The Munster council gave them 3mill+ for PUC on the proviso that it would be available to use and that they could make their money back.
Cork have fecked this with the Ed Shearan concert and the Munster council are essentially saying that we’ll get our money either way as we bailed you lads out and attendances have been down for 2 years due to covid. If the Munster council give in to this nonsense then every other Munster team foots the bill for it.
Yet another instance of cork playing the victim when it was their monumental f*ck up regarding the redevelopment of PUC that got them there.

Fair play to Botty O'Callaghan, erstwhile town councillor & GAA aficionado. His effort at the béal bocht on Radio Kerry Sports news this lunchtime about the change of venue had me in stitches. He as good as said we don't want a Saturday night game, we would prefer a Sunday game when people would go drinking for the full day. Why do Radio Kerry keep giving him air time. He seems to be the tourist, covid and GAA correspondent for Kerry Today

Cork players refusing to play anywhere other than PUR. Absolutely embarrassing. Match can be played in PUC & put Ed Sheeran on at half time!

Brilliant solution greengold35. A role in the diplomatic corp awaits! Its stunning but totally credible that Cork could make a statement like "The decision to take the game to Killarney is driven by the financial benefits resulting from a larger crowd. We feel this reasoning sets a bad precedent, it is wrong and it goes against the values of the Gaelic Athletic Association." while PuC unavailability 'is driven by the financial benefits resulting from a larger crowd' As Annuscaultilidie says "hello Pot, this is kettle". Any chance they'd transfer Ed to PuR and let the game go ahead in PuC? Kerry need to stay out of it anyway...we'll play them anywhere, anytime etc....not our mess to sort out. A mess entirely of Corks making.....

On my way into the pitch at Newbridge a few weeks ago I spotted a mural on the wall of a house with the Newbridge or Nowhere slogan on it and a painting of a Kildare player. I wonder will we see a similar mural on the Boreenmanna Rd come summer time.

So who is going to blink?
Looks to me like the Cork football camp are prepared to forfeit the game.
After much hand wringing i can see the Munster Council caving in.

Páirc Uí Caoimh is a top stadium done up so it can host gá games but because of a concert both the hurlers and footballers can't play there meaning it probably won't host one championship game there this year. This is wrong. Gaa games should come before concerts and money. Cork say it needs to be paid for. Yeah for more concerts is it? I agree with Joxer though that Kerry should stay out of this but Cork are wrong here imo.

Hello pot, this is kettle: "The decision to take the game to Killarney is driven by the financial benefits resulting from a larger crowd. We feel this reasoning sets a bad precedent, it is wrong and it goes against the values of the Gaelic Athletic Association." Let's face it. Having large crowds watching matches goes against the values of the GAA. People watching their county colours is not what the GAA is about. Wake up sheeple.

However, it's entirely reasonable for Kerry to insist that a decision is made early as regards the when and the where and, indeed, the if. We don't want to be getting jerked around with last-minute changes, bearing in mind the Tyrone covid fiasco last year.

How is this any different really as to when PUC was being upgraded. PUC wasn't available so Cork/Kerry games were moved to Killarney with Cork getting extra home games afterwards. This is the same scenario.

There used to be a joke about Cork footballers suffering from a form of paranoia...."they think they is someone watching them".
Cork footballers are the poor relation. Its all about the hurlers in Cork. Cork footballers feel the the county board dont care about them and neither do the Cork public. So they form their own bubble and do whats right for themselves as they see it.
Meanwhile the hurlers are off to play Clare at a neutral venue but its not really neutral.... Cork hurlers play better there than anywhere. Cork hurlers and public love Thurles.

Cork have one eye on how we facilitated Tyrone in last Summer's semifinal.😉
It was reported that Gaa HQ were prepared to hand Kerry a walkover during Tyrone's "crisis" last year until our intervention.
I've no idea what Kerry Gaa's view on this current fiascois, but I would like to see Kerry Gaa stay 100% out of the debate completely.
If this standoff results in Munster Gaa offering a walkover, I would suggest that we accept the decision of the Munster council and prepare for a Munster final.

The lack of self awareness in that statement/argument is startling (until you realise this is Corkonians you are talking about).
I didn't know Eddie was doing a charity gig in PUC
Only one thing for it, someone from our side should just give a quick comment to say we are happy to play the game wherever and its up to the powers that be to decide - then the week of the game use this as the bit of motivation to go up there and utterly humiliate them and Ricken and their manufactured outrage.
And after a 15 point loss I hope the first question Ricken is asked is, well holding onto the home advantage didn't do much for your boys today Keith!!!

Does anyone else feel this has a similar ring to the events of last year’s semi-final against Tyrone with the “well of you don’t comply we will forfeit and not play, covid stunt”. Look where this got us last year. Football is about learning from past experience and eradicating previous failings, this not only works for both sides of the line for players and management, but also for the administrative sector.
My advice to Patrick O’Sullivan is stand well back and let this unfold. There is not need for Kerry as a county or footballing side to get involved in a Munster vs Cork County Board vs Cork Players panel dispute.
I feel, similar to Mickmac above the Munster Council will balk, If the Munster Admin had any balls, they would threaten a wide county ban for not fulfilling the fixture and taking the game into disrepute, I’m sure the hurling fraternity of the rebel county wouldn’t look kindly upon that stance.
It is the height of hypocrisy to accuse the Munster Council of moving the fixture for financial gain, when the reason the pitch is unavailable is due to a highly lucrative music concert to raise funds.
Crass.

One thing that strikes me in all these things is the reputation of the Kerry County Board. Absolute gentlemen and it speaks volumes that most other counties around Ireland would consider them to be gentlemen as well. Last year we could have easily said we wouldn't move our semi final and if ye want to forfeit than please do. Instead we gave them another bit of time to get organised, and it disrupted our own training and helped Tyrone massively. Though I still think it was the right thing to do, maybe the county board were too nice. Same with cards in the past where we chose not to press the matter. Now this... where the Kerry County Board have been very accommodating along the way. I don't want Kerry to lose the reputation of being gentlemen, but perhaps we should get a little bit tougher and tell Cork that they git it fixed by tomorrow or forfeit.

It is but they are the ones that have put themselves in this position. As I said previously, why are the Cork team and their CB not at loggerheads. Its the Cork CB that their anger should be directed at for giving away PUC.
People are entitled to go to a game and not be scrambling for tickets in this circumstance.
Its like Dublin deciding to play in Parnell for a Leinster final simply because it increases their chances of victory.
We don't take teams to Tralee because we think Killarney might suit the opposition better do we???

I don't necessarily agree with the statement that Cork have created this mess themselves, and I think the criticism of them is harsh. Tickets for the concerts went on sale in April 2021 which would mean that the agreement with Cork to stage the concerts would have been perhaps in late 2020. At this point there was no mention of the split season let alone championship dates set. In years past I would imagine the PUC is quiet in early May, therefore when agreeing to the concert they were making to best use of the their stadium at that time of year.
Cork are entitled to their home game and therefore should be allowed play it in PUR. As much as I enjoy championship in the Park and the crowds it draws to Killarney I would prefer to see the Munster Council crack as it is these provincial boards that are holding back GAA reform due to their greed.

Regardless, Kerry Co. Board should step back and see how all this unfolds. Kerry are not involved in the row yet.

This mess has nothing to do with them. They are representing themselves. They as in the Cork GAA - the rest of us can't be responsible for the dysfunctional nature of the GAA in a neighboring county. Its for Cork alone to deal with the way the footballers are treated vis a vie their hurlers.
