Clare CB won't move the game to accomadate him. This is a disaster. Ironically, it was the the draw between Kildare and London that pushed this fixture back; it was originally pencilled in for last week when there was no club game. Needs to be a rethink on outside players going forward. Being at the mercy of other counties' club schedules is simply intolerable. In relation to Kelly being forced to play for the club - ok, by the rules the club have first call, but what would actually happen if he said he was playing for Kerry ?

Good to see sense has prevailed with the calling off of Ardfert and Feale Rangers at the weekend
Pure madness having lads playing the Christy Ring Semi Final on Saturday and then have them out the following day in the County Football Championship
Patrick Kelly will be a big loss to Kerry on Saturday he has been outstanding after his move out from full back,I still think Kerry should be well good enough to beat Kildare.

At least the issue with pat kelly won't arise again next year if rumors are true he's to join kilmoyley. Can only be good for kerry hurling if even a few of these lads joined the club scene but I'm a firm believer that the north kerry league should be done away with as games from it and the county league usually get doubled up. And many games have been given walk overs aswell .

He was supposed to be joining a Kerry club, anyone know if that happened of not? As for the North Kerry League. Its been said on here for years that it needs to go. Daugh played in the West Limerick league this year. From what i hear it didn't quite work out but other teams should be doing the same. The same should be done with the South Kerry Junior league, this year only Stacks and St Pats played in it! Just have a senior league, that way the likes of St Pats will be playing at the higher level.

From what I have heard Patrick Kelly is also playing very well for his club Clarecastle so you could see him back on the Clare panel again next year,
He could end up playing against Kerry next year in the league
Either way he has been outstanding for Kerry, probably the the best "outside" player we have got since that rule came in.

We are playing Derry in next weeks final, they beat Down,0-23 to 2-12
That should be a big test next week even though our lads experience of Croke Park should stand to them and last years loss to Kildare should keep the feet on the ground after todays big win

Wow!. Didn't see that coming. Fair dues.
Some strange results in this cup. Kildare beat Meath in the last round and Meath gave us a right scare earlier.

Copied & pasted from independent.ie....
"Mikey Boyle scored four girls as Kerry hammered Kildare to reach next week’s Christy Ring Cup final. The Ballyduff marksman had three in the first half and grabbed fourth in the second"
And managed to hurl as well. Some man for one man.

Kildare 0-09 Kerry 6-27
Kildare's bid to retain the Christy Ring Cup was ended by a ruthless Kerry side in Newbridge on Saturday afternoon on a scoreline of 6-27 to 0-09.
Kerry return to the final, which is their third in a row and fifth in six years, thanks to their 36-point defeat of Kildare.
Mikey Boyle was Kerry's hero on the day as he notched up four goals and one point before being substituted to a hero's applause in St Conleth's Park.
He had a hat-trick in the first half before Kildare substitute Mark Grace was sent off just three minutes after coming on and it was all downhill for the Lilywhites after that.
Kerry will play Derry, who overcame Down in the other semi-final, and will be aiming for the round-robin stage of the Liam MacCarthy cup when it kicks off next year.
Kerry led 2-09 to 0-03 after 25 minutes thanks to two goals from Boyle and some sharp shooting from placed balls by Shane Nolan.
At this point, Kildare substitute Grace was sent off for an incident off the ball and Kildare found themselves in serious trouble.
Matters would only worsen for Kildare when Boyle secured his hat-trick just minutes later and sent Kerry on the road to victory.
Further points from Padraig Boyle, Michael O'Leary and Shane Nolan would push Kerry's lead out to 19 at half time as they lead 3-13 to 0-03 at the break.
Michael O'Leary and Eanna O'Neill would trade points to begin the second half but Kerry would go on to land 2-08 without reply to really bury any chance of a Kildare comeback with 20 minutes still to play.
Another goal from Colum Harty really left the scoreline looking disastrous for Kildare as Kerry continued to compound their misery on home soil.
Despite the heavy deficit Kildare would finish strongest with scores from Dinny Stapleton, Gerry Keegan, Martin Fitzgerald and Niall O'Muineachain. It was too little too late for Kildare at that stage as the game petered out in the dying stages.
Boyle finished with 4-01 before being substituted to the applause of the travelling Kerry support.
Kildare: P Dermody; N O'Muineachain (0-01), F O'Muineachain, J Doran; D Stapleton (0-01), M Moloney, E O'Neill (0-01); M Fitzgerald (0-02), P Divilly (0-01f); B Deay, E Dempsey, W Greene; G Keegan (0-01), D Flaherty (0-01), M Delaney (0-01f)
Subs: M Grace for J Doran (25), L Quinn for M Delaney(ht), J Byrne for W Green (HT), K Whelan for M Moloney (45), N Kenny for P Divilly (63),

