Pcd 1-3 Tralee 0-2 at half-time
Very poor fare in the first 30 minutes - lots of mistakes, frees and turnovers.
Conditions and the ref probably not helping but only a very limited number of moments of quality.
Fingers crossed for a better 2nd half.

St Francis Rochestown’s quadruple dream gathering momentum www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/st-francis-rochestowns-quadruple-dream-gathering-momentum-308375.htmlSt Francis Rochestown 1-9 Coláiste na Sceilge 2-4 The prospect of an unprecedented quadruple remains alive for St Francis College, Rochestown as they got past Coláiste na Sceilge in the e Corn Uí Mhuirí quarter-finals at Knockngagree yesterday. Before Christmas, the school won the O’Callaghan Cup, the top schools hurling title in Cork, and last week reached the Dr Harty Cup semi-finals. A clash with Coláiste Chríost Rí in Cork football final, the Simcox Cup, awaits, too. Despite not scoring a point until the 39th minute, Sceilge had come to within two points in the last minute of normal time. When their midfielder Mark Sugrue launched a delivery into Diarmuid Keating, it was a chance to win the game but, though he did well to create space for a chance, Rochestown’s Seán Powter made a heroic block on the line. It was the last big play of the game. Rochestown selector Liam Sheehan knew that his team might have been denied, but he was satisfied with a well-executed second-half performance. “It was nip and tuck all the way through,” he said. “We kept it and worked the scores in the second-half, fellas used their heads whereas, in the first-half we tried to force it a bit. We’re just delighted to get over the line.” The first-half was strange. Rochestown showed great incision at times but six wides hampered them. Though limited to just four attacks of substance, Coláiste na Sceilge mined two goals from them and at half-time they trailed by two, 1-5 to 2-0. While Shane Kingston, the shining light in the Rochestown attack, had opened the scoring, O’Dwyer struck for a third-minute goal after good work by Keating and Darren Casey. Ultimately, it would prove to be the only time they would lead. Though Brian Sugrue was getting through a lot of work at midfield, the Kerry side were back on the back foot for much of it. While Sceilge full-back Anthony O’Driscoll stood out, a Kingston free was followed by an Evan Ryle goal for Rochestown, the attacker profiting after Liam O’Sullivan had cut through the cover. By the 17th minute, it was 1-4 to 1-0, but Sceilge stayed in touch thanks to their second goal. Sugrue launched the ball into Casey, who used his pace to good effect, and his ball across allowed Anthony Cournane an easy finish. A Kingston free — his fourth point — ensured a Rochestown response and they should have pushed further clear, but three turnovers in the latter stages of the half failed to yield anything. Rochestown eased four points clear early in the second-half, Kingston with two more frees as well as having a shot off the crossbar. While Sceilge sub Jack Daly finally got their first point, a Rochestown replacement, Daniel Meaney, had two good points and brought composure around the middle. The switching of Seán Powter onto Casey had limited the Sceilge attacker’s creativity, but points from Cournane (two) and Sugrue left them in touching distance. It was as close as they came and Rochestown can continue to dream. Scorers for St Francis College, Rochestown: S Kington 0-6 (four frees), E Ryle 1-0, D Meaney 0-2, B McAuliffe 0-1. The emergence of mounthawk in schools football has massively weakened the Green. Previously they would have had about 80-90% of the footballers in the tralee area going there but now the split is approaching 50-50 with mounthawk more or less as good as the Green now

Gavin White , Daniel O'Brien , Cian O'Murchu , Aidan O'Connor ,Evan Cronin , should make the Kerry minor panel this year . I believe he hasn't been training with the minors as he is u16 this year but it will be hard for Jack to overlook Clifford with the way he has been playing.

Buck I agree he is some player . Best u16 player easily in Kerry . Looks to have a great future and one to watch . I have seen him a few times playing for Fossa and the Sem and Underage in East kerry and he has all the skills . If not this year then 2016 and 2017 for sure .

You could play him anywhere in the forwards . Probably his best spot would be in the full forward line cause he will get the scores for you .

Well done to PCD - a golden era for them. Very disappointed to see the Sem go out as they looked to have a very strong side but some key injuries proved too much for them. Final is down for February 28th - hope PCD can do it again and keep the Kerry run going.

