Apparently there is some match on Sunday involving some other teams from Dublin and Donegal. I mean who do they think they are, imagine if the American Football Game ends in a draw when will they replay be? Shocking stuff. Maybe they'll rearrange the Hurling final to accommodate the American "football". It's the least the GAA could do. I'm fed up with the constant talk of it only being a formality that Dublin will win Sam. I really hope Donegal beat them on Sunday. All this talk of Dublin winning 3,4,5 in a row is really bad for the game. Silly rubbish by people in the media who use it to cover their own lack of knowledge. Dublin have only won 1, if they do win more than fine. But all this talk of a Dublin dynasty is just talking down our game like it's predictable and uncompetitive.

Hope the Donegal match is close anyway - it'd be a bit demoralising if Dublin steamroll their way to an all-ireland. Also I don't like seeing any team get hammered really. THe only time I can vaguely recall anything like this happening was Kerry 1979, and 1980 pretty much though Ros gave them a game in the final. And possibly 2004?

Forgot about it but Limerick brought Kerry to a replay in 2004. Seems like they gave Kerry a good game in the replay as well. www.terracetalk.com/kerry-football/year/2004

Surely three figures? If you could bet on such a thing Annascaul I'd advise you to bet on Meath Vs Dublin to be drawn in the Leinster quarter final and Meath to take us to a replay. If Meath have any pride about them at all they will finally have learned and taken action on what they need to become competitive again. That way I expect at the minimum a show of defiance from them next year. Otherwise the only team that looks any cop whatsoever is Laois. In anyways as I'm sure all you fans of the Golden Years would remember, it's the 6-in-a-row that is coveted, in order to join the panthion etc etc

Dublin play a division 1 side for the first time in this years championship tomorrow. Problem for any team defending the All Ireland over the past 25 years has been maintaining the intensity that is required to win big games - frequently when the big question is asked they find they hit a wall. Remember only Kerry in recent times have won in successive years. Dublin's bench may well help them overcome this but it will be interesting if Donegal get a lead and close up shop even more whether or not Dublin can crack them. The ref and black card policy may well play a decisive role in final outcome.

If Donegal win on sunday I would fancy the winners of the replay to beat them in the final. Good view from the ditch

I expect Donegal to at least match Dublin for physicality and intensity. For me this is an intriguing contest. The Dubs haven't been tested thus far which could favour Donegal if the Dubs get off to a slow start.
Jim Gavin is the coolest man in Dublin. As Rashers says, it's the media blowing up the Dubs. I guarantee within the camp their feet are firmly planted. There's no team invincible and the aforementioned is a shrewd operator to know that.

Guess the Dublin 5-in-a-row will now have to be 2015-2019?
Stunning by Donegal today. Dublin found out by the first decent team they had to play. Even Joe couldn't save them. Perhaps a few outings around the provinces might build the steel and nous that's needed when trying to get out of a tight corner.
Donegal will be hugely formidable opponents but I would prefer to lose to them than have to put up with the unbeatable, greatest ever Dubs etc lark that was being teed up.

