Be very surprised if Kerry don't win the U21 this year to add another AI medal to the many this group have collected over the past few years. Talent in abundance, I actually can't remember the last time I was this excited about young players coming through. The positive for me is that many seem to be defensive options, we have all heard of the forwards who get the plaudits for putting up big scores but nice to see defenders getting a mention. Jason Foley, Brian Begley, Tom O Sullivan, Gavin White and many many more. Exciting time ahead for us I think.

I agree plenty talent there this year. No excuse for not winning Munster at the very least. I'd be surprised if they didn't go all the way. Shane Ryan in goals. Eoin O'Brien another Keeper. Brian O' Beaglaoich, Jason Foley , Tom O'Sullivan, Gavin White, Andrew Barry, Tom Leo O' Sullivan, Brian Sugrue, Dan O' Donoghue, Darren Brosnan, Cormac Coffey, Jack Morgan, Rob Wharton, Dara O'Shea, Mike Breen, Dan O'Brien, David Naughton, Caolam Teahan, Niall Collins, and Graham O'Sullivan. All good backs. Barry O'Sullivan, John Mark Foley, Mark Ryan and Liam Kearney in midfield. Mike Burns, Liam Carey, Brian O'Seanachain, Matt Flaherty, Sean O'Shea, Dara Moynihan, Brandon Barrett, David Shaw, Ivan Parker, James Dugan, Evan Cronin, Cathay Bambury, Conor Geaney, Mike Foley, Cormac Linnane, Matthew O'Sullivan, Jordan Kiely, Stephen O'Sullivan, Mike O'Donnell, Killian Spillane and Bryan Sweeney. Serious talent.

I completely understand the expectancy with our under 21s this year BUT if memory serves me correctly the biggest and closest tests those Kerry minor sides have gotten over the last 3 years have come from Cork. There's been very very little in it! A call here, a bit of luck there, make no mistake, it's been close. Moreover. I think Mark O'Connor is a huge loss to Kerry football and especially at this under 21 grade. You absolutely underestimate Cork at this grade at your peril! Beat Cork and we’ll probably win it out but do not underestimate this challenge.

Lets hope the Kerry u21s can get enough traction at midfield in Mark O'Connor absence to provide the required platform. Lack of fitness at midfield was critical last year in the Munster u21 final loss to Cork.

Cork are not as strong as other years. Corks 3 best players last year Stephen Cronin Sean White and Peter Kelleher are overage this year. They are big losses. Kerry will be stronger than last year even without O'Connor. Munster should be achievable. Looking further afield I think Donegal or Derry should win ulster. Galway should win Connacht as Mayo have most of last years team overage. Kildare should win Leinster. Kerry would end playing Galway in the semis.

I presume the bulk of both teams will come from the respective minor teams of 2015. That epic was played in Tralee and we won by a point after extra time. Last year Cork made an uncomfortable comeback after a disastrous start. UCC and CIT are great great breeding grounds for Cork u21s and a consequence of this is that very little travelling is involved for training etc. It would be wise to wait until the chickens are hatched before the counting starts.

Cork are only playing matches at the moment and strangely enough are not training collectively; some of their results are less than encouraging having been well beaten by UL's Sigerson team & by Dr Crokes both recently. A Munster final in PUR on 29/03 could be scuppered by a Tipperary side who are going well by all accounts.

Hard team to pick which is a good thing of course. Plenty options for Jack. Mark O'Connor is a huge loss of course. It does give John Mark Foley a great opportunity to start and I think he will. mossie and greengold35 you are both very close I think. Both are good teams. Shane Ryan for sure best Keeper in the County at all levels in my opinion. There is five certs for me in the backs. Brian O'Beaglaoich, Jason Foley, Gavin White, Tom O'Sullivan, and Andrew Barry. I think Matt Flaherty is better suited for the half forward line. Cormac Coffey has great pace but his passing is terrible and he loses possesion easily enough. I think it's between Tom Leo O'Sullivan, Brian Sugrue, and Dan O'Brien for the other spot. Tom Leo might shade it. Mike Breen will have to be on the bench as well. Barry O'Sullivan for sure and John Mark Foley as his partner for midfield. Liam Kearney is another option but I think he will be on the bench at least for the first game. Sean O'Shea was a brilliant minor and I think he will be a fantastic u21. He starts for me. Brian O'Seanachain as well and it's between Mike Burns and Brandon Barrett for the other spot. Dara Moynihan will be on the bench. Conor Geaney for sure and Killian Spillane will start in the full forward line. He probably will go with Matt O'Sullivan also. David Shaw is playing great football right now and Liam Carey is another fine player. Cathal Bambury and Jordan Kiely are good options for the corners. The bench will be very strong. Eoin O'Brien will probably be the back up keeper.

The fact that Kerry U-21s are typically in Cork and Limerick has to count as a distinct disadvantage.

The big issue I'm sure Annascaul is reffering to is the fact that most Kerry lads will go to college in limerick or Cork and coming down to Kerry midweek for training is not the most ideal of situations. Most Cork lads would be based in college in Cork and this makes it much easier for them to get access to their players during the week.

Neither are a long drives with car pooling and shared drivers. It is not going to define the outcome of games. I'd say most of the work is done at weekends regardless.

Hands up, highlighting this disadvantage goes against a lot of what I believe in and paints me as a hypocrite.
I know in my heart that I know I made the comment in an effort to dampen expectation.
There is a lot of pressure on this U-21 side. I know they are doing their absolute best but it is knockout and there is no next year.
Cool the jets. Up Kerry.

I'd be more concerned about having players in Australia than 60 miles away in Linerick or Cork!
