Was there ever any recourse for Crotta or any investigation into the 14 minutes of extra time? I'm not a hurling man and I have only ever been to one hurling game in my life but that is just farcical

Two games tomorrow should be close games,
Causeway looked good against Ballyduff the first day out but were beaten by Lixnaw in the second round,Colm Harty stuck two goals and they will need him to get a few tomorrow as Lixnaw kept him quiet, they do depend on Paul Mcgrath for his free taking and this has been there downfall in the past as they do need a few more lads to get on the score board
St Brendans have been poor so far in the championship, they only played for 10 minutes against O Dorney and went down that day without any fight which was strange, they just just got the better of Ballyheigue in brutal conditions,John Egan is their main man and like Causeway they need to get a better spread of scorers, their backs should have the measure of the Causeway forwards.
Its could be a close game but id say Causeway will just about win it maybe after a replay,
The game between O Dorney and Ballyduff should be another close game,O Dorney played very well in the second half against St Brendans and were fully deserved the win that day, they then had to play to play Kilmoyley in terrible conditions in Ballyduff, they drove a lot of wides that day and Kilmoyley handled the game and conditions better. They need big games from Ivan McCarthy,David Egan,Aidan Healy and Mike Hannafin
Ballyduff were poor against Causeway and they were a puck of a ball away from being dumped out of this years championship against Crotta, they recovered well in extra time to get the win in the end, some of the local media would have you believe that Ballyduff are finished but they should win tomorrow,Padraig Boyle is a big loss but the still have Mikey and Aidan Boyle,Gary O Brien,Bobby O Sullivan, the Gradys and Eoin Ross.
Ballyduff to win.

Apparently Ardfert blew Causeway off the field tonight winning by something like 4.18 to 1.12.
No one saw that coming. Great show of team spirit as usual which Causeway couldn't match

Blew them off the field is right Mick,Egan was on fire again,a lot does be said about Ardfert been a one man team but it was the backs that drove them on in the first half, the six of them were first to everything,Causeway had no answer to them,

Mike O Halloran is a great hurling man and he is being well treated on his trips to NK venues while Austin Stacks Park is being done up.
This is from the 20th July 2015;
Mike O’Halloran was in Kilmoyley on Sunday evening for the Garveys Supervalu Kerry Senior Hurling Championship game between Ballyduff and Causeway…
Causeway 2-12
Ballyduff 0-10
Another great welcome awaited the followers of the ancient game when we travelled to one of the most scenic hurling fields in The Kingdom.
Again, the folks in Kilmoyley had the whole place spic and span and it came as no surprise to anybody who visits that facility that the pitch was in pristine condition as it always is.
I was lucky enough to get tea in a china cup accompanied by Mikado biscuits. These days in North Kerry it feels like the old days of “The Stations” when neighbours visited each others houses for Mass and some food.
For weeks prior people would comment “they are busy preparing for The Stations” the house and yards would be given the once-over with everything that could be painted given a lick and the best china would be laid on the best table cloth for the neighbours.
Now the hurling clubs of the area have been given the opportunity to visit each other while Austin Stacks Park is being redeveloped and like preparing for the stations, they have been busy preparing to host the Garveys Supervalu hurling Championship Hurling games.
Every blade of grass is cut, every post painted and more importantly there is an army of stewards to welcome everybody and make sure they are safe.
I was not in Causeway earlier for the double header but I am told that the welcome there and the facilities were also impressive.

Semi Final draw,
Saturday 29th Kilmoyley V Ballyduff
Sunday 30th Lixnaw V St Brendans
Both games to be played in O Dorney and the final I think Ger McCarthy said will be played in Causeway.
I suppose the reason behind picking Causeway is spectators can go both sides of the field.

The hospitality of the clubs can be acknowledged without it. bit more reporting on the games, tactics, players would be more desirable. How about a feature on who the grounds are named after, a feature on a player, a history of the pitch development instead. Timmy Sheehan is the best man to report on the hurling games in paper or radio in my opinion.

