This is the same Dublin team that Mayo had beaten with 15 minutes to go until Lee Keegan hit the self-destruction button and the same Dublin team who's forwards scored less than a handful of points from play in the All-Ireland final. I don't buy this Dublin invincibility theory at all going into the new year. Yeah Lee Keegan miss is just out there. Absolutely still can't fathom it.

I'd say it's more to do with the likes of Maher, Crowley, and the 2 Geaneys being injured. Throw in the Legion and Stacks lads out again this weekend, and maybe a few others just not being arsed!

Never take any notice of this panel anymore. GAA spend more time promoting the international rules. In fairness if it was taken seriously at all - based on their showings (or lack of) with Kerry, griffin, cox, casey, gary o'sullivan wouldnt be near the panel. Didnt tommy walsh play with munster bfore he played with kerry?

Jim Gavin has confirmed that Dublin full back Rory O'Carroll will not be part of the squad this year. The 26 year old will depart for New Zealand on work commitment grounds.

O'Carroll had started everyone of Dublin's championship matches since the quarter-final in 2009. That beautiful bygone era, safe to say for him it was all up from there.

Agreed, top top player. I suspect he will be back for the business end as he will be very difficult to replace.

Rory O'Carroll departs for New Zealand and the same day Dublin only draw with Wexford. Leinster will be wide open this year Seriously though while he is a bit of a loss, I don't see it being a massive blow in the way I would if Cluxton was out.

Not really sure where to put it so said I'd throw it up for anyone who might be interested - Eanna O'Connor make his debut for Kildare in their win over DIT today. Depending on how things develop down the line, there is a possibility that he might end up playing intercounty against a team managed by his father.

He's been the best full-back this decade by a distance. Dublin will find it very hard to replace him.

I don't buy this Dublin invincibility theory at all going into the new year. Yeah Lee Keegan miss is just out there. Absolutely still can't fathom it. Completely agree, the same story is spun year in, year out. Dublin are a great team, they have their best ever football team, however, it too will wane and they will be vulnerable, particularly this year. We saw with our own lads that putting back to back wins is nigh on impossible given the levels of training involved. A friend of mine had to pack in training with the county team here a few weeks back as his hamstring wasn't able to take the load, and this was just pre season stuff. People expect so much from county players without realising the torture they put themselves through all year round. Dublin will find it difficult to back up last year's All Ireland, even more so now that Rory O Carroll isn't available. He has been consistently excellent in every championship game that he has played. Dublin aren't miles ahead of the chasing pack, like Kerry and Mayo, they have the luxury of a completely uncompetitive provincial championship and can virtually be guaranteed to be playing in the quarter finals in August. From then on a hop of the ball, a poor or fatigued decision on the ball or from a referee or not getting the run of the game may very well stymie their bid for back to back glory. Of course, should that happen, they will go from being invincible to being in transition and it will be a long road back etc insert cliche .... Can't wait for the end of the month when the league begins. This winter's hibernation has felt like an absolute age. Won't be long now....

Can't wait till the league starts too. It's been dreadful stint since the All Ireland. Is it too much to hope for Kerry making knockout of the league. I'd hate to think we'd be relegated. Sport is a confidence thing and a poor league would not bode well for the year ahead. Also I think it fair to say that there's a few lads like mark griffin pa Kilkenny and Tommy Walsh who have serious points to prove in the year ahead. My big hope for this year is a move away from selecting different teams for each game and dropping guys after they've played well

I'd like to see Mark Griffin given a chance further out the field during the League, instead of using him to plug a hole during the League and then discarding him during the Championship.