By Edward Newman for the Irish Examiner newspaper Munster Post Primary SAFA semi-final: St Francis College, Rochestown 1-10 St Brendan’s College, Killarney 1-9 St Francis College, Rochestown wrote another memorable chapter in their fairytale season when overcoming fancied St. Brendan’s, Killarney in an absorbing Corn Uí Mhuirí semi-final at Mallow on Saturday. Already Harty Cup finalists, the Cork school remain on course for a quadruple of senior titles having being crowned Simcox Cup (Cork Colleges senior football) and O’Callaghan Cup (Cork Colleges senior hurling) champions, ‘Roco’ now aim to make it a clean sweep of titles and also complete a Munster ‘Double’ and equal a feat last achieved by Coláiste Iognáid Rís (Sullivan’s Quay) in 1975. It was fitting that, as the 2015 team left the field, members of the last successful ‘Roco’ Corn Uí Mhuirí side of 1950 were on hand to offer their congratulations to a team containing 11 dual players and who now must first prepare for a Harty final on February 21 followed a week later by the football decider. Team manager, Liam Murphy, described his group as one that “doesn’t get too worked up” about the hype building around them. “This is an absolutely fantastic result,” beamed the Watergrasshill clubman. “It’s all about momentum now but this group won’t get too worked up about the hype.” Meanwhile, it was heartbreak for St. Brendan’s who were seconds from bringing this game to extra-time but struck wide in one of the game’s last plays. The Kerry boys stayed true to the Kingdom’s rich heritage, playing a wonderful brand of football, but will rue the 14 wides they shot over the hour. Cork minor football captain Seán Powter proved the match hero, coolly converting an injury time point in a powerful second-half performance from the Cork school that now goes forward to play Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne. Rochestown overcame a five point deficit in a gutsy second-half performance where Powter, Niall Quirke, Shane Kingston, Evan Ryle and Daniel Meaney in a team of heroes played starring roles, while Brendan’s best performers included David Carroll, Shane Courtney, Dan O’Brien, Matt Rennie, Evan Cronin, Ronan Buckley and Michael Burns. The ‘Sem’ could have been out of sight by half time: dominating possession they hit a rocky patch in the second quarter shooting six consecutive wides, though they still managed to lead 1-5 to 0-5 at the break, their 29th minute goal finished by Listry’s Ronan Buckley after some brilliant build-up play from Rennie, Gavin Whyte and Cronin. And having kicked the first two points of the second-half through Buckley and the impressive Burns, it looked like St. Brendan’s would be heading to yet another Corn Uí Mhuirí final. However, Rochestown re-jigged their team, the decisive move being Evan Ryle’s to midfield. There the Carrigaline player dictated affairs as Roco hit 1-4 without reply, the points courtesy of Liam O’Sullivan, the inspirational Powter, Ben McAuliffe and Shane Kingston while the goal came from the hardworking Daniel Meaney in the 53rd minute. Minutes earlier it could have been curtains for the ‘Sem’ but Spa’s David Carroll saved bravely from a powerful Kingston shot. The Killarney college struck back to level affairs with points from Liam Kearney and a superb effort two minutes into injury from Dara Moynihan, but Powter had other ideas driving forward from centre back to land the crucial score. “We’re lucky the vast majority of our players in both hurling and football are fourth and fifth year students,” added Murphy afterwards, “so most of our Leaving Certs aren’t affected.” Scorers for St. Francis: D Meaney 1-0; S Kingston (free) 0-3 (0-2frees); S Powter 0-2; C Cormack, M McAuliffe, B McAuliffe, E Ryle and L O’Sullivan 0-1 each. Corca Dhuibhne’s flying finish foils brave Clonakilty By Bob Lester for the Irish Examiner newspaper Munster Post Primary SAFC semi-final: Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne 0-12 Clonakilty CC 0-6. Hot in pursuit of a Cork Uí Mhurí (Munster Colleges SFC) four in-a-row, the Dingle peninsula football stronghold booked a final date with Rochestown College at a cold Knocknagree on Saturday, but this semi-final victory was far less emphatic than the scoreline suggests. This was a win they really had to toil hard for as they were pushed most of the way by a tenacious Clonakilty side that only wilted in the final 10 minutes. Indeed, leading by just a point (0-7 to 0-6) entering the final quarter, the game was in the melting pot until five unanswered points from Seamus Ó Muirchearthaigh, subs Liam O Brosnacháin and PJ MacLáimh, as well as Conchúir Ó Géibheannaigh and excellent midfielder Sean Ó Gairbhi put them out of sight after a free-flowing 60 minutes of football. Certainly Dingle mentor Tommy Griffin knew they were in a tough one against a dogged Clon side who were teak tough at the back but could only manage one point from play. Said the ex-Kerry star: “It was shoulders to the wheel out there today, definitely our toughest test and one we needed it badly after an easy run of victories. We expected a tough one and we got it.” There was an explosive start, Clonakilty keeper William Tyner bringing off a fabulous save from Dingle corner-forward Conchúir Ó Géibheannaigh. But Clon rallied and points from Sean McEvoy and a Darren Santry free showed they meant business. Dingle did reply with