After the disastrous result vs Mayo. Kerry are at risk of being pulled into a relegation battle if they don't get their act together. Vital to win our remaining 2 home league games starting with Armagh on Saturday night. I imagine SOS and DC will be included from the start. Jack said Adrian will also be back after missing Mayo due to work commitments and his physicality was missed vs Mayo. I think Geaney and White have also returned to training but I think it might be too soon to see them have any action. I would like to think Shane Ryan will return also for this game given it's importance, also would like to see Okunbor partner Jack Barry in midfield s Armagh and maybe Barry Dan be tried at 14. Both had a good impact when that switch was done vs Mayo. Would be interesting to see if Jack would be willing to give it a chance like he did with Donaghy in 2006. Maybe it's too important a game to trial something but Forker isn't the biggest Full Back for Armagh so it might be worth lamping a few high balls into him. One things for sure, Kerry can't afford to lose this game.
Team I'd like to see Kerry play vs Armagh
1) S.Ryan 2) G.O'Sullivan 3) J.Foley 4) D.Casey 5) P.Murphy 6) T.Morley 7) T.O'Sullivan 8) S.Okunbor 9) J.Barry 10) P.Clifford 11) S.O'Shea 12) A.Spillane 13) D.Clifford 14) B.O'Sullivan 15) D.Roche

1. Shane ryan 2.Jason Foley 3.Dylan Casey 4.Graham O Sullivan 5.Tom O Sullivan 6.Tadgh Morely 7.Paul Murphy 8.Mark Ryan(unlikely but I’d like to see him)9.Jack Barry 10.Dara Moynihan 11.Seanie Shea 12.Adrian Spillane 13.Donal Down 14.David Clifford 15.Paudie Clifford
I think Donal down should be given another go I thought it was quite harsh taking him off
Darragh roche has being good but I’d give donal another run and If not preforming bring on roche then .
Thought Dylan Casey did excellent on Aidan o shea
Dylan will more then likely be full back if he plays as Rian o neill will be picked up by Jason the next day as he’s corner
I think if Stefan is to play we need to start he needs a full 70 minutes at midfield to show his full worth not the last 15 minutes of a game I’d love to see the Rathmore man mark Ryan play but he seems to be below Okunbor on the pecking orders

There will be no experimenting against Armagh, so it will be our strongest team, that will pick itself in training, I don’t see either stefan or Donal down being on the starting 15, with a few others, coming on be the better option for them both, when the game opens up.

Possibly right, I do think Barry Dan would be worth a try at some stage at 14 but I wouldn't blame Jack for going with as much a tried and trusted team available to him Saturday evening. With 2 losses out of 3 and only 4 games left kn the league, the priority now turns to points rather than blooding new players.

Can someone here enlighten me as to why Tony Brosnan and Micheal Burns are continuously been tried over and over. No disrespect to the two lads as I’m sure they train very hard and put in a lot of commitment but sorry there not good enough for inter county football.

The usual etiquette would be to say "some players" rather than naming specific players for such criticism.

I'd expect 5, if not 6 changes for this.
Jack will now know that a defeat here and our division 1 status is under pressure.

Barry Dan full forward has a bit of the 'try Tommy Walsh full back' about it. I doubt he's in the top 50 forwards in the county realistically. Let him work away in his proper position as that's the place he has any chance of making an impact on come Championship time.

Fully agreed, he is not going to be a game changer for us there and I actually thought he showed well against Mayo. Jack Barry was anonymous for the most part. Time to get games into the likes of Okunbar and Mark Ryan. Donal Down should be left in the team the next day and hopefully Casey might get a go in defence as well.

I think we need to step back and take stock a bit, ah the league is not exactly a priority but in saying that every squad, even an all ireland winning side need to evolve and bring in fresh legs on a continuous basis to stay ahead of the chasing posse.
Some panel members are stagnant and pleateau'd in their inter county capabilities. If certain players are not to a certain standard or the standard required, are not going to push for a starting berth, then is there a point in retaining?
For me, the real push commences from here on in, home points are imperative to stem off any hint of a relegation battle. The worrying fact for me is Donegal are odds on to go down, however, they have us on a head to head.
Anyway back to Saturday night, we have to increase the intensity and reintroduce stablished players to the starting XV. For me: Shane Ryan, Dylan Casey, Jason Foley, Tom O'Sullivan, Graham O'Sullivan, Tadgh Morley, Paul Murphy, Jack Barry, Adrian Spillane, Ronan Buckley, Seanie Shea, Dara Moynihan, David Clifford, Donal O'Sullivan and Paudie Clifford.

Interesting choice at wing back CiarraíMick, what is the reasoning behind the Na Gaeil man on the wing.
To pose a different question, any update on O'Beagleoich, White, Diarmuid, O'Brien and Geaney?

I know Barry Dan has been impressive at stages and I admit I'm being critical here but he and Jack Barry can be immobile and to a degree are too similar, midfiejd for me is a yin/yan scenario, they must both compliment each other, where one is weak the other is strong etc.
Someone like Breen could be a fit for midfield similar to the Shane Ryan/Ciaran Whelan axis of the old Dublin team, the high fielding over fix foot day is gone, a baller with covering ability and an eye for the pass is the more functional option.
May be worth considering in Diarmuid's absence.
Okunbor, Barry Dan etc are both immobile, Mark Ryan or Buvkley have more pace and zip about them.
The window for experimenting is closing... there won't be many opportunities from here on in. .