Rashers, sincere commiserations. No more than yourself, I did not anticipate that. While I certainly expected Donegal to make it more difficult than the bookies suggested, I thought Dublin would be able to overcome any defensive system Donegal implemented. It looked so good early on with those fantastic points from Paul O'Flynn and Diarmuid Connolly and those early goal misses, at the time, did not seem significant. With the benefit of hindsight, even one might have demoralised Donegal. I was stunned to see Colm McFadden and young McHugh were totally unmarked when they received the ball for two of the goals.
Two key players were not as effective as usual for Dublin. Stephen Cluxton's kicks out were not as precise as usual and of course he missed a few frees while MDM was not as dominant as is his wont. I am an admirer of Eoghan O'Gara's rugged approach but it was clear early he was not tuned in. Jim Gavin was very slow replacing him.
This was the most impressive display I have seen from Donegal since Jim McGuinness took over. I have been critical of their style of play but it appeared today that they have moved on to another plane since 2012. I would be very fearful of them in the final.
There is no arguing that Michael Murphy is a top notcher but he has a tendency to punch opponents in the rib cage by way of a tackle. He have a thundering one today to Diarmuid Connolly which I felt was bordering on a red card.
Looking back over the "three" semifinals there are a few conclusions we cane come to : 1. Predicting the outcome is game for mugs. 2. In a two horse race the unforeseen can happen and in that context I was surprised that the bookies, shrewd men and women, had Dublin 10 to one on. 3. No matter how well shielded you are by psychologists etc , being overwhelming favourites must inevitably seep into the mind while conversing acting as a huge incentive for the opposition. The mind is poorly understood. Was today's result the most unexpected since Offaly's win in 1982? 4.The difficulty of retaining the title.

In fairness to Joe, he was even-handed today. Quite simply, Dublin lost because they thought their attack was so good, they didn't have to defend. Commiserations to Rashers, skybluezone et al. Caught on the hop today, it happens. Pity, would have been a great final, now it will be just be another battle.

I said here on several occasions that Dublin were completely exaggerated as a team. I always saw them in the exact same light that Johnnie Giles saw Brazil in the world cup. I was castigated for even uttering a doubt about MDMC who I still think is limited as a footballer and I got responses about his “fitness” “engine” “workrate” etc. I think he went missing yesterday.
MOTM was Ryan McHugh because of his 2 goals. The following is from a report in the Belfast Telegraph during the Ulster Championship. I believe MDMC is about 6’ 6”.
“Matchday programmes can be notoriously misleading, but Sunday's stated that McHugh weighs a sparrow-like 10 and a half stone. At 5ft 8in that would seem about right, which made the punishment he shipped all the more impressive”.
"Talent will out" - we should know.

What a performance from Donegal. They deserve all the plaudits they are getting. They caused the Dubs to doubt themselves, panic and make stupid decisions. Who would have given them a hope in hell when a team as rampant as the Dubs have been went 5 in front and could have been 11 if they scored their 2 goal chances? Most teams would have folded and accepted their fatebut but not Donegal of 2014, they never flustered. They also deserve great credit because all the talk beforehand was of a repeat of 2011 and how the game would be so different from the Kerry - Mayo game. So Donegal are very man heavy in defence and tackle ferociously but they also go ahead and rack up 3-14, absolutely unbelievable.
As for the Dubs, it seems they are susceptible to the weaknesses of their predecessors in that they got caught up in their own hype. Although, this team are better footballers and have 2 titles to back it up. However, the similarities with their semi finals against Mayo in '06 & '12 were astounding. Whereby they went ahead by varying amounts early on and then thought it was a matter of going through the motions. If Connolly got that chance if it was 10 mins left with a point in the game would he have tried to nonchalantly roll the ball under the goalkeeper? I think Brolly is overmystifying things (again) because Dublin did have chances in very kickable areas but you don't really bank too much on Brogan missing frees in front of the goal or Connolly blazing wide from 25 yards. Yes, Donegal limited them severely in the second half, but they certainly had the opportunities. But Dublin were guilty 1.) Complacency 2.) Panic. 2 traits not associated with them in recent times. They were also very naive in defence. Surely to god, after McFadden had got in behind and fisted a point and then in for a goal that Gavin wouldn't have had to tell his players to mind the house and stop bombing forward into cul-de-sacs in rows of 12??? Donegal on the other hand, they played like the team full of self belief and composure. They were absolutely clinical from 20 mins onward once they curbed the Dublin tide. Brilliant performance. Looking forward to, but very worried about, 2 weeks from Sunday.

Dublin's current aura, before yesterday's game, will never be the same again. They simply imploded when questioned by Donegal. 10 out of 10 again to JMcG. Yesterday was a throw back of some kind to 2012.