an Ó Gairbhí point but Clon displayed better energy, with Mark White and Sean Ryan on top at midfield and Ross Mannix a constant thorn in the Dingle defence. Clonakilty led 0-2 to 0-1 after the opening quarter but really should have been further in front, for they never let Corca Dhuibhne settle into any flow. David Lowney stretched their lead in the 16th minute with a free but, for all their possession, they found scores hard to come by and were using up far more energy than Corca Dhuibhne, who were being well served by centre-back Briain Ó Beaglaíoch and wing-back Tomás Ó Súilleabháin. Some strong play yielded the next two points from the hard working Máirtín Ó Gormáin and Conchúir Ó Géibheannaigh to tie things up and although another Santry free put Clon clear again, late points from Seamus Ó Muircheartaigh and the improving Ó Gairbhi gave Corca Dhuibhne a 0-5 to 0-4 half-time lead. Clon mentor Micheál O’Sullivan said that interval deficit hurt: “We had a lot of the ball and should have punished them more. We were hoping to make it to our first final but, look, we fell short, but I am very proud of the lads, they gave it their all. Nine or 10 of the starting team are underage again next year and there’s talent on the bench too.” Corca Dhuibne hit their stride on the restart and cracking points from Ó Géibheannaigh and Ó Muircheartaigh, after a defence splitting run by Ó Beaglaíoch, pushed them clear. But back came Clon with two more Santry converted frees and just one point separated the sides entering the final quarter, 0-7 to 0-6. Corca Dhuibhne’s class and scoring power began to bear fruit as they moved the ball with menace. They never really troubled the Clon fullbackline but with Cian Ó Murchú raiding from defence, Ó Beaglaíoch and Ó Súilleabháin superb in the half backline and Ó Gairbhi and Pádraig Mac a’tSithigh making their presence felt at midfield, the All-Ireland champions finished with a flourish with those five points to book that final date. Scorers for Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne: S Ó Gairbhi, S Ó Muircheartaigh (0-2 frees) and C Ó Géibheannaigh (0-1 free) 0-3 each, L Ó Brosnacháin, M Ó Gormáin and P J Mac Láimh 0-1 each. Scorers for Clonakilty CC: D Santry 0-4 (frees), D Lowney 0-1 (free), S McEvoy 0-1. POBALSCOIL CHORCHA DHUIBHNE: S Ó Lúing (Daingean Uí Chúis); C Ó Súilleabháin (do), T Leo Ó Súilleabháin (do), C Ó Murchú (An Ghaeltacht); A Ó Conchúir (Daingean Uí Chúis), B Ó Beaglaíoch (An Ghaeltacht), T Ó Súilleabháin (Daingean Uí Chúis); P Mac an tSighigh (do), S Ó Gairbhi (An Ghaeltacht); G hÍcí Ó Brosnacháin (Daingean Uí Chúis), B S Mac an Bhradáin (Rinn Mhaoile), M Ó Gormáin (An Ghaeltacht); R Ó Mainnín (Lios Póil), S Ó Muircheartaigh (An Ghaeltacht), C Ó Géibheannaigh (Daingean Uí Chúis). CLONAKILTY CC: W Tyner (Kilmeen); D O’Brien (Ballinascarthy), B Keohane (Kilmeen), L O’Donovan (Clonakilty); D Kiely (Barryroe), E Deasy (Clonakilty), S Scannell (Kilmeen); M White (Clonakilty), S Ryan (Ballinascarthy); R Mannix (Clonakilty), D Lowney (do), S McEvoy (do); D Scannell (St Mary’s), T Scannell (Kilmeen), D Santry (do). Subs: T O’Connell (Clon) for D O’Brien (34). Referee: Richard Moloney (Limerick) Brave Clonakilty CC bow out of Corn Ui Mhuiri as PS Chorca Dhuibhne advance Clonakilty CC 0-6 PS Chorca Dhuibhne 0-12 BY KIERAN McCARTHY for the Southern Star newspaper CLONAKILTY Community College bowed out of the Corn Uí Mhuirí with their heads held high in Knocknagree on Saturday afternoon. While the final scoreline doesn’t do justice to the efforts of the West Cork school, Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne – reigning Munster and All-Ireland champions – were the better side in this semi-final and finished very strongly to seal their provincial final place against Rochestown, who surprised St Brendan’s College in the other last-four clash. Early scores from Sean McEvoy (Clon’s only score from play) and Darren Santry saw Clonakilty CC lead 0-2 to 0-0 after seven minutes and while they ended up trailing 0-5 to 0-4 by the break, they had their chances to be in front at half time. Instead, Chorca Dhuibhne had their noses in front thanks to scores from excellent midfielder Seán Ó Gairbhi (2), Máirtín Ó Gormáin, Conchúir Ó Géibheannaigh and Seamus Ó Muircheartaigh. Frees from David Lowney and Santry completed Clonakilty’s first half scoring, as they really asked questions of PS Chorca Dhuibhne, with Dylan Scannell a real danger in attack, while the midfield pairing of Mark White and Sean Ryan were also prominent. The Kerry school always led in the second half but even after scores from Conchúir Ó Géibheannaigh (free) and Seamus Ó Muircheartaigh pushed them 0-7 to 0-4 clear, back came Clon with two Santry frees to leave it a one-point game entering the final quarter. Try as they might, Clonakilty CC couldn’t work the openings they needed to shock the champions and it was Chorca Dhuibhne that finished on top, rattling off five late points to confirm their place in the Corn Uí Mhuirí final. Ó Muircheartaigh, Liam Ó Brosnacháin, PJ MacLáimh, Ó Géibheannaigh and Seán Ó Gairbhi were all on target. Munster Senior Colleges Final this Saturday - Will Rochestown losing the Harty Cup last weekend help or hinder. Would be a great achievement for Dingle to win again. I fancied the Sem but they fell to Rochestown in the SF - Hope Dingle can do the business and retain their title.