I think it's a bit mad as you wouldn't be near any intercounty team if you were immobile.
The issue as I see it is Jack Barry is a supporting midfielder and not the dominant one. He's playing beside a rookie so it's a mismatch.
It's the number 1 issue to resolve.
Don't be supprised to see Seanie in there and Paidi to 11.

No disrespect to Shane Murphy, but our kickouts were horrendous and the two Mayo goals should have been saved. On the other hand we need an effective back up for Shane Ryan. I'm assuming that Jack will continue the experiment, but with the bench well stacked again. One thing was obvious against Mayo, Jack wasn't too worried about the first half, otherwise he would have brought on the subs during the first half. Darragh Roche looked injured from the throw in, Donal and Brosnan left their radars at home. I'm assuming that is because some heavy legs, a lot of training will have been done in the last few weeks, with more specific training coming up. I just watched the Mayo game again and 3 scores out of 13 shots says it all. Kerry actually started quite well with some excellent kick passing. Players were not taking the mark though, unlike Mayo players, so that hints at them trying things out. Personally, I think that if we can get a few players up to championship level it will be worth it. Strangely enough, if we win the next games we'd still likely to be in the league final. Lose one more game and we're in a relegation battle, lose two and we'd be in big trouble.

While I agree with your post in general, the first statement regarding kickouts is completely false, Kerry won 14/15 of their kick outs in the first half and 9/9 in the second.

Just like Cluxton was hugely instrumental in the way Dublin played, I believe Ryan is as well. He is a much better keeper than Murphy, and that doesn't mean that Murphy is a bad keeper. I expect that jack wants to develop him more and more and make him a serious option to Ryan, but we need some improvements soon. I'm expecting Jack to again field a similar team, but perhaps Casey instead of Warren and Okunbor in the middle. If Darragh Roche is still injured perhaps Geaney (Dylan or Paul) will be given a start or Ruari Murphy. I don't think he will start with the Cliffords and Sean O'Shea, but depending on how we do they will come on. He wants to win every game, that much is clear, but also wants to be a better team by the start of the championship. Cork has improved massively and should have beaten Dublin. They are not hiding in the long grass anym ore, they are proudly waving the red flags challenging the Kingdom.

Hard to understand the stats sometimes, a game we were wiped out in MF , more so by the fact that mayo waltzed up the middle time after time under no pressure, and in fairness ruane and flynn when he moved out were the dominant MF on show.
JB seems off the pace at the moment, but he will come good, prob need more legs out there with him and that’s Spillane for me, we do loose barry Dan aerial threat, but covering ground a bigger challenge for me.
Saturday night, Ryan Same backs but Casey instead of warren JB AS DM SOS RB DC PC DR

You stated the kickouts were horrendous, would you have preferred going long to a non existent midfield and loosing them? Having to go short is hardly the fault of the GK. Kerry won 4/20 of the Mayo kickouts. I don't think any GK will ever be as influential as Cluxton. I agree Kerrys best option is Ryan but I don't understand your measure of horrendous kick outs.

I'm not confident to be honest when I see Murphy kick, he doesn't have the accuracy of Ryan, and that means that the short kick outs are won by Kerry, but had Mayo been putting pressure on our kickouts the backs would have found it a lot harder to win the kickouts. Would it make sense to go long? Nope, we tried that against Monaghan in the first half and put the midfield under a lot of pressure. Without Diarmuid O'Connor or Adrian Spillane going long wouldn't make sense. Though it looked a few times against Mayo like Okunbor might be the answer to that. Though there are other issues with Okunbor, as he's not the most natural footballer. All that said though, it is great to see we are having issues, as it is better to identify them now and iron them out.

Scared yet?? I’m not sure what to make of either team ahead of Saturday night. We won in Tralee back in 2012. Are we capable of doing it again? I think we are, although our recent form is worrying. Are we capable of going down and getting a similar beating that Monaghan got? Most certainly. So, I don’t know. Maybe if David Clifford forgets his boots, we might come away with something. Can’t make it down this time, but hopefully we’ll see an entertaining game.

With reference to the Mayo game, the kickout strategy is put in place by the management, and our retention return on the short kickout was very high. Unfortunately for us,the short kickout allowed Mayo plenty of time to set up a blanket defence, meaning our forwards had little room to operate. Attacking a packed defence is very energy sapping, and players had little energy to get back to help the defence when turned over. With these two teams at very different fitness levels, I wouldn't be too worried going forward.

Armagh’s 2 midfielders against Roscommon were Stefan Campbell and Ciaran Mackin. Campbell is a half forward playing midfield while Mackin is a very mobile player but small for a midfielder. I wonder will the Armagh pairing’s qualities influence Jack’s selection at midfield. If we stick with the current midfield pairing we could get a lot of joy from long kickouts but Armagh’s pair could have a big influence in general play. Selecting Adrian Spillane or Ronan Buckley at midfield would be matching what Armagh have. It’ll be an interesting one.
