The referee gave two frees to Kildare near the end, both of which led to scores and together brought the lead back to four points. The first is at 1:15:48 on the video, the second at 1:17:03. I've watched it several times now and I can't for the life of me see what they were for. Can anyone hazard a guess? One of the frees was when our goalkeeper took a short kick out and the defender passed it back to the goalie which you’re not allowed to do. The other one, if I’m thinking of the correct one, was when one of our backs broke a high ball and then fell on the ball. I think the free was given for handling the ball on the ground. I think the ref was right on both occasions.

Kerry were the better team. We were dominant in possession and more threatening going forward. Kildare rarely opened us up (apart from a very good goal!!). This team is showing a lot of promise.

Sorry, I was thinking of a different incident. I think the first one must’ve been given for over holding and the 2nd incident was the pass back to the keeper. First one was a bit harsh alright.

Where is that likely to be played, was impressed with Nolan Park today, nice spot. I suppose O'Moore park is a likely venue ya or I wonder will this be a double header with Derry and Dublin?

Evan Boyle switched the ball from one hand to the other. Not a rulebook expert but that was not allowed in my day.

This team is getting better with every outing. Some superb performances yesterday. Boyle, Murphy, Evans and Paddy Lane the stand out players. Keeper smacked a couple of lovely frees too. A bit casual and sloppy with some of the passing towards the end maybe; need to learn that it ain't over till it's over. Still, they seem to have that crucial ability to get scores when they're needed. Plenty to improve on, as always but improving they are. Certainly been the bright light in an iffy year so far for Kerry fans.
Shout out too for Joey Cunningham of Kildare - outstanding yesterday.

I know we have all had our gripes with refs at club and county level but I think the standard across the board this year is dreadful.

Monaghan look like a step up from cork and kildare… no doubt our lads are able for the task ahead. Need more from our forwards other then Lane though I think .

Group A is a very tough group, the top 3 contenders for this years Minor honours are in this group. Hard to call really but based on size of district teams could prove difficult for Paddy Lane and his teammates getting past East and Mid Kerry
My predictions for the cup are Mid Kerry and East kerry Laune Rangers and North Kerry St Brendans and St Kierans East Kerry to win
Shield Stacks to win

4 of the top 5 teams in Group A. West Kerry are very strong this year. Outside of these 4 it's North ky to slide through handy..How did they get 4 of the top 5 teams in the same group?

They may as well leave North Kerry the cup and not bother playing this year's championship from what I can see. The 4 teams most likely to have any chance of beating the North all end up in the same group!!! You couldn't make it up.

Everyone seems to be putting Mid Kerry in as one of the top teams this year! They won the under 15 District championship 2 years ago, but that was with most of their starters being from Laune Rangers. Rangers are on their own in the championship, so neither of them will challenge for honours. It looks like Austin Stacks or North Kerry for me, with North Kerry getting the nod.

You're not allowed to switch directly from one hand to the other by throwing it but you are allowed go from one hand to two hands to the other which is what I think Boyle did but he did it so fast that the ref didn't see the two hand part. D Clifford does same thing here...

That one from DC is grand. for Evan there was a bit of overcarrying about it as well. a bit of the 2 turns (you would hear that shouted at games, is it an offence though?) and if not more than 4 steps then arguably holding on for longer that it would normally take for 4 steps which i think is an actual rule. Looks like the ref did give it for switching hands given the time he went for the whistle and maybe he saw a bit of daylight when the ball was moved from one hand to the other. Could argue it both ways so i'm giving the ref a pass on it as he had the best view.

I take it Kirby comes straight back in, although, Ben Murphy gave another sterling performance scoring 1-02. Still both have to be accommodated.
I would take it that Pa Walsh will make way. Hard to make a case for any other changes, both wing forwards and their respective replacements from NK are 50/50, being honest, I would be inclined to leave as is with only Kirby coming in.
