Hearing great things about young daragh bruzzy brosnan from lispole, have only seen him against weak opposition but a fine strong lad all the same, jacko has given him a call up witch is the talk of west Kerry keep it up bruzzy Saw him in a school match recently pobalscoil chorca dhuibhne vs cbs the green tralee and he was Corner back and was just outstanding. his opponent did not touch or embrace the ball at all in the first half, as a matter of fact i think his marker might have been fearful of Dara's physicality , man of the match in my opinion. a traditional and universal footballer , fast and strong and well able to carry the ball out of defence , in my opinion Dara has all the attributes and quality's to make it as a big-time Kerry player in the future once he remains injury-free because he has been out for the past two years with an atrocious cruciat ligament deformation.

So who's the new Kerry Minor Selector announced at last night County Board meeting?

The new minor selector is Eamon Whelan of St. Senans, also chairman of Kerry Coiste na nOg. As I understand it, his primary role will be as a liaison between county minor management and clubs. Eamon has played a huge and integral role in juvenile Kerry GAA for many years now and I would definitely consider him to be one of the most knowledgeable and able people out there; personally I think this is a big boost for the minors.

I hope we do well in 2014 . It would be nice to win an All Ireland just because it would be good for the Underage scene in Kerry and give it a needed boost .

I also like the sound of the club liaison role

This years' panel of players are meeting twice a week, one for a gym session and on Saturday mornings for a ball session.
Also Jack Savage of last years minor panel was named Munster minor of the year.

Jack Savage should figure prominently in Eamonns plans in 2014 Savage is a promising player but is a long way from senior inter county. You could see it in the county championship this year that he looked like a boy amongst men. Hopefully in another 2 or 3 years he will be ready for the step up. Conor Keane looks physically more able to adapt to the senior set-up a bit quicker but last year he had all the hallmarks of a player who played too much and he looked physically and mentally shot by the summer.

I agree with you that Savage is about 3 years of development off intercounty level but I think it would be a good idea to have a few of these lads training with teh seniors to let them see what is expected and to encourage them a bit. The love of Keane on here never ceases to amaze me- a very good minor club player but you mentioned men against boys and I dont remember Keane tearing it up against Crokes last year or even doing so for the minors. As I have said before he seems to have built a very good rep on a first round performance for the minors and everyone seems to be going along with it- from last years minors Savage, Burns and Spillane all have a better chance of making it.

What I meant about Keane is that he currently looks stronger and more like a senior I suppose than the likes of Savage or Spillane.
The crucial aspect of developing these guys this year and next (if they are not making U21 or seniors panels) seems to have been overlooked once again this year. Now the county board can only look after so much at once and maybe they concentrated on the minor review this year along with Currans/IT development but something has to be done here.
