lol They don't HAVE TO pick a Kerry man to manage them!! There are plenty of other options out there, Glen Ryan I would think. Glenn Ryan is out of the running for the job.. Kevin Mc Stay looks among the front runners at present. He is currently stationed in the curragh camp, so it might suit him. I find it hard to see him giving up his handy number with the Sunday Game. Darragh O Shea and Paul Curran have also been mentioned... Then again, who hasn't! McStay would probably need a 100k to consider managing Kildare.

It's great that we had the dilmma over whether to pick Mickey Ned or Jack O'Connor for our minors! Remember when we had John Kennedy in charge and no alternatives

One lads at work put forward the argument that the County Board moved to make sure one of the most experienced and decorated coaches in Kerry didn't feel the need to bring his wares outside the county. Seems reasonable argument to me. Mickey Ned is a legend and a gentleman but I feel his teams are not steeled enough for the horses*it that arrives in some games e.g.this year's quarter final. They lost a winning grip with the sideshow nasties that went on. That needs to be prepared for. A quote of Darragh's comes to mind (approx): "That was the thing about that great Meath team of the 80s, they could flake without taking the eye of the football". I'm not advocating training for brawls, but for greater awareness and have a know n plan for collectively dealing with it if it arises. The plan to specifically include winning the game.

Are you saying, Jack got the minor job because County board didn't want him coaching outside the county? If so, then lol! Plenty of good Kerry coaches have coached outside the county without us fearing any downside to it.. and we diffenitly don't fear Kildare enough to compromise the selection of our minor management.

Have people considered the logistics of leaving the classroom in Caherciveen at 4pm, being in Newbridge for 7pm and being back in the classroom for 9am the following morning 2-3 days a week.
The Kildare JOC marriage was never a runner.

The Kildare JOC marriage was never a runner. Moreover, you look at the type of players Kildare have and while they have many fantastic athletes actual footballers are far and few between.

I don't think it was training, just an introduction into the gym work they'll be doing for next few months

Is Cian O'Neill involved in the minor training also? My understanding is that he would be. Anybody know for sure?

I cant say for sure but I cant see where he would fit in. Jack is the manager, there are 3 selectors then Alan O Sullivan and Arthur Fitzgerald involved as coaches and strength and conditioning coach. Also how could he combine his role as coach/selector with the seniors and be involved with the minors too - doesn't seem feasible to me.

Is there a third or is that it??

Don't think he was there the last night pony but he could be at a later date. As far as I'm aware there is only the two selectors aswell. Corn Ui Mhuire tomorrow so heres hoping there'll be selectors and the like at these games.

Full time in CIT + selector/trainer with Kerry seniors..............I think we can presume that he's more then likely not involved with the minors, which would make alot of sense, because if he was involved, then what are O Sullivan and Fitzgerald there for, on top of 2 selectors and a multiple AI winning coach. We'll have more coaches then players at this rate! lol

I suppose what I meant was that, is he not in charge of setting out the physical training plans from senior down? Maybe not actually hands-on and there to implement them but setting them out for others to do so. Or is his involvement strictly with the seniors?

The reliables such as Micheal Burns Killian Spillane and Matthew Flaherty will all be main men.Younger players who may get a run are conor geaney dingle evan cronin spa mark sugrue renard sean bambury dingle darragh brosnan gneeveguilla and jason foley ballydonoghue gavin white crokes in my opinion dingle123 Sean bambury is from an gaeltacht... Only space for 1 dingle man on this page I was just reading through the forum there and I noticed a few U16 names mentioned I was watching a game recently between Eoghan Rua U16s and West Kerry U16s and 1 player from Eoghan rua really caught my eye he was centre back and midfield I think his 1st name was Dj not sure about second name though Beat Mark O Connor from Dingle off the field that day. He seemed to have it all height speed great hands both feet definitely as good as a few of the names mentioned above. This guy definitely worth a look. I was a minor few years ago and this lad has what it takes. Is he involved in Development Squads does anyone no?