Semi Final draw, Saturday 29th Kilmoyley V Ballyduff Sunday 30th Lixnaw V St Brendans Both games to be played in O Dorney and the final I think Ger McCarthy said will be played in Causeway. I suppose the reason behind picking Causeway is spectators can go both sides of the field. I think the pitch in Causeway is small for a county hurling final. Teams need a big pitch to express themselves How big is the pitch in Listowel again? It could be an ideal venue especially if a Ballyduff v Lixnaw final. I expect Abbeydorney to be heaving at the seams for them two semi final clashes. Kilmoyley and Ballyduff is a massive crowd puller even in Tralee. Also Lixnaw and St Brendans are both in flying form so that will attract huge interest as well. Third game in a row in Abbeydorney for Lixnaw. They also won a minor county final there last year. Home from home for them. You would wonder whether the venue will hold the crowd as there will be huge interest Lixnaw have brought in some nice young players this year. Also, veteran Enda Galvin still turning it on for them 15 years after winning An Ireland Football title with Kerry. He has given Lixnaw and Finuge some service.

Great win for St Brendans, its was score for score until St Brendans got the second goal,a free from John Egan on his own 65 went all the way to the net a massive blow to blow to Lixnaw who never recovered after it,

The view from Ardfert;
The dust has settled on last night's Kerry GAA Garvey's SuperValu Co. Semi final which was played in a Semple Stadium lookalike Abbeydorney GAA pitch v Lixnaw GAA Club. The pitch demanded good hurling & both teams delivered. Before a crowd of over 1,500 vocal supporters the teams served up a skilled performance & as supporters are so near the action on the pitch, the players must have felt the atmosphere closing in. Well established players on the two team's stormed into action led by Lixnaw's Mike Conway, 'Tweek' & Brendan Brosnan & our own John Egan, Darren Dineen & the gallant Conor Flaherty. The provided the solid grounding for the younger players who shone on the night including Fionán Mackessy, Kevin Skinner & Eric Leen, while Shane Conway & Johnny Buckley tried their best for Lixnaw. Once again it was the silken skills of John Egan which gave our team the good start & while the scores were level several times our backs stood tall & solid performances by Stephen Leen, Eamon Corridon, Kevin Orpen, Rory & Fionán Horgan delivered good ball to David Griffin, John Egan & Kevin Skinner & Fionán Mackessy who between them racked up the scores & kept the score board ticking over. The introduction of our returned students Kevin Hannafin & Cian Hussey at half time gave an added impetus to our team & it was a well deserved win for a solid hard working effort on the night, guided by Captain & goalie Darren Delaney. We are now back in a Co. Final & have a few more weeks to fine tune the skills & work towards bringing the Neilus Flynn trophy back to Ardfert. Our commiserations to a gallant Lixnaw who have been worthy Champions & who were gracious in defeat. Congratulations to Abbeydorney on a well run show last night & best of luck to Ballyduff & Kilmoyley Hurling club this evening in the second semi final which goes ahead at 6pm in Abbeydorney. Well done to our players & management of Pat O Driscoll, Brendan Horgan, Eamon Ferris, Aidan O Mahony & coach John Mortell who are spearheading the drive for success. Well done to all the supporters who were crucial to the win & we look forward to a few weeks of blue & white mania.

