pace as his timing. He is only now getting a run of games at intercounty level. He will keep improving.
That goal at the end should never have gone in. A lot of players assisting in dealing with the situation but no one took individual responsibility.
The rules need to be changed regarding persistent fouling. In the second quarter (post melee) when Kerry were pulling away there was persistent fouling by Tyrone between midfield and the Kerry half-forward line. We badly need a rule like there is in rugby where continuous fouling results in the next one fouling going to the sin bin.
I said this earlier this year and it showed again yesterday, Kerry are playing with more freedom, going forward more and finding each other better. I hope this continues into the championship.

Still not one spilled. He is a prospect definitely. Couldn't agree more with Goldrick, he is an incredibly poor ref. Hard pushed to find good refs really? Hurson is decent I suppose, Conor Lane not bad. The rest?? How are we still having to settle for Golrdicks, McQuillans of this world reffing games. Were terrible when young and even worse now they can't keep up with the play. I have watched back our early chance 5 or 6 times now and cant fathom what the free out was for?? Square ball against Gavin? :S He also pulled back after originally giving advantage too soon 4 or 5 times when we had broken their line. Yellow card for a fair shoulder in first half! Countless baffling free calls. Anyway, enough about Goldrick and on to the performance. Much improved but that wouldn't be hard. Still have concerns with our mobility around the middle. Think better teams, and even a more in-tune Tyrone, will have joy against us. But we were better. Paul Murphy showed why he is still preferred in to his 30s. David, while lucky not to be sent off, put on a sublime kicking and "showing" performance. Was out for everything, Hampsey be having nightmares. Still have concerns that won't go away. You mentioned Dara kicking that point, which was lovely, why he doesnt do more of it? Instruction maybe. More about instruction, Paudie kicking two shocking balls in from the corner flag that resulted in 1-01. Again, the system dictates that type of pass rather than the player. If we are going to give it away, why not put in to the mixer around the square when boxed in to the corner? I actually think we are still too slow getting our kick outs off and this year, i have noticed that Murphy's kicks being more tame or tepid. Not the conviction you would see from his peers. 6 points now must mean we are most likely safe, question now is going for a league final mean we will see less of fringe players and Jack will do what he always does and goes back to his tried and tested? Some lads shouldn't see more time as they are just short at this level unfortuntaely, but others are given the push so would love to see them given a crack and give more established players a rest.

Interestingly the league is kinda going exactly as we would have wanted in advance. We are at 6 points, more or less safe in Division 1, with 2 games still to go, and we've seen lots of players given a try. Joe O'Connor and Diarmuid O'Connor are developing into quite a good midfield combination, having played against some of the best so far like Kilpatrick, Kennedy, Glass, Rogers, Fenton and Ó Cofaigh Byrne. In this league we've seen game time for Damien Bourke, Dylan Geaney, Cillian Burke, Tony Brosnan, Keith Evans, Barry ‘Dan’ O’Sullivan, Sean O’Brien, Darragh Roche, Conor Geaney, Ronan Buckley, Stefan Okunbar and Dylan Casey. As well as the more established players. Of those I think most will see some game time during the championship, or at least I hope so. Personally, I'm hoping to see some game time in the league for Armin Heinrich, Paul Geaney, Paudie O'Leary, Sean Coffey, Joey Nagle, Mike Breen and perhaps some others I might have missed. With 6 points assured and Roscommon not in the best form might the bench feature more fringe players? I would like to see more of Okunbor in midield and Sean O'Brien. Okunbor came on late against Tyrone, but was solid enough. Didn't really weaken the team, though he did not see enough of the ball to make an impact either. He kept Darragh Canavan busy though, which is not an easy task. Likewise, we need a few more defenders, as well as midfield options and I thought Nagle did well in the McGrath cup. Given how performed in the minors the last few years I had hoped we would see more players putting their hand up and seriously challenge for spots on the senior team. Today is exactly 4 years since we bate Cork in the U20 Munster final, but we need a few of those players in the team by now. It's well documented how Dublin have probably 40 excellent players who all are familiar with the system, and can kind of seamlessly be introduced into the team from the O'Byrne Cup or League teams into the championship team. They introduce a few new players every year in pre-season competitions and the league and while they are no doubt good footballers, it also helps that all of them are familiar with the system. While Fenton, Kilkenny and Con are all excellent players it is clear with retirements and players taking a year out that you can kinda take any 50 players from Dublin and have them play in the championship. Meanwhile, we seem to be a team of 6, 7 exceptional players and a few passengers. We should have enough talent in the county to introduce more players each year. Looking at the 2020 U20 Munster final I'm hoping we see some more players introduced in the next 2 games. Attachments:

Ref had worst game and analysts here playing a blinder - Kerry somewhere in the middle though Tyrone are better that some are giving them credit for. It was a pacey affair and the dead ground had all 30 tire towards 70, hence the bit of luck for the goal.
David's patience has been tested as he is subjected to ridiculous stuff, as all greats are - it would be sad if opponents played on what he has been through and I hope that is not the case?
Not being optimistic for the sake of it but after yesterday I believe we have enough to build on to close the gap while also being mindful that others will improve too. It might also be the case that like the kick up behind we got yesterday, we might play more with abandon.
Ah Vets report and indeed a few others are class for the entertainment value alone - I feel a bit like the buck who didn't know how the match he saw went until he read Houlihan's account! Maybe it will inspire of the era when the fireman returned to the fire station to find it on fire - does anyone get the smell of burning buns?

I do think there was a big deal about improving the work rate which seanie might have took to heart and made a point on working around the place. I think Lally must have been coaching alot during the week, a bit of kneejerk reaction to Dublin game.

Meyler a big loss Funny I think they do have the players but look devoid of ideas. Morgan, Hampsey, Harte, Kilpatrick, Canavans, McCurry, Meyler. They are under performing and haven't performed since they pulled that stunt in 2022. Karma. Don't be supprised to see Malachy O Rourke in there next year.

We must have the most negative fanbase in Ireland, writing off the year in March, despite winning 3 games, losing 1 by a point and still 2 winnable games left.
The mind boggles sometimes, it really does.

I don't care about the league points but the psychological impact is more of a concern on top of last year's final.

the margins in the Dublin game were very very fine. we missed 4 or 5 goal chances. Seanie was fouled in front of the hill, ref gave a free out, seconds later they scored a goal.
David has a goal chance to reduce the game to 1 point, it goes over. they go down the pitch and score 1-1 and tap over the last few points.
with 10 mins to go in that game, kerry had come from 10 points down to 2 and then made a heap of changes. i wouldnt be worried about that game, at all.
people need to relax as a negative fan base, can eventually impact the players.

I agree 100%. I thought what was posted last week was the worst for a long long, time. We even got a list of David's limitations only to have another post claiming that they had enlightened the world about these limitations long before that. And of course anyone who knows football would have known it was a once off. The same people are mesmerised by Dublin yet Dublin were beaten, at home, by Monaghan who are almost certain to be relegated.

Lads,
Where do you see Kerry at present ?
Based on current form it's hard to argue that they are not 3rd.
I travel the length and breath of the country and every game is an away game for me so I feel its fair enough to express my opinion.
I hope to god i am wrong and there's a big master plan behind being hammered by out closest rivals.
This is a fan fourm not a cheerleaders page.
TG4 basically put our collective feelings to Paudi and Diarmuid after the game on Sunday and they were well able to answer it.
Hope they keep proving the doubters wrong.

define being proven right/wrong? losing an all ireland final or semi to Dublin after bring level in 4th min of injury time and missing 7 or 8 late chances to be ahead?
a cheerleader page? ffs, critic a players performance in a game all you like, slag off the manager, give your opinion but its tiresome here how much people throw their toys out of the pram at completely mental levels when we dont win a game.
some of the stuff i read here, seen in person or listened to elsewhere is up there with the worst ive ever seen.
performances in Feb dont lose you an all ireland. but a fan base acting the maggot, certainly can.