Kerry were favourites to beat Kildare in last years C.Ring final and the defeat was a shock and it obviously was uppermost in their minds going into todays game. This was one of the greatest mismatches of all time.
First of all, a word about Kildare. They were beaten all over the field but they kept plugging away in admirable fashion and ended the game well by scoring some lovely points. Their followers stayed to the end and they walked off beaten but unbowed. I think that this is their fifth week in a row playing and maybe that caught up with them and their U21s were out during the week v Wexford. Their keeper prevented another 6 goals including one of these new one-on-one penalties.
Kerry gave an awesome performance. They rained high ones down on the Kildare fullback line and the Boyles and Butler won everything. The defence were mean and tight and every ball out of defence was played with the head up to find a Kerry jersey. Scores came from all angles and all players.
Michael OLeary caught a puckout by the Kerry keeper about 45 yards from goal over his mans head and he just turned and split the posts. John Egan picked off 3 points from play in the first half from midfield. Mikey Boyle and his brother caused mayhem inside and Mikey got two goals in the first 20 mins. His marker was taken off after 25 mins and the new guy got a red card immediately and that was that. Keith Carmody went to sweeper on the D as the spare man.
The second half was more of the same and Kerry emptied the bench and there was no let up with the subs all making an impression. Michael OLeary is simply unstoppable and when he went off his brother Brendan came on and made an immediate impact. Both must be about 6'4" tall.
The Kerry half back lien was totally dominant.
Kerry must close the deal next Saturday v Derry. They have lost the last two finals. They are unlikely to play as well again though.
TG4 will show the final and its good that they will get a bit of exposure.

Our hurling analyst, Mike O’Halloran, was in Newbridge yesterday for Kerry’s comprehensive victory over Kildare in the Christy Ring Cup semi-final…
Kerry 6-27
Kildare 0-9

Kerry strolled to the most convincing of wins ever I would guess in the history of Kerry hurling.
I predicted a close game that would end in a draw with Kerry winning in extra time – how delightfully wrong I was.
I based my predictions on Kildare having a couple of more competitive games than Kerry in the past few weeks and how Meath had tested Kerry in Tralee.
I did not reflect back to Abbeydorney two years ago in the league where this team gave Kildare quite a dusting.
The game was well and truly over by halftime when Kerry led by 3.13 to 0-3, the goals coming from Michael Boyle who was on fire from the first contact with with the ball.
In my preview I said that Michael needed to win ball in the air and man did he win ball!

His hand was like a magnet all day and his distribution and scoring was a joy to watch.
From the off, Kildare had no answer to Kerry in any area of the field and were it not for the heroics of their goalkeeper, Paul Dermody, Kerry could have had at least five more goals.
To add to his general saves, he also saved a bullet of a penalty from Shane Nolan.
All through the game, the Kerry fullback line was hardly troubled. The half back line of Collins, Dineen and Carmody blocked everything before it went anywhere near the danger area and along with preventing scoring opportunities they also linked up with Griffin and Egan to set up the “Magnificent Six” forwards.
Michael O’Leary was awesome from the throw-in and scored four points, Colum Harty worked and ran himself into the ground all day, bagging a goal and a point, Michael Boyle caught everything that was struck in his general direction and stuck in four goals and one point while his brother Padraigh was awesome.
He set up scores and tapped over five points himself and David Butler was busy all hour.
Oh yes, did I mention the man who is said to have had a “quiet game”, well Shane Nolan only scored 1-7, not a bad return for a “quiet game”. With his scores alone, Kerry would have won by a point.
The Boyles and the O’Learys scored 4-11 between them, enough to win most games.

This was a performance that needed to be witnessed first hand to be believed and in fairness to the Kerry supporters they travelled in numbers.
Kildare cannot point to any aspect of the game that they can take comfort from. Perhaps they can point to playing more than half the game with 14, but frankly I don’t think it made any great difference.
They never gave up the effort to get into the game but Kerry as a unit were not to be denied one of their greatest ever victories.
Kerry now face Derry in the final at 5.30pm next Saturday in Croke Park.
We will remember that Derry came to Tralee in the league and held their own that day.
Can they do the same next Saturday?
No they can’t. There is nothing to stop this machine. They set out to “Win The Ring” and that’s what they will have done by seven o’clock next Saturday.
Scorers for Kerry: Michael Boyle 4-1, Shane Nolan 1-7, (5 frs, 2 65s), Michael O’Leary 0-4, Colum Harty 1-1, Padraigh Boyle 0-5, John Griffin, John Egan and John O Neill 0-2 each, Daniel Collins, Keith Carmody, Brendan O Leary 0-1 each.

Isn't there some rule that you can play inter county with the county of your parents while playing club hurling with the club you grew up with? And if I am right.... would it mean that Kelly could play senior championship with Kerry next year... if they qualify to play at that level....... and continue to play club hurling in Clare.

So the lads on the radio and whoever was tweeting the scores yesterday said the goals were in the first half from Padraig Boyle,Mikey Boyle and Davy Butler and the second half goals were from Colm Harty,Shane Nolan and Padraig Boyle
Then match reports then have Mikey Boyle getting 4-1
Mick you were at the game whats the right story?

I think Mikey got 4 goals but it was hard to keep track of it.
Before the game I was chatting to a grand Kildare man sitting next to me who was proud out of the progress Kildare hurling was making. He goes to all their games.
As the hammering unfolded I felt like Father Ted in that scene at the traffic lights when he is pleading with the traffic lights "Please change, Please change"