Mike O’Halloran saw St Brendan’s advance to the Garvey’s Supervalu Kerry SHC final after defeating Lixnaw last night in Abbeydorney…
St Brendan’s 2-15
Lixnaw 1-12
I had this game down as a draw and up until the 20th minute of the second half, it looked like it might be heading that way.
Lixnaw were behind by a point at that stage 1-11 to 1-10, then up steps John Egan with a free from his own half. Martin Stackpoole touched it and it ended up in the net, game over.
St Brendan’s have navigated their way to a county final after running aground in the first round against Abbeydorney.
They were in the Doldrums for long periods against Ballyheigue but eventually gathered enough wind to sail into a quarter final with Causeway.
The wash their ship created capsized the Causeway vessel. I thought that St Brendans’ display that night was awesome but might be have been aided by a weak Causeway challenge.
On Saturday evening, after a nervous opening five minutes, they raised all their sails and began their march to a county final, led by Dáithí Griffin and John Egan.
Griffin opened their account after only 13 seconds but by the fifth minute Lixnaw were 1-2 to to one point ahead, the points coming from Mike Conway with his brother Shane gliding in for the goal.
It was nip and tuck from there to the half-time whistle with John Egan at the end of a ball that Tim Hannafin knocked across the square, Egan tipped it into the net 1-3 to 1-2 in favour of St Brendan’s.
Enda Galvin and James Flaherty had points for Lixnaw, Kevin Skinner, who was excellent through out, replied for St Brendans, level again 1-4 each with 15 minutes gone.
Egan and Mike Conway swapped points, Skinner put St Brendan’s ahead, Conway pointed two before John Egan levelled at the halftime break, 1-7 each.
Even though the scores were level St Brendan’s were on top with more of the ball and in command in most areas.
At half-time one had a feeling the “the yanks are coming” and so they did from the resumption, Cian Hussey and Kevin Hannafin joined the fray adding to the St Brendan’s arsenal.
The introduction to one of the top college hurlers in the country for St Brendan’s and the loss of John Griffin for Lixnaw was always going to have an impact on the game and so it did.
Add to that, Ricky Heffernan received attention for a few minutes. He was able to return to the action but he was not himself. Remember also that Lixnaw had to line out without Maurice Corridon.
Following Egan’s long range goal the game was over, so much so in fact that when St Brendan’s won a penalty through the great work of Kevin Hannafin, Egan just tipped it over for a point.
Michael Conway finished with a point from play and one from a placed ball.
St Brendan’s have proven that they are the quality team the showed in Kilmoyley, they were given a stern test today and passed it with flying colours.
They remaining teams Ballyduff and Kilmoyley will find it difficult to overcome their power and organisation.
I am not taking away from St Brendan’s win in any way, but Lixnaw haven’t played in five weeks and haven’t had the cut and thrust games to hone their team.
Last year they came through the back door and got better as they went along.
It looks like there is a title around for the taking for St Brendan’s.
St Brendans: Darren Delaney, Rory Horgan, Conor Flaherty, Stephen Leen, Eamonn Corridon, Darren Dineen, Kevin Orpen, Fionan Horgan, Jerry Wallace (Kevin Hannafin 30″) David Griffin (3) Kevin Skinner (3) Eric Leen, Fionan Mackessey (2), Tim Hannafin (Cian Hussey 30″) John Egan (2.7.)
Lixnaw: Martin Stackpoole, Ger Stackpoole, TrevorMckenna, Pat Corridon, Brendan Brosnan, Darragh Shanahan, Stephen Power, John Griffin (Colin Sheehy 35″) Michael Stackpoole, Shane Conway (1G), Enda Galvin (Jeremy McKenna), John Buckley, James Flaherty (1pts), Michael Conway (9pts) Ricky Heffernann (2pts) (Cathal McCarthy)

Eventful game in O Dorney, played was held up for about a half an hour in the first half for an injury to Ballyduff player David O Grady he was carried off the field in an ambulance, then a second ambulance was needed to take Tom Murnane to the hospital at half time,he had picked up an injury at the end of the first half, speedy recovery to the two lads
Kilmoyley were by far the better team, away fitter and played more as team, once they upped the pace they pulled away and got some lovely scores.
Should be a great final and I hope its played in Abbeydorney what a set up they have, the finest pitch in Kerry for hurling.
I have heard talk that it will be played in Listowel but that makes no sense at all, play it in O Dorney Im sure if they wanted to cater for the big crowd that will be at the final maybe a temporary seating terrace might be an option.

Should make a very good final. I say St. Brendans will win it but it will be close. Kilmoyley played some lovely hurling in the second half against Ballyduff. With all the rivalry between those two teams it should make a great match where ever it is played.
