I didn't hear the radio programme to which Fitzop refers. I am not at all surprised at his appraisal of Peter Canavan. Peter is one of most insightful, perhaps the most insightful, commentator on gaelic football. He has in depth understanding of the game and he delivers this impartially. Peter analyses the game in the cold, detached manner in which played it. He makes Comical Joe Ali sound like, well Comical Joe Ali. As a Kerryman, I am in no way looking forward to the day when he assumes the Tyrone manager's job which he inevitably will if that is his wish.

Its a figure of speech. I did read it here. Im not getting at Kerry supporters. There are people in every county not watching the AI final. But my point was that it was more a case of sour grapes not to watch an AI where your team is not involved, than it was to cheer against your rivals. Why would it be sour grapes to not watch an AI final? You could simply have no interest! We all surely know by now that Gaelic football at intercounty level isn't all it's cracked up to be aside from 1 or 2 good games a year. Far more sour grapes to go to an effort to cheer against your rivals, there's something bitter about cheering against your rivals. It's not really the done thing historically, hence so far no need to segregate GAA fans. But hey I'm just a "Southerner" so what would I know!!! lol I've never missed a final since I was a youngster. I've never known anyone into football that doesn't watch every final. I just find that strange. Each to their own I suppose. 1 or 2 good games a year. It makes you wonder why we watch any matches at all

At this point in the championship we can say that the blankets have been beaten, hence no Ulster teams left, or the blanket passers. No disrespect to the Ulster teams but I'm glad they are gone. We have 3 teams left that play complete football and I am hoping for 2 fantastic games. If an Ulster team comes out and plays football then I'd be happy to praise them but I can't see that happening soon. One of them should try for the fun and see where it takes them, they might surprise themselves!! Watching Tyrone defend from their 40 when 3-4 points down with our lads passing the ball around, they get what they deserve. It was rubbish football. A bit of generalising there. There more than Ulster sides playing defensive, and you know it. It's just easier for everyone to Ulster-bash. The 3 teams left have become considerably more defensively- minded in the last few years. Why? Maybe they had to in order to compete. Maybe they should go man to man for the fun and see where it takes them

I've got a feeling Tyrone won't have to wait too long before they win a Sam again. Now, why did you have to say that? I was having a great day until I read that! Miaow! Sod it, where's that whisky...

Contrary to what folk down South are led to believe, Harte will be there for as long as he wants; assembling his 3rd team this year ensures that. Canavan on Sky might suggest he'd have an easier path as a pundit and about which Veteran is spot on Sunday proved; I switched over from Brolly to Sky.

Just watched the game there again. it was a great game and Tyrone , with all the negative press they got, conducted themselves well. Marks black was spot on and Enright should have got black also. It wouldn't have mattered because the Kerry bench is so strong. Sean Cavanagh shouldn't have bothered going on about fair play etc. They were beaten fair and square. In fact Kerry's flourish of good scores at the end was not unlike Tyrone's strong finish in the '08 final. Great to be involved again in the only day that really matters to the Kingdom. I wonder if Brolly still thinks that Tyrone have Kerry exactly where they want them?

Has the blanket defense been utterly destroyed forever? I am not sure it is as simple as that. I would say if you play a particular style of it, and are bound by its limitations no mater what then you are asking for trouble. I think that it is vital to be able to defend in numbers, at certain stages of a game, as it is to break forward in numbers and take your chances. Too much of either and you will be either exposed at the back or starved of scores no question.
The key word for me in my view of where the game is at is versatility. There is no such thing any more as sticking to a plan for 70 minutes. Know when to fold and know when to hold is the order of the day. And it is all about addressing an issue in the moment rather than hoping it will sort itself out, and 2 minutes later being a goal and a point worse off.
I too hope that attacking football is rewarded. Ultimately we like to see great scores as opposed to few, but it is not likely to be entirely one or the other.

Brolly was incensed that he was proved wrong by our performance yesterday and that an ulster team were beaten. He launched into an emotional attack on Maurice Deegan without viewing the actual evidence and this guy is a barrister? He has been showing himself up as the typical bitter man with a chip on his shoulder. Watch his body language over the last few years and you will see that he can hardly contain himself emotionally.

hilarious bit of logic from Tom Carr. "Tyrone would have won if Kerry hadn't got the scores at the end" I don't think he ever recovered from Maurice Fitz's point that day in Thurles.

Apparently Brolly suffers from Small Man Syndrome so please understand, as for Carr, ah he's just not cut out for public show.

Yeh I was thinking that, Kerry's passes stuck, and alot of them were tough ball to win. No simple pass fumbling either, which is much harder than it looks on a wet day

What struck me about the Tyrone chances, 3 of the 4 came from our mistakes. Two of the mistakes were a result of the weather. Slipping and trying a quick pass not to get caught in possession. We controlled the second half bar the 8 minute spell where we coughed up two points and a penalty. Brolly claiming Morgan as the heir apparent to Cluxton(some howler), he also claimed the Minor match was bloodless( Derry lost of course)nothing about the fantastic teamwork of the Kerry Minors. Totally dominant only for the keepers slip. The achivement of reaching the AI for the second year running by both teams and managers. The senior management have planned our campaign wonderfully, we have a panel of players who can be mixed to suit the opposition. Star will be disappointed if he does start as will the others, but the greater good of the team is number 1 and the compensation of leading the team and lifting Sam outweighs personnel disappointments.

(the umpire didn't see it either!) Did you see the hit on Gooch near the end? Did you see McMahon trying to lift an injured Gooch from the ground?

Sky put up some stats after the game , and the one that stood out for me was "Unforced Errors"
Kerry 1
Tyrone 12.

I was delighted when Marc O Shea was blackcarded.
I said at the time that the referee had set a precedent now at an early point. I felt that we had the footballers which would force them to foul, and was happy because the ref would have to deal with them likewise due to the coverage on this game.
We had a bench that can absob the loss of O'Shea. I knew that there bench did not have the same dept and was pretty confident that they would lose one as well at a later point.

An interesting stat would be the amount of times Martin Carney says 'it must be said' in a game. My guess is, it's more times than David Moran touched the ball against Mayo last year

A great win, Fitzmaurice hasn't lost a Championship game in over two years. Dublin semi-final 2013. How sweet it would be to put that right in the final this year.
